Ok, so I've lurked on TCF since the beginning but haven't been active. But now I need halp! Is it tacky for me to host our own sip and see? I won't be having a baby shower and I have no issues saying no presents or something on the invite. Our family is pretty spaced out (about 2.5-5 hours away) and we recently also bought a house. I want to invite everyone at once for an open house/sip and see but I don't want to seem tacky. Is it possible??
I feel like a "meet the baby" party is something that the parents can host. The point isn't to get gifts (like a shower is), it's to meet the baby.
People will probably still bring gifts, but that's their choice. I would NOT mention any registry on the invitations and don't do any kind of gift opening at the party. Just take the gifts and put them off to the side to open later.

I agree, that is totally fine for parents to host. We are going to do that if we have #2, as we have already had a shower with #1, and we would just like everyone to come to a open house and meet the newest member of the family all at once.
