Another vote for laminate. We love it for animals as well. We've had no water issues. And I even overflowed our dishwasher! The only thing we hate is color. It's super dark. And shows everything!

Oh! AND! We've had absolutely no evidence of scratches / marks from our dogs and cat. Nothing. My parents just had brand.new.fucking.expensive-ass.hardwood installed throughout their house and it is completely scratched to shit from their dog.
I replaced our basement flooring a little over a year ago. There was basically just carpet on concrete. All by myself, I was able to lay "luxury vinyl flooring" with a decent amount of ease. It is a floating floor, which I found helpful with a not quite level cement base. I laid a layer of foam to keep in a bit of warmth. So far, we have loved it. It is easy to clean, looks great, was easy to install, really affordable, and cleaning up all the beer I spill on it is a breeze.
We have cork floors, we love them. They show dirt and messes less than hardwoods/laminates because they dont have a gloss finish. They're good heat insulators and soft. We also installed them ourselves super easy!
I work for a laminate manufacturer and I've learned it's a very durable product. I would suggest a thick (12mm) plank, with pad attached and a vapor barrier underneath. The thicker boards are more resistant to spills and the locking mechanism will hold up better in rooms where the temps may fluctuate more than the main living floor.

I don't know where you live, but if you are somewhere really dry, bamboo flooring likes to buckle. My parents were thinking about it until my brother (the one who does flooring) told them it wasn't a good idea here.
I'm all for carpet in basements strictly because it helps absorb sound and makes things echo less. Laminate is a good idea if you want something quicker to put in and costs a lot less than most high quality hardwood flooring. I prefer tile, honestly. I don't like the hard surface, but I also don't have to worry about moisture hurting it if I want to steam clean it.
My SIL has bamboo floors and she wants to take it out, just a few years after they put it in. Their miniature pinschers cannot walk on it at all, no traction I guess, so there are a lot of little rugs everywhere for the dogs.
