Are you giving your kids anything for Valentine's Day?

I think it's fun and Ds gets super excited.

I do give them Valentines, maybe candy, or a stuffed animal. Just something to remember the day.

I decorate my house. I have Valentine/love related stuff around. XOXO plaques or whatever in the bathrooms. Stuff around the house.

I do heart shaped pancakes. I have had them little mailboxes from Dollar Tree and me and MH put notes and stuff in there for them.

I always get them something small and some candy.

We usually do something small for her usually a book or small toy and some candy.

We usually stay home and make dinner because we both hate crowded restaurants.

We'll be skiing for the weekend with some friends that weekend, including a couple other little kids S's age. I'll make everyone red velvet pancakes for breakfast to celebrate. No other special treats for my kid. He's 2.5, 'breakfast cookies' are plenty for him.

I think we gave him a card last year? Maybe we'll add some stickers this year and a piece of chocolate.

Last year, after Valentine's Day was over, I bought adorable little personalized envelope chair backers from PBK on clearance. I plan in putting a card and some chocolates in them. In the past, I've made heart shaped pancakes for breakfast.

We also have a few cute decorations around the house. Not as much because I love Valentine's Day, but more so to have something to cheer up the house after the Christmas decorations are down.

We will give the boys a small box of chocolates each and DH always gets me these amazing turtles from a local chocolate shop. I will probably make him beef jerky

We will eat at home though because I hate crowds. I think we are going to do a crab boil for dinner.

She's 5 months old...I asked her if she wanted anything for Valentine's Day and she said, "No."

When she's old enough she can trade candy and cards at school. In the mean time, I don't really require an excuse to buy chocolate for myself

DH and I don't really celebrate it but for some reason he thinks we need to give a bunch of goodies to DS. I say it's something to celebrate at school.

We'll probably give them some candy and I might suggest that DH get her flowers - but I've suggested that DH get me me flowers in the past and it falls on deaf ears.

I was thinking maybe going to the movies might be fun vs. buying a bunch of stuff.

He will get plenty of candy and crap from his friends at school/dc. Maybe I'll mail him a card (or just shove one in the mail box) because he loves getting mail.

I'll attempt the heart carrots I've seen on Pinterest. Plus heart pancakes. it being a Saturday we may even do some heart shaped cutout cookies and decorate them. No gifts though.

Me and DH dont celebrate it with each other because its a traumatic day from his childhood from a whole other situation. So I have learned to be OK with that. I do give the kids one of those dollar heart box candies and usually a small stuffed animal or something along those lines. Its not a big deal in our house. My two oldests go to school so they enjoy giving and receiving cards and candy there. I do have a few small Valentines day knick knacks that people have gifted me thru the years and some years I display them and some I dont. Just depends on if I want to dig them out or not.

Last year DS was to small to even know anything so we just got him a mylar balloons. This year we'll do the same with some treats. He's still small where he doesn't know what's going on.

Eri will get a tutu or outfit, along with some candy. If I don't let her have some of her own, she'll steal mine!

DS (10 months) will get a small stuffed animal.

For real? I didn't even know this was a thing, buying presents for the kids on valentines day. I guess I am a valentines day grump!

DH never celebrated this and all I have ever done for the kids so far is buy them valentines to give out at daycare. DS doesn't even understand the concept - though is is getting old enough to now.

DS is one so I'm going to give him a balloon to play with. He lived his birthday balloon, so I know it will be a hit.

Every year since DD has been born, H has gotten something for both of us. Usually a matching box of chocolates and a flower each and also a stuffed something for DD. It makes DD so happy. And seeing her excitement makes me melt so H always gets lucky that night for being so awesome.

Two years ago, he got her a huge stuffed dog and I think she had her holidays messed up because of the candy and she called this bear, who has hearts all over him, Halloween. That's still his name to this day.

Audball picked out these really cheesy Boo the Dog Valentine's for her friends at school. I know we have several parents who do treat bags for every holiday so I'm starting to think I need to do one but it seems like a lot of work and money we don't need to spend.

Like others we give them something small like a little toy or some candy or both. It's fun for them to get something, but it's not a holiday I spend a ton of money on. Their birthdays are also coming up in March and April plus Easter. They get a lot of stuff in the spring.

I have some Valentines stuff around the house, a red wreath on the door (repurposed Christmas wreath!). We'll probably get DS a book, some sort of sweet, a card. I bought some Target Valentines to give to his classmates at daycare, and will bring in some candy for his teachers.

DH and I usually make a fun dinner at home. I have a chocolate pie recipe I've been wanting to try!

DS will get a balloon or something small but he's not quite 18 months, so doesn't even realize anything about it yet.

My dad will be getting all of us a huge box of chocolate, which I could do without but it's tradition and he'd be crushed if I said I didn't want mine. He picks out our fave chocolates too, from a specialty shop, so it's delicious but I could without the calories. If I had any self-control, it'd be manageable, but I don't.

I appreciate the thought and generosity of these daycare parents, but I find their treat bags for every holiday completely unnecessary. Candy or pretzels or goldfish, that's cool. But the holiday pencil will have the eraser bitten off before we get home and the tiny .05 made in China toy will likely live on the floor of my car before ultimately meeting its fate in the barrel of a heavy duty vaccuum.

I hate that everyone does that and makes me feel like I have to as well. I haven't done it yet. I might have DD2 bring Valentines to daycare, but that's probably all.  DD1 will definitely bring Valentines to school.  I didn't see as many treats come home last year when she was in kindergarten as I did with daycare, so I'm going to skip the candy with her too.  Treats are just too much extra work!
