Isaac has his first dentist appointment today at 3. I bet he will live new fingers to chomp on. Lunch is amazing today. I don't know if I ever mentioned that DH has a chef background. He made me this entirely strange but crazy delicious concoction. It's pineapple mango chicken with almonds over herb roasted potatoes in a balsamic reduction. Superb! It is also so cold today so chilli sounds great for dinner.
songbirdsinging55 Hope the dentist appointment goes well! My LO just got her first tooth like two weeks ago so we probably won't be going there for a while lol.
Songbird, your lunch does sound delicious! And I can't wait to hear about the dentist- How exciting to see your H Nerdalert! I take baby to kiss H goodnight every night. Last night, she started crying real tears and turned away from him. I felt so terrible on his behalf. I don't know how he didn't cry too!

nerdalert - Not going to lie, I just teared up a bit reading about your H getting to see your LO tonight. Sincerely warms my heart. I have the utmost respect for you for managing on your own the last 2.5 months. I can't even imagine. Love that your LO is saying mama, dada and nana. Sooo cute. Mine only says mama and hat ... ha ha
songbirdsinging55 - your meal sounds amazing. Mmmm chili!! I'll be curious to hear how the dentist goes. I'm taking my LO to one in a few months too.
I took LO for his first haircut yesterday. Pained me a little to snip his cute little locks, but he was starting to grow little wings behind his ears. He was soo good for the stylist and sat still and smiled the whole time. She gave us a little envelope with the first lock she cut and a little card printed with "my first haircut" with the date, his name, etc. It was really cute. I took him to Great Clips since they are a chain I would imagine they do that at all of their stores. My hair stylist is going to be sad she didn't get to give him his first haircut, but she's not back in town until after his birthday party next month.
ninergirl52 Glad the haircut went well! So cute that they give you a card!
My LO is WAY behind all of yours in mobility- but what she lacks in mobility she makes up for in word knowledge. In the past month she has exploded with words. She can say "mama, dada, nana, hi, bye, ice, watch, iss (kiss), ick (kick), uh-oh, key (monkey), atch (catch), ish (fish)," and here's a funny one: "cha cha cha." There's a part in one of my workout videos where they say that, so she started saying it. I've also accidentally taught her to say "om nom nom" when spoon feeding her lol.
This cool weather meant chicken pot pie for dinner. DH had all the veggies and chicken going when I got home. So I just needed to make the sauce and cut biscuits. My kind of week night cooking.
After DH went to trap and after the door closed DD speed walked into the living room shouting DADA. I was thrilled because her verbal pretty much stopped once she could walk. It was as if she didn't need to talk because she could get to what she wanted. We also took her paci away except for naps and bedtime.
DD made it in her crib until 1:30 which is longer than she has made it since August.
@ ninergirl a hair cut that's crazy to think the babies are at the point they need hair cuts.
Nerdalert that's great that you get to see your H.
Songbird lunch sounds great.
Zengal your poor H, baby refusals are the worst.
Songbird I want to hear more about the dentist. DD has 8 teeth, why did you decide to go to the dentist?
Nerdalert don't feel bad about your lo's mobility, mine just started crawling like 2 weeks ago (and it's an army crawl at that!) That's adorable yours is talking so much, these babies are all getting so big! Haircuts?! Crazy.
Ninergirl how cute they gave you a card what a cool thing.
So I've decided to call in sick tomorrow due to dc being closed and me not really having anyone to watch lo. Just have to decide if it will be that my H and I both got food poisoning or that my sister did and was supposed to watch lo...
Songbird- I hope Isaac's appt went well! and that lunch sounds sooooo good! I had probably almost too old leftover meatballs in a sub today lol
nerdalert! Ahh enjoy your H this weekend!!
awww poor Zengal's hubby. I hope he got kisses tonight lol. Or maybe that was baby's CTJ moment with him lol
ninergirl how cute they gave LO a card. I haven't given Liam a haircut this month yet, I'm actually thinking of letting it grow out!
MsNicole, dinner sounds yummy!
kfaye, I would say your sis got the food poisoning and couldn't watch LO. So that no one will be all "oh how are you feeling" and you have to do that whole song and dance.
So, is everyone's LO's saying at least one word? We get lots of babbles but nothing is anything specific. He chooses a new "phrase" he repeats each week. Like first it was only mamamamama then gagagaga then like rararababa and now this week it is bwah bwah bwah bwah. He hasn't said mama or mamamama in like 3 or 4 weeks.
Also he has five teeth now, I thought dentist appts were like around 2 years old? I'm glad I have you guys here to make me realize things like dentist appts lol
Jjh I'm still not sure if DD realizes that dada means Daddy. We don't have ga, ma, or ba sounds at all. I'm starting to worry about it and our Pedi said we'd talk more about it at 12 months.
That's interesting, MsNicole. At the time of our pedi appt he had only just started saying mamamama (like literally the week before) it was my biggest concern. She said that talking has such a LARGE timeframe for normal, even as late as 2 years old having only a handful of words by then.
She's not concerned so I'm trying not to be. But yeah, we've got nothing close to sounds even attempting to be words (like Zengal's baby saying nanana for milk- not a real word but it has meaning)
Glad you're taking the day off Kfaye! I vote for the excuse of your sister was supposed to watch LO. Don't put the energy into the universe for food poisoning...
That's funny JJH that baby might have a CTJ moment for H too!
I agree that talking has a huge range for normal. I have always heard the general milestone check as walk by one, talk by two. And good gracious don't we know how much can happen in two months!!
Driving by to catch up, yesterday was crazy at work but I wanted to say thank you ladies for the get well thoughts I am feeling much better today! Add me to the only says mamama and dada group, lots of babbling but no real words it makes me think Im doing something wrong or its bc he only sees me for a few hours a day (yay mom guilt) . I'm getting ready to make a dentist appointment for lo he has 4 teeth and the AAP and American Academy of Pediatric Dentists both recommend the first dental visit by age one. I actually know a ridiculous amount about pediatric dental recommendations as I designed a training program for pediatricians that teaches them how to incorporate basic oral health preventative services and education into well child visits for kids under age 3...Now I'm leading the program to train 1500 pediatricians and family Med providers state wide (that was my promotion). So let me know if you have any dental questions :-)
My LO doesn't say a lot either, but FWIW my nephew is 18 months old and he doesn't say much other than "hot" - the pediatrician recommended he see a speech therapist. He went twice and it turns out he understands everything you are saying. We instruct him to do things all the time "close the door" "grab your shoes" etc, and he complies. Within the last 3 weeks he's started to talk more but only when not instructed. We've noticed he'll just string words together now. Anyhow, all that to say some kids start talking later. My LO doesn't say much in the way of words, but he does like to "sing" he's constantly saying/singing, "lalalala" I think he likes making his tongue move. Sometimes it just sounds like he's saying "letter, letter, letter"
That's true ninergirl, my niece sounds a lot like songbird's Isaac. Talking from basically 4 months, sentences by around 13-14 months (no seriously) and conversations before she was two. She is 12 now
On the other hand her her younger brother at 4 or 5 still barely talked. When he was three he just pointed to everything. He is 8 now and reads and writes ahead of his age.
I try not to worry about it. He definitely understands certain words, so it will happen soon. I'm sure.
