Eek zengal I have vague memories of the shower spider story now that you mention it. HOW DID YOU STAY IN THAT HOUSE?
I have an appt with our exterminator tomorrow afternoon. We live pretty much up against woods/ivy, etc. Our landlord doesn't keep up with it and it gets out of control and I'm sure as shit not going to hack through all that and H is almost never home and when he is I refuse to have time wasted by him doing stuff he shouldn't have to do.
So my question is- do you just get sprayed outside? They do something with the baseboards inside, I'm just like anti pesticide overall but yeah cellar spiders are just fine/ but poisonous ones? Yeah no thanks. Get those fuckers out.
Do you get sprayed outside and in or just outside?
I feel like I asked that twice but I'm not scrolling up.
I hope you sleep better tonight!
Yeah, Jax typically brown recluse a are not in our area but I think with how hot the summer was they moved a bit up north.
I haven't caught up on the last couple days' threads, but I hate spiders too! Our last apartment was in a rural area up against a large field, and they sprayed inside and outside regularly. We never saw any poisonous ones, or hardly any other bugs for that matter. I want to know what they were using because it was very effective! When they sprayed inside, they did ask us if we had any children or pets. We didn't at the time, so I'm not sure what they would have done if we did.
Since the topic of the morning is creepy, crawly spiders:
1. I hate being wet in the shower w/o contacts when I notice a spider bathing with me. TMI? Don't care. 2. My co-worker's wife was > 37 weeks pregnant. Jumped up from the couch when she noticed a spider crawling on her leg. Went into labor that evening. My co-worker is convinced the two were related.
Tomorrow between 3-5 cannot come fast enough. I'm sleeping at my parents tonight. I knew I feared spiders and I know like 90% of their bites heal fine but with my luck I'll lose a leg. I'm going to do a nice deep cleaning Friday. With long sleeves and gloves lol
zengal- we have tons of bugs and spiders in my house. I have only sprayed once for an ant infestation this last year. We lived here for 5 years so far. Never was going to spray but now I don't even want to go in my house right now lol. I will probably do once a year or less for these guys. I sprayed around with peppermint oil and water and eucalyptus oil.
I'll feel better tomorrow. I'm hoping to stop feeling imaginary creepy crawlers on me today
I had a busy weekend, we are renovating our basement (because ya know we have so much spare time on our hands) and I finally placed a huge furniture order so soon our house will not be bare bones!
zengal We do night time bottles as well. Bottle then pacifier to sleep. MOTN bottle and pacifier half the time. Heaven help us if we had to stop to brush teeth or wipe out the mouth. She'd see it as an opportunity to play.

On the spider topic ... I'm probably in the wildly unpopular crowd that isn't bothered by them in the least. To the point that in the rare occasion I find one in the house, I usually scoop it up with something and let it free outside. On the contrary if a furry rodent with a hairless tail so much as crosses my path. All hell will break loose. I have zero restraint for these disgusting creatures. I would move out of my house if I found even one inside of it. Dh know to not disclose any such findings. So that I can continue to live blissfully in a furry rodent with hairless tail free world.
Had a busy weekend, just now getting back to reality. DH started a 24 day challenge today and I'm joining him just on the eating portion. I am wary of supplements + more importantly I'm breastfeeding, so I don't want to mess with that. Just eating clean for the next 24 days. Ahem ... this apparently means no creamer in my coffee. I may be crying myself to sleep tonight.
ninergirl52, you go girl on the healthy eating! You can do it!
zengal, yay for the race! Let us know how it goes!
DD is teething again with her top teeth now. She already has her two front bottom teeth. I'm so paranoid about her biting me now when she's nursing because I know it would hurt so bad. I need those things for future siblings kid!
zengal I do worry about it especially with what I do for work but the Dentists I work with have said that while not ideal as long as I brush his teeth at least twice daily with fluoride toothpaste he should be fine. I will also be having fluoride varnish applied to his teeth every 3 months as a preventive measure (it is recommended every 3 months as soon as the first tooth erupts and in most states can be done at a primary care visit). There is no way I could wipe his teeth in the MOTN. I do try to make sure he isn't latched all night, I roll him on to his back when he finishes nursing.
spikesmom Holy crap, I had no idea there was so much to do with a baby this young's teeth! Brushing teeth twice daily? Fluoride varnish? My mom said she just wiped our teeth with a washcloth at night until like age 2 when you start using toothpaste, and no dentist appointments until right before kindergarten.
I think our pedi said something about going to the dentist around 18 months maybe. So this wasn't even on my radar. Right now she only has two teeth and I wipe them with a washcloth at night. She nurses twice during the night for like 10 minutes each time and I don't wipe her teeth afterward. DNW a wide-awake baby at 3am lol.
Hey ladies! Lo and I have had a nice day. Went to baby story time at the library and stayed for the toddler time too, it was just great to get out of the house for a bit!
Omg jjh your spider story is terrifying!! I would have flipped, and with your H gone too? Oh hell no. I killed a giant one in the house today and I freaked out and sprayed the whole house for them.
Ya I definitely have been biten pretty badly by lo. It was usually when she was not really wanting to nurse and or teething. Not fun for sure, it made me seriously consider weaning but we stuck with it and now it's much better.
nerdalert...there is a lot and the recommendations have changed in the last few years. Now the Recommendations are brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste (rice size smear) as soon as the first tooth appears, it used to be 2 years for this. The varnish was recently added to the AAP periodicity schedule for well child visits. Wiping with a wash cloth is great as long as you use toothpaste, they have found that wiping without toothpaste as virtually no benefit....sorry I get a little excited about kids dental topics :-)
While I don't love spiders, they don't super bother me either. Although, I despise walking through a web. Makes me feel icky for hours afterwards.
Today has been a whirlwind! My grandma went to the ER this morning because of a lot of pain and swelling in her left arm. She's 94 and has had a lot of issues with swelling in recent years. My mom fell and sprained her ankle as well this morning. She was worried about her knee that she had replaced two years ago, but the x-rays showed that everything looked good.

Omg do I hate spiders! The wood spiders scare the crap out of me. I need to catch up on the weekend posts.
Yay for a big race!! My friends just did the spartan race.
The weekend was crazy busy, play dates and a much needed date night with DH. Isaac was so mad he was crying and hyperventilating when I went to pick him up. He has been so clingy with me. I felt so guilty. He is also 11 months today!
I think I am not as smart as I used to be. I swear that mommy brain and pregnancy have taken over. I had some ridiculous moments.
One- I went to my sister's to bring her mixing bowls that I bought her a while back and some cheese for a soup she was making. I forgot both items then I ran to the store to buy cheese, completely forgetting why I was at the store. She had to remind me.
Two- I was so excited about the music instruments that I found for Isaac for his birthday. I told DH how I found a baby tangerine that he can play.....
Three- I randomly asked my boss how I would know if the first frost happened. He said you go outside and see frost on the ground. Facepalm.
nerdalert there are several childrens toothpastes that have fluoride in them and any of those will work! I use Tom's with fluoride but Crest, Colgate and Orajel all make kids toothpaste that has fluoride.
songbirdsinging55 I was just talking with DD's preschool teacher about how I am so ditzy now. She agreed that after children she became the same way. Mommy/pregnancy brain is real!
zengal you do not have to use kids toothpaste the only difference is flavors...Max makes adorable faces when we travel and I use my minty toothpaste on him :-)
songbirdsinging55 Add me to the mommy brain club! I have forgotten stupid things so many times since having LO. I never used to do that. Stuff like throwing a bowl away in the trash, forgetting to add soap to the washer before running it... I have to make lists to remember what to do for the day when I used to just be able to keep it all in my head.

This thread is making me feel slightly guilty for a) losing LO's toothbrush and b) not using toothpaste yet. Apparently I will be going to the store today. I've been scrubbing his teeth with a washcloth since I lost his toothbrush. spikesmom - LO has 4 teeth, should I take him to the dentist now? And yay for having a local child dental expert in the mix.
ninergirl52 don't feel guilty! There is not a lot of education around early childhood dental care (what I'm working to change). The recommendation is first dental appointment by age 1 regardless of the number of teeth. Depending on where you live it could be difficult to find a dentist to see lo because many general dentists won't see kids under 3 (for a variety of reasons) so you may need to find a pediatric dentist
