I went to Maui a few years ago for 2 weeks and it was unreal! DH and I went to Costa Rica last summer and it was nice. But I can honestly say that out of everywhere I have ever been Hawaii was by far the most beautiful and relaxing! I want to go back with DH sometime, maybe when this one is a few years old.
Dh and I vacation A LOT and have been many places hawaii was my all time fave too
Thanks to this thread-DH and I got the idea of 1 more Aruba trip with DD before DS is born. We just booked it for February! Just have to call my ob in the morning and get his ok. I'm so excited! Here's a few pics from our trip last April
We wend to Aruba for our honeymoon, stayed at all-inclusive and spend all day on the beach, eating and drinking and watching the World Cup, which was awesome because the Netherlands made it to the finals (Aruba is a Dutch colony).
Aruba is my favorite place!!! DH and I were just looking today to see if we could squeeze in 1 more trip there with DD before DS is born
I would love to go back! I'm super jealous you have gone every few years!
Since I live in Florida, my favorite vacation was away from the beach! SO and I spent a week in Utah, what a beautiful state! I fell in love with it. It was also my first time seeing snow (I'm late to the game) and we skied and hiked at Arches National Park. The people are the polar opposite from Miami. Everyone was so warm and welcoming. Hands down will consider moving there for med school if I get accepted.
Question: it seems a few of you have gone on pretty big trips. I guess it's kind of a comment, thanks for the hope! I was a little sad having the realization that our honeymoon was our last kid free trip (we really don't have any babysitters for something like that) so how is it, super fun having LO or... I guess I don't know lol.
DD is 2.5 and we have taken her to the Bahamas, Turks & Caicos, Aruba (and hopefully Aruba again next month!). It's definitely different going with a child-not as relaxing but still SO much fun!! We go to dinners a little bit earlier and don't do as much drinking. But it's awesome to see how much fun DD has and it's great to get that time away as a family
My favorite vaca was spring break my senior year of college. DH (boyfriend at the time) met me and my family in Hawaii for a week. It was a dream vacation to begin with but that week DH asked my parents permission to marry me! I knew he was planning on it so it was a very exciting trip.
Tough one! I think my favorite vacation with DH was our honeymoon in Riviera Maya. I am not normally into the all-inclusive thing but it was perfect after the wedding, moving and a crazy few months.
My favorite vacation ever though was probably Lagos, Portugal when studying abroad in Spain. We went for a long weekend with friends and I fell in love.... We went back a couple more times and I even considered buying a bar there after graduating (total out of the box moment for me). So many favorite places for me though: Australia, Italy, Bermuda, Nicaragua, Turkey....Ugh I would actually list everywhere as a favorite place and top vacation! Too many great places to list.

I think you can still do most vacations with a kid, they are just a little different. You go to bed earlier, you have to schedule things taking naps into consideration, and you definitely add in some kid friendly activities you would never consider otherwise, but it is so much fun seeing the world through young eyes!
For example, we try to take a trip to NYC every few years. This year was our first kid NYC trip, and we had to take turns seeing Broadway shows while one of stayed behind with DS. That sucked, but do you know what was amazing? The subway! OMG! DS loved the subway so much! It was so much fun to see him in awe of such an every day thing we take for granted. Those little things that fill your heart with joy are what you take away from a vacation, and you have plenty of those moments with a kid in tow.
I'll pick my favorite from 2014... We went to Cabo in June with DD, it was her first international vacay and we were so nervous! But she behaved like a dream and it was so much fun! She was a social butterfly, we took her on her first boat ride and she figured out that sand should not be eaten ?

The last few big trips we've been on (Denver, DC, NYC, Hawaii) we either went with friends/family or we went to visit family. It has been awesome. I realize not all families would enjoy vacationing together. Having lots of people around who want to help is great. Traveling with other couples with young children was fun too, because you can trade off child care. If you don't have any friends/family you want to travel with, it is still a lot of fun you just need to plan differently. It has been amazing watching DD explore new places and see animals she would never see at home!
Oooh, good one! Mine was going a two-week vacation to Germany/Austria/Amsterdam with DH. We started in Amsterdam, took the train to Cologne and then stayed in Stuttgart with a family friend. Next on to Munich and Salzburg. I love visiting cities, going to museums, eating and drinking out, but to finish up we went to Zell Am See in the Austrian mountains and laid beside this mountain lake for two days.
I love that vacation.
This photo is so beautiful that it doesn't even look real!
I'm going to cheat and pick 2. Favorite vaca pre baby was our honeymoon in Maui. We stayed at the Ritz Carlton Kapalua for 2 weeks and it was a dream. The second is the week long cruise we took with my family when our son was 9m old. It was so awesome and he did amazing. The room attendants were even so awesome that they kept our ice bucket full 24 hours a day so I could keep my pumped milk cold! (As a lot of pumping was going down so mama could drink it up at night!)
