Hugs to all the mamas having a rough go this weekend . do you have an abundance of milk? Could be a foremilk/hindmilk imbalance?
If you could only see my face... I literally have no idea what you're asking What are foremilk and hindmilk?
. foremilk is the more watery milk that comes out first and then as your baby nurses the fat content increases in your milk and that's hindmilk. This explains it better kellymom.com/bf/got-milk/basics/foremilk-hindmilk/
I don't have energy to catch up on the weekend randoms thread, but I did want to pop on & say hi! We came home from the hospital this afternoon. We're all adjusting. I was able to do DS1's normal bedtime routine with no interruption for DS2, which was a blessing! Now I'm going to feed J & try not to think about the 1st PP BM, which I think is coming soon.
LMAO Ali, you must be really exhausted, don't you have daughters?
Bwahahaha!! Yes I do & yes I am!! I think I got 3 hrs sleep total my entire hospital stay. I've called DD2 by DD1's name to her face 3 times & once in a text to a friend.
Ugh this kid will not sleep at night. He feeds every 45 mins and when he isn't eating, he is crying. I got some sleep during the day but obviously not enough.
rondosa, ok, new question: how do I know if I'm "done" with one side? LO almost always ptfo and falls off the boob, but that doesn't mean he's reached the hindmilk, right? And I guess this should be in the nursing thread... Whoops!
So I have an abundant milk supply and LO was having a couple of these green poops. I was told to only do one breast at a time for a feeding. She inevitably falls asleep on the boob, but if she was only eating for a couple minutes then I use that same boob for the next feeding. Usually if she eats for less than 10 minutes on one boob she will be up in 10-15 minutes anyway to finish it up. We haven't seen a green poop since I started doing this. Please note, whatever boob she feeds on first in the morning always looks waaaaay smaller than the other until after the next feeding.

This!!
However . if you're not sure and baby flakes out while feeding do you try and wake them up? This if D does this I'll change his diaper to wake him up and then offer him the same boob again. If he won't feed again, I'll judge based on his next feeding. If it's within an hour I'll give him the same boob. If it's a couple hours+ I'll switch sides. I try not to be too mathematic about it. If there are no green poops I try not to worry much.

leloyd I am glad you mentioned the boob disproportion. I tend to have Over supply and do I side feedings. The other day I noticed that i am lopsided right before feeds.
