@whirtlem, thanks! It introduced worries I wasn't even thinking about though like a really fast labor and getting there in time. I just don't do well at all not knowing the plan.
Gah! I'm sorry, now I've got you thinking terrible things!
No, the getting checked and being where I am did. I just over think the what ifs.
So who here has not, and probably will not have their cervix checked before L&D? I am in this group. My OB said it's not medically necessary to know how far you are when you get admitted to L&D. They will check then. I am totally ok with it. My FP did not check me either when I was pregnant with DS.
I know this lady who is due a week after me and "OMG she's 1 cm dilated!!" She even put it on FB and said it's almost time. I didn't want to burst her bubble, but I gave her a side eye and thought, "oh honey, you have a long way to go. You could be 3-4 cm dilated and still be walking around" ..this is her 3rd kid.
My OB doesn't check unless I request it.I probably won't get it checked until/unless I get to 40 weeks and am super impatient to know where things are at.

I was feeling great this morning (minus the hip pain) and now I'm feeling SO exhausted. I may leave work to go home and sleep. Especially considering I have zero work to do and I'll be damned if I'm going to ask for some more.

GL finishing your birth plan!
At this point it's more of a "birth wish list"... my real birth plan is "GET THIS THING OUT OF ME!"
That's actually what I label my plan as. A Birth Wishlist. It works for me and I feel like it helps others to know that I am open and know that things can change.

Yea, I figure that the doctors and nurses went to school a lot longer than I did so ultimately if they think something else is safer in my situation (ie: I need a C-Section or one/both of us are in danger) then I completely trust their opinion! I think they're always willing to work with us unless it starts getting really tricky in the delivery room...
***I would like to share that this post... right here... made me a member!

This morning I was getting in my own head and freaking out that LO wasn't moving enough. Of course now she just did a whole fucking tap dance routine in my belly. That squashed that worry. Baby, come out soon so I can stop having crazy thoughts!

36 week appt today, been leaking some type of clear fluid so gonna get that checked. I called L&D and they were no help and said since I already have an appt with the high risk doctor today just tell him about it and the cramps. WTF kind of foolishness is that?
So I'm moving this from thankful (bc I'm not really thankful for it lol) to this page, which I'm officially assuming is our Spam page for the day? I will preface with, "I am currently asking Dr Google" but am still looking for thoughts/comments/concerns from S+TMs...
So, my spam today is more of a question for you S+TM's out there... I was trying to get the general outline of my "birth plan" together last night based on the outline the dump provides and there is a question about the cord and placenta. I really don't know all the information on it but the "options" were:
a)let DH cut the cord b)let DH cut the cord after it stops pulsing
So first question is: any thoughts on which is best, or why you chose what you did?
and second:
a)let placenta come out spontaneously
I've heard of this before but as a FTM I'm not sure what exactly the standards at the hospital are? Any thoughts on this?
I took their crappy text version and turned it into bullet points for what I'd like to happen (deleting the rest). I went with having DH cut the cord after it stops pulsing so LO can get the benefits of the additional blood from the cord. If DH decides he's not so into cutting the cord, that's ok. If they need to cut it sooner to assess LO immediately, that's ok too.
I just got rid of the placenta part and figure I'll just let my doctor go with her standard.
Yeah, it's more a birth wish list, but it's still good to discuss with your doctor and have on file. I think it's better to have thought about what you'd like to happen and understand the circumstances where certain things might not happen, so that if things need to change you've got a clearer idea of why it needs to change.

It's snowing and therefore it's chicken and dumplings, and non-alcoholic pear cider time. Getting home from my appointment was a pain. As soon as the first flakes started falling, traffic slowed way down. It wasn't even sticking at that point.

My damn dryer sucks so bad. I was being good and washing baby sheets and sleeping bags. Both said to tumble dry (I shouldn't have listened and just line dried). Now the sheets don't fit and the sleeping bags shrunk like 25 to 50%. I'm going to see if the sleeping bags will stretch a bit if wet. And I'll just get new sheets.
37wk-ish appt today. I'm GBS+ (boo), but baby doing well- head down and slightly crooked on his side. Not fully sunny-side up but not back up. Hopefully s/he'll rotate into position.

Nine more posts to go! I can do this.
Scheduled post-due eviction date. Baby must come out by Valentine's Day (my OB's on-call that weekend so she's going to be around anyway). I am still hoping he doesn't go that long.

I work mostly from home right now and had a rather efficient morning...so I decided I'd make some decorated chocolate-covered pretzels for DH as an early Valentine's gift, just in case this baby comes beforehand (EDD 2/16, so it's possible). While I think he will like the surprise, I feel like the effort wasn't worth it lol. It also felt very unfair working with all that chocolate and not being able to eat any because of my GD diet. Is it bad I'm optimistic lately about my due date coming up because I'm looking forward to getting sweets and wine back almost as much as I'm looking forward to baby?

3 more days of work! Personal day tomorrow plus ultrasound, plus date night with DH - cannot wait though wish my back/hip weren't killing me. Seriously can barely walk right now and tylenol and heat pad aren't helping OB just chalked it up to late third tri pains...yay. I really don't know how I'm going to get through three more days of work like this. Just hope it lets up soon
So far today I have: treated myself to a hot chocolate/big slice of zucchini bread from local café; returned the library books and picked up some newborn care books to flip through; went to the grocery store and got stuff to make for dinner; dragged ALL of the dirty clothes out of my closet and threw a load in the washing machine; started going through maternity clothes to put away/give back to people lending to me; loaded and started the dishwasher; wiped down the kitchen. I still need to vacuum, start going through my shoes, organize my half of the closet, order nursing bra's/tanks. I might just take a bath and then sit on the couch and watch some Sons of Anarchy instead (and keep doing laundry).

I miss UO and FFFC...I've been lurking the parenting UO today but the pages add up so fast I can't keep up. Last I checked it was at like 36 pages. I have a lot of feels about the bicyclist issues in my city but I'm only on pg 14.... Sigh.... (Insert eeyore-esque moping)
Anyway, hope you ladies have a wonderful day! We are having spring-like weather here, and my garden is starting to bloom! This has been the most mild winter since I moved here.
Random thought regarding the birth plan thing: I think the most important person to communicate your preferences to is your SO/ labour partner. Be straightforward and clear; don't assume s/he knows your preferences or how strongly you feel about certain things. Ask them to speak up for you if you have strong feelings about something. If you're on the fence about most stuff, just ask your Dr/MW what their normal is and go from there.

39 wk appt and no progress still 1 cm and 50% for 3 weeks now. Couldnt do a membrane sweep because they wont do it until 40 wks due to it causing a lot of bleeding? Who knew. Ultrasound scheduled for 40 wks (feb 4) and eviction date set for the 11th! Dr said she doesnt think it will be necessary but who knows. Come on baby come out and play!
My OB checks my cervix, but he's also pretty honest that dilation doesn't mean a whole lot until you are in active labor. He said the main reason he is curious is just to know you can/will dilate and a c-section isn't necessary. So I'm at 1 cm, but I know not to take it seriously.
I had no idea all of those options are available for a birth wish list or why any of them would be desired? I don't know if I want to be enlightened as I may be blissfully ignorant, but hearing about them is interesting. DH knows I want to do vaginal birth with an epi, but that if my doctor tells him something is necessary and I can't give input, that we trust my doctor. He typically doesn't do anything that isn't necessary.
I worked from home after my appointment yesterday and I'm wishing I could do it every day now. Getting dressed to come to work is exhausting.

Welp headed to L&D now. 36 weeks check showed some minimal fluid leakage. Evidently there's an outer bag of fluid that couldve ruptured or the sac has a small tear. Only dilated 1cm so not much. But period like cramping is getting worse.
Re birth wishes, my hope is to avoid an episiotomy this time and hold off on the epi for as long as I can. As others have said I think it's good to get some ideas that you can then talk through with your provider. Oh and wireless monitoring. Eta: and talking through with your provider helps to know if your wishes and their practices match or if you feel strongly about something that is not routine you can push to see if they will allow it baring medical reason not too. Like skin to skin is expected at my hospital but with DS in a different location that is not what they did and it wasn't because he was having issues, it was just routine to clean him up first.

Still here in L&D, supposedly they are trying to flush the contractions out. Whatever the heck that means. Contraaction seem to have gotten more frequent and intense since we've been here. Which confuses me. It seems like they are making them worse. Long night ahead of us.
