Rough night. Bowel cramps causing contractions. 3am visit to OB ER. Saw my OB this morning and she put me on indocin over the weekend to see if it helps the contractions. Cervix was nice and thick, long, closed. So no immediate danger of pre term labor, just trying to keep it that way!!
Anyone with experience with indocin? Please share!

Sorry you are dealing with contractions and hopefully things will stay nice and closed up for you. I have never heard of the drug but I hope it gets the job done.

Indocin (Indomethacin) is the first line treatment for preterm labor (PTL) for women <32wks. Pretty good safety profile overall. They may switch you to Nifedipine later if there are still issues (almost fully cooked babies don't like NSAIDs very much). Have you had issues with a shortened cervix or a uterine anomaly in the past?-- they will probably set you up for a cervical length ultrasound if they haven't already.
In the meantime, lots of TLC for you. Stay hydrated, tell that baby to get nice & fat and/or just slow its roll for debut.
