I am currently pregnant with #3. We had no intentions of doing any kind of shower but one of my elder's wives at the church came up to me this morning and said that we have to get our VBS schedule all figured out so she can plan me a baby shower and how excited she was to be able to throw another shower etc etc. With my first my best friend threw my shower and I didn't have one for my second so my church has never had a chance to throw me one. Socially I know showers for 2+ kids are considered tacky but would it be rude to turn her down? If not, how do I do so tactfully? With my best friend I just told her outright that I didn't want another shower. But I'm not that close/open with this woman. Do I just shut up and accept the generosity?
Is it just for church? And do they do it for every mom? That kind of changes things for me. I think I would just accept it if so, since this is something they just do and it's like a huge party like a real shower would be. If not, I would probably say nicely that you weren't planning on having a shower this time and see how she reacts.
