runningmommy519 I was drinking a gallon of water a day and when I told my LC she said too much water can be bad for your supply. She said drink half your body weight in oz and throwing in some electrolytes helps too. Obviously if its working for you, keep doing it!
Anecdotal butI was killing myself to drink that much and stressing about it. I had to do compressions the entire time to pump 4oz at each session. Now I've cut back on water and drink to my thirst and I'm getting what I need to when pumping. I'm also doing steel cut oats and Brewers yeast because I desperately want to pump more than the bare minimum.
In case anyone else goes through a nursing strike. Right now what is working ISO take some pumped milk and put it into my shield before trying to get him to latch. He will go for it and latch with some already there. It still sucks but at least he's nursing.
I've read over hydrating can lower supply but obviously being dehydrated does too. I love when there is no clear answer.
ETA I pump twice a day - once after my AM feed and once replacing a PM feed while A gets a bottle. I finally made it up to 3-4oz a session total and felt like a freaking hero. Then I read about people pumping 10oz+ - ha!
