We are already in a winter storm watch for Thursday. I am torn between "Wahoo no travel " and "aw I don't want to miss it ". We will see tomorrow what the hour by hour is.

I'm sick as a dog yesterday and today. I dropped the kiddo off at daycare and am hanging by myself wallowing in my snot. Half of me is thinking"woohoo maybe I can skip it tomorrow at the Inlaws!" And then, I don't really want to miss it.

Based on the previous drama, I hadn't made it to the store to get all the food for Thanksgiving or even just groceries for the week. I decided to go last night after putting Liam to bed. It was the best decision ever. I had a ridiculous list of things to get so I was there for over an hour and there was hardly anyone in the store. I may always do holiday grocery shopping at 10pm on a weeknight from now on!

Oh and my bet about the time for thanksgiving dinner? I was so not wrong. She told us meal would be served by noon, latest 1pm because we have acop in the family who had to go on duty to work the stupid walmart opening that evening. Guess what time turkey was done? 3. Toddler was delirious by then and didn't want to touch dinner so she had filled up on cheese and crackers (as we all did). Meal was over in 15 minutes flat. Bwahaha ha.
H needed a new suit and JCP had 60% off and he had $20 off for his birthday. So we went out and did that. Also hit up target and got some crayola virtual studio thing for my niece, glow in the dark playdoh and a storm trooper potato head for T. Also picked up a new maternity tank that was on sale! So nothing crazy, but got a few things. And we got a new printer on Amazon for cheap.

I got H a sound bar from Amazon for $80. He's had his eye on it for a year but it's $179, so this was a really good deal!
I also got my niece the little people princess castle for $27, normally $60. I got Tyler a Thomas the train snowy mountain set for $50, usually $130. Other than that there wasn't a ton that really excited me. I haven't gone anywhere, just online shopping
We went to Bergners and I got a cute top for my Mom and a nice wallet for my sister but I need some more ideas for them! She mentioned she needs a nice aroma diffuser for her house (low maintenance one), anyone have any they like?
origamimommy that sound bar sounds like a good deal!!

I got some people done, but nothing exciting. A split between online and running around today. Wasn't out last night, but took advantage of extra coupons this morning. I'm mostly done with H, Cosette, great grandma, 2 cousins, BFF, 1/2 done with the moms. So I made a dent. But with 37 people it's so daunting. We went to take Cosette to a movie this afternoon and they are sold out until Sunday. Wtf. So we came home and started decorating our house.

We tried for the peanuts movie first, then the Good dinosaur, birth sold out. Bought tickets for tomorrow, yesterday. Oh well. We have a nice clean house. Today we are doing thanksgiving 2.0 and have a bit more of our shopping done. What a relaxing weekend. Everything is decorated, but waiting on getting our tree. My older big dog is really really having trouble walking. I'm sad. Selfishly I want her to make it thru the holidays. We have to board her because no one will watch her with her issues and having to carry her up and down stairs. We can't drive with her the 14 hour drive either. Ugh, I'm already starting to worry about it and it's a month away!
Thank God for black Friday at home with my mom! I got all my shopping done for the kids, my neices and nephews, my inlaws and dh. Most of it is wrapped and ready to go. I have to finish stockings and order some tickets online for my parents. Then I'm done. It's not even December and I'm done! Yay!!
I am not sure what to do for gifts for Emmett's preschool teachers. He is in an unusual preschool that is inside the local technical high school. There is a preschool teacher prep program, so the students run the preschool with the help of their instructors. There are 14 juniors and 14 seniors who work with his class, alternating each week. Then there is the head instructor and assistant instructor who are the teachers to the students and run the preschool. That is 30 teachers. I am not sure how to handle that. Any suggestions? What would you do?

lainikins first being that head teacher in that high school would be my dream job. Second could you do a lunch or breakfast for them? Order pizza or something? They are high school students so they probably don't expect a lot- maybe a donation for the school so they can by supplies for a fun project?

lainikins, could you offer to do a pizza party for the class? Ugh otherwise, are there any deals out there for $5 giftcards for mcdonalds, Starbucks or something where you might get some free if you buy so many? That is way more than I budget for my teachers and we have 2-4 main and 4/5 floating assistants and 2 directors. What about a couple big tubs of popcorn and a small GC for the 2 mains.

I was going to second what @bellaxanthe and starfishy said and do breakfast (like Pastries and juice) or lunch (pizza or subs). High schoolers love free food.
Great idea about the food. I will have to ask what their food policy is with allergies to see if that will work. I know the district I worked at was super strict about food. Hopefully that lightens up by high school.
xanthepants - you buy for 37 people!!!! Holy cow. I feel like we buy for a lot but it wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for the 18 nieces and nephews.
HOLY MOLY!!!! I would lose my mind trying to find that many gifts! My H isn't close to his family at all, so we just send Harry and David baskets to them. For my family, my parents are split so we do gifts for my mom and step-dad, and then on my dad's side, we do a (not)Secret Santa with my brother, his wife, his 3 kids, my dad, my step-mom, me, my H and our two kids. Everyone gets one adult and one child to buy for. Boom. Done. I LOVE it!
I think it was the Christmas after my brother's youngest was born that his kids got gifts from me, my mom, my dad, and everyone on my SIL's side of the family too and they were like CRAZY hopped up and greedy, so my brother floated the idea that we just pare it down to one gift a piece and it's soooooo nice. I wish my mom and dad were amicable and we could include everyone, but sadly those fences are just never going to heal I think.

Yeah 37 is crazy and we already incorporate a White Elephant into my extended side so we don't do gift for them (and cut it to 1) and then do a Secret Santa for my immediate adults in my family. It's mainly his side that is the issue. The shipping kills the budget on my side and the quantity on his side. Oh well. I plan for it and start saving early so it's not a financial gut punch. I just wish sometimes it was more meaningful stuff, but that is hard to come with time and time again.

The only adults we buy for (other than each other) are DHs parents and my stepdad. We used to draw names with our siblings for a while but we all agreed to quit after we kept passing gift cards around. We did a white elephant years ago when DHs family (all 5 kids, all grandkids and grandparents) were all together and it was a blast! We would likely do it again if we are ever all together for Christmas again.

I did a program like that in high school. I think a heartfelt card for the students would be fine. If you really want to give them something, maybe a small dd gc???

I have been doing most of my Christmas shopping from my phone or computer this year because I can't seem to find time to get to the store alone. (I miss being able to shop for Liam's gifts while he was with me!) As a result I haven't been paying close attention to everything I've been buying and I have bought way too much! I'm terrified to add up all the charges!
