SO. We're starting our house projects to get this place on the market. First room is the bathroom because it needs the least amount of work. All we're doing is painting and getting new blinds. But I have no idea what color to paint.. the trim will be white, and here's a pic of the bathroom. The floor is a tan color and we don't want a tan because both bedrooms and the living room are tan. HALP.

Agree with nicb's pic above. Something light in color because it is a bathroom and will give it the effect of looking larger, and light colors tend to trick the mind into thinking it looks cleaner (not that your bathroom isn't clean, just having the lighter color will probably be more appealing to buyers).

DH bought this house 9 years ago and picked HORRIBLE paint colors. Hence the lime green and navy trim in the bathroom. And check out the bedroom... I cant wait to paint in there...

I feel you on the paint colors from previous owners. When we bought this house, the walls in all of the living spaces were LAVENDER. Various shades of pastel purple. It was gross.

Its not even previous owners. DH painted all these horrible colors. Like, he CHOSE them. Aaaah!
Not to mention the horrible wood paneling from the 70s all throughout the living room.
Can you tell I hate this house!?
Ahhh. I hate wood paneling! We looked at so many houses with it.
Since the upper portion of the wall has a hideous texture and we dont wanna do all new drywall, we're ripping down the paneling and replacing it with the nicer white wainscoting. Here's a pic. Notice the missing trim? Yeah, thats also all over. Random pieces missing. And he painted trim in the hallway black.
I already told him that. I was playing around and suggested this like neon orange and he's like yeah with white trim that doesn't look bad! I'm like OMG NO I WAS KIDDING. And then I told him he has horrible taste in paint colors and he's not picking in the new house.

Im late to this conversation but your house looks a lot like our house before the fire. Afterwards, it was gutted and now it looks all pretty. But, you can paint panelling and I think it looks good. Obviously, it is better to replace it if you can, but in pinch, it works and looks fine.
Our bathroom looks a lot like yours too. We did white wai escoating or beadboard or whatever its called, about 5-6 feet up and then painted a sky blue above that. I love it because it really brightens up the bathroom with just a little color. And it looks good with out tan floor. If you want pics, I can show you. Good luck with everything!

Painting is a PITA, but it makes such a huge difference to buyers for a relatively low investment (other than tired, achey muscles from painting!) I'm sure you've thought of this already, but for resale value light, neutral colors and white trim are a pretty safe bet. We replaced wood panelling with drywall when we moved in and it was a but of expense. I've seen panelling primed and painted before and it looks decent.
