s/o bottle feeding - how much is your LO taking?

- How old is your baby?
- How many ounces are they taking each feeding?
- It is breastmilk, formula, or a combo? Does the content influence how much they take?

My daughter has taken two breastmilk bottles, each about 3 ounces. She's only 4 weeks old and I'm wondering if that's too much based on kellymom, but she seems to really want that much. We are doing the paced bottle feedings.

My baby is 6w3d. She takes a half and half bm and formula bottle 4oz every 3 hours during the day, 5 hours at night. When we went to MN last weekend, it was just formula and she took the same 4oz. Since we got back and went back to half and half, she doesn't seem as full after. Last night I had to give her 2 more ounces an hour after feeding to get her to sleep.

DS is just over 4 weeks. 4 oz in one sitting - he will down 3 immediately and finish the fourth after burping- strictly formula feeding. He's hitting a growth spurt so he has eaten 6 to 8 oz in an hour a few times, but that's not the norm.

DS is just over 8 weeks old. He will take just under 3oz of formula 7-8 times a day. Sometimes he goes 2 hours between feedings sometimes 4 or 5 hours. He seems hungry right after but if I wait ten minutes he is usually fine. I will give him his soother right after a bottle because sometimes I think he just wants to suck more.

LO takes 1-2 bottles a week, so not a lot of practice. I usually heat up 3 oz of bm, and she takes between 2-3 oz.

Mostly breast milk; they get about 20-24 oz each of BM per day and anywhere from 0-6 oz of formula, depending on how hungry they are that day. Back when we were giving a lot more formula, content didn't influence quantity eaten.

DS is 6 weeks and drinks about 3 oz of BM each feeding, which is every 2-3 hours during the day and every 4-5 hours at night.

FWIW, I think it depends more on weight than on age.

ok sounds like 3 ounces is very normal! I have totally blocked out DD1's newborn stage, lol.

Don't give a lot of bottles right now. But I remember with DD that content does matter when deciding how much to give. As the babies get older, they will need more formula. But if you are nursing, your body will automatically start adding more calories to the BM as the kids need it. So, the amount of BM they are getting won't increase as much as formula would.
