Good morning! I've been up since 4am and have already flown halfway across the country. Now I'm home sweet home and parked on my favorite chair, and DD is still with grandma. It's time to chill.
We're just hanging around the house before we go to church tonight. We turned my DS' water table into a sand table, and right now he's flipping out because I made him come inside for throwing sand everywhere. Sheesh...disciplining kids at such a young age (and I'm sure any age) is so tough!!
I keep checking the weather in Mexico and praying the weather is good so DH can leave the oil rig and come home. I'm really hoping he can be home by Wednesday to see my son get his cast off! Then Friday is my NT scan.
I still can't decide whether or not to do the extra genetic testing that was offered. I don't know if I want to find out the sex this early or wait until the anatomy scan.... I can't decide which would be more fun.
cattuccino hangovers are unacceptable here too. Luckily (well not so much but sort of) he takes medication that he is no longer allowed to drink. So neither of us will be having hangovers anymore.
txmommy14 hoping for good weather! Would be so nice for your H to be home for both of those events!
We had bagels (finally!) and lattes for breakfast but now I want second breakfast. But I'm laying in bed for a quick nap before all the Sunday festivities begin
Heading out to lunch soon with my Mom and Grandmother. I'm a little stressed about it because my Mom and I do not see eye to eye about politics and she is going to have a LOT to say about Paris. I've been able to deal with it so far because it was over the phone and I can excuse myself from the conversation. I had a dream last night that I accidentally told my students I was pregnant. I was SO relieved when I woke up and realized it was a dream.
I just got out of bed. I keep waking up around 5 for awhile and today I could fall back to sleep. I have to tutor from 1-9 so I don't feel bad being lazy.

I need banana chocolate chip pancakes sooooooooooo badly now!!!
My H is cute. He's basically stopped drinking entirely since I've been pregnant because he says he feels so bad drinking when I can't. Every now and then he asks me for "permission" to drink a beer, which makes me laugh. He never has more than one though. Maybe me being pregnant will be good for his waistline (not to mention his liver)!
vivela when do you plan on telling your students? I'll be 13 weeks just before the Christmas break so I was thinking of telling them then. I figure it will give their parents some time to adjust. They gave the last pregnant teacher a really hard time.

I am going to see if I can get past Christmas break before I tell most of my coworkers (it pretty much depends on my size). I'll be about 14 weeks right before break and I just prefer to wait longer rather than shorter if I can. As for the kids, I'm not sure I'm going to do any sort of announcement. I haven't really decided. It feels somehow awkward to tell a bunch of teenagers that I'm pregnant I might let it come up organically in conversation, or I'll probably post a simple announcement photo on instagram, baby shoes with a "guess what!" caption or something. A bunch of them follow me on Instagram because one class found me and they pass on the info every year now (it is all pictures of my dogs). But that would get the word out.
The parents gave a pregnant teacher a hard time? That is crazy to me. I work in a small town, which has its disadvantages, but when teachers get pregnant it is very warm and fuzzy "let's get together and buy her some onesies" type thing.
Anyone here a knitter? I just picked it back up after many years. I finished a scarf recently and I was thinking about doing a blanket, maybe a baby blanket. There is just so much information out there about yarn types and circular needles vs. straight, I'm not sure where to start!

Accordinging to some parents here, teachers should not be allowed to get pregnant and deliver during the year. They should be paid to stay off work and shouldn't be allowed to return mid-year either. Their teacher two years ago had her baby early and some of the parents lost their mind.
I'm in elementary school so I guess it's different. Our school is also in a very wealthy neighborhood and people are used to getting what they want.

Eta because I forgot how to write.
Parents who think they can control when a teacher has a baby and when she should be allowed to work? They sound fun!

1. Fuck them. 2. You're due in June. Shouldn't affect them much if at all, yes? 3. Fuck them.

Wow, that is crazy. I can't imagine dealing with parents like that. I think I'll probably wait to tell my students until after Christmas break. Their social studies teacher was pregnant last year so they will love that I am now too. I won't miss any school, which I'm happy about. I'm kind of a control freak about certain classes.

I knit! I wouldn't call myself good necessarily. I've done a few blankets. I've done then on straight needles, but circular would be good because it can give you extra length for your stitches
packerfan4life, those blankets are lovely! The blue one with the leaf-like pattern is so impressive. My skills are limited to alternating knit and purl to make stripes I think I'm going to go to the knitting shop tomorrow near where I live and ask for some recommendations. I've gotten in the habit of having something to do with my hands while I watch TV and I miss it now that my scarf is done.
ok learned crochet first. My great grandmother taught me as a kid but I was always too tense. I taught myself in university and have made a few blankets.

Those blankets are amazing! I taught myself in college and quickly learned I don't have the patience for knitting. Maybe crochet but doubtful, especially with 2 LOs.
packerfan4life totally impressed! I tried knitting a scarf once and one side was twice as thick as the other. I gave up after that. You could sell yours, they're beautiful.

Andrea, My grandmother was a fabulous crochet-er and these completely remind me of items she made. Every new baby got an afghan from her and seeing yours on here are just making me smile this morning!!
I've always enjoyed crochet - but only with super fat hooks (M) and super fat yarn. I have never been able to make my initial chain even enough to make anything besides chunky scarves. You're stuff is lovely!!!
vivela I'm a knitter...kind of still a beginner. My mom is fantastic and she taught me. But when I get stuck you tube is a fabulous tool, there are so many tutorials. That's where my mom and I learned to knit with the "magic loop" which simplifies things.
