I was going to post a picture of sardines after I read through all of the random posts, but then decide that would probably make everyone barf. Ew. You're welcome.
I feel a little guilty for making everyone almost barf just by mentioning it. But I swear I really did type "saltines" and my phone just fucking hates me.

txmommy14, I'm so happy for you on all accounts!!! Have a GREAT next few days! And thanks for the cheesecake pic instead of sardines (now I want cheesecake)
So much to catch up on, it's been a super busy day so far but I had to log in and check in with all of y'all! HAPPY BIRTHDAY virginiaorjohn!!! I hope it's the best year yet, and I have a feeling it's going to be! So sorry for everyone feeling sick! And for those of you not feeling sick, DON'T WORRY, I barely had any first trimester symptoms with my DS, and I had tons of symptoms with my miscarriage.
Today is a HUGE DAY for us!!!
-First, my DOG kept me up all night. He was licking and kept shaking his collar. I was so annoyed, finally at 3am I turned on the lights like, "WTH is wrong with you?!" It turns out he had a HUGE, pussy (sorry, gross, I know) hot spot on his chest/neck area. Goldens (especially my dog, because he is an English Cream Golden Retriever), have terrible allergies, and this is probably what caused it. Anyways, after my crazy morning, I brought him to the vet. He ended up also having double ear infections! With it all said and done (two antibiotics, ear cleaning, testing of samples, appointment, wound care), we paid $500 today! Hopefully he will be feeling better soon though. I feel terrible I didn't notice earlier, but it was hard to see because he has a ton of fur.
-My DS GOT HIS CAST OFF!!!! So exciting! They sawed it off and did more x-rays (which he hated, my MIL came since I can't go in the x-ray room), then showed us exactly where the break was. They told us it would probably take him a week or two to walk again since his ankle has been so stiff for 5 weeks now. Nope, he walked out of that place like it was no big deal! Sad my DH never got to see him in it.
-Lastly and most exciting, DH IS COMING HOME TONIGHT!!!!!!! I got a phone call LATE last night from him and started crying tears of joy when I saw his name because I knew that meant he was back onshore and had access to his phone! It has been a long month and a half! I hadn't even heard his voice in a few weeks. So I've been rushing around all day trying to get things done. I picked up a cookie cake from a bakery that says "Welcome Home" and made a sign for DS to told. I'm a little nervous DS will be unsure when he sees him, it's been so long. I hope he gets a good reaction. EEEK, so excited! I am usually not into first trimester sex and feel bad for my DH about it, but obviously that's not going to apply over the next few days! We also got a babysitter Friday night so we can go out just the two of us...seriously don't know if we've ever done that!
Sorry for the longest random post ever and for making it a "Dear Diary." Here is some cheesecake for making it so far:
Yay a for all of this!!! I think your DS is a little bit older than mine? But I know when H comes home after a loooooonnnggg time he kind of looks at him funny a second but remembers fairly quickly that his daddy is back home. I hope he just goes straight to excited that daddy is home! Enjoy your husband! (This baby was conceived after a long trip lol)

Don't feel guilty! I thought it was hilarious. And hey, I'm always surprised how many people like sardines! No thank you, I did buy some Saltines yesterday though, mmmm!
txmommy14 I'm so excited your H is coming home!!! I'm glad he made it back before the holiday. Enjoy your reunion, and good call on getting the sitter so that you can have a little bit of alone time!
I lose my cool with one of my classes so much. I go over directions slowly and multiple times, and they still ask the same things I just went over. I wish I could blame it on pregnancy, but I'm pretty sure this would happen even if I wasn't pregnant.
Guys, I've missed you and missed posting. I had some crazy work-related stuff happen last week and I'm still really shaken about it. Basically, I had a colleague who had a major medical emergency and cannot work for the foreseeable future (and maybe never again). I've taken on the majority of her workload, and I am physically and emotionally exhausted. This will definitely provide a financial increase, but I would rather have more down time at this point. I've been pretty clear that I can help out for several months, but not forever. It will mean way less TCF time for me.
On the bright side, I have started vomiting way less, which has been great!

I'm so sorry! That sounds so stressful. So sorry for your colleague as well. Glad you're feeling a bit better!

babyzebra holy moly! Sorry for the added workload! We miss you too! I'm sorry about your colleague and I hope this added work doesn't add much stress for you....I hope you can catch a break and are being acknowledged for what you've taken on.
My random. I just found out I'm a room parent and need to organize gifts for my sons two teachers for Christmas. I'm a crappy gift giver because I'm not very creative. Anyone have a suggestion for a preschool teacher gift?
I'm feeling pretty good today, though the girls are getting over a cold. My 4 year old barely has a voice.... Which is kinda nice , since she can't shriek any more:)
Also, borrowed my friends Doppler and used it last night and today, and it's totally reassuring to hear that little thumping.

Starbucks GC? Liquor store GC?
Do you know if they have to supply things for the classroom themselves? Then a crafting, bookstore or supply store GC?
txmommy14, BEST UPDATE EVER!!! Except for your poor doggie - Hope he feels better soon! Hope you guys have the best homecoming ever and I bet that DS will be so excited to see him!

What they REALLY want falls under the categories of cash or gift cards and I'd add in something extra like flowers, or a plant from the class.
I had a conversation just last night with a teacher friend of mine about this very thing. Of course they appreciate any gift but if you really want to show your appreciation for all they do give them something they really want. Personal taste can hard to determine so that's where cash and gift cards come in. Plus a lot of teachers don't make as much as they deserve so I like that this gives them the opportunity to treat themselves to something special.

Agree with this, especially if you are organizing something as a room parent and can pool money from all the kids. $10-$15 from each family should make for a decent sized giftcard to amazon/target/wherever. If you want to do something sentimental/cute along with it, like a mug or a picture frame, that is fine - but I would have that be a small thing in addition to the gift card.

That is THE BEST though!! Soso happy for you!!!!
No worries, I do it too. I'd like a post just for a picture of cheesecake too!!!
Hi everyone! I've had a crazy busy day, but I wanted to pop in and let you know I couldn't weedle my way into an ultrasound. But the spotting was one time, after dealing with constipation (tmi, sorry), and things seem ok now. Talking to the nurse made me feel better, because she said it sounded totally normal and just to call if it continued. They also had me stop by for a urinalysis in case there was any infection involved. I'm bummed I couldn't finagle at least a Doppler, but I know it is early for that anyway.

txmommy14 what a day! Let us know how your DS reacts to the homecoming!
My random for the day: I made pancakes for dinner. I've been craving them for weeks but haven't felt up to making them and MH didn't get the hint. They were amazing and I'm looking forward to the leftovers for breakfast!
