It is so quiet here today! And it's not just this board. Where is everyone?

I'm sitting here trying to figure out what to buy people for Christmas. I'm stuck on my niece. She's in 6th grade and I am way too removed from the 11/12 year old world to even remotely know what's cool at that age anymore!

I'm here! Still trying to get rid of this cold ... it's been over a week! Ugh. My 6 days off is coming to an end and I am not looking forward to going back only because I am back on days for two weeks and it is going to be brutal waking up at 4:45 after not doing it for over a month.

Here too. It's our busy week at work so I always have a hard time keeping up this week. Wish I could just go back to sleep though!!

I'm here too! Just braved the cafeteria construction to get some lunch. We're switching over food providers right now and they are overhauling everything. It's pretty crazy. At least the new food stations that are coming sound pretty good.

Would she at all be into Bath & Body Works kinds of things? I hoarded lotions and shower gels like there was no tomorrow back then and I feel like good smelling things are fairly universal. Or maybe a cute Vera Bradley-ish tote or duffel bag for going and hanging out at friends' houses? Scarves?

I'm thinking of things that my 14 year old niece really liked Christmases past.

Those are great suggestions. Kids that age typically want to be grown up, so I wouldn't get toys or anything specifically geared for kids.

ohinvrtedworld, Bath and Body Works stuff might be good. I'm sure she would love some sparkly smell-good lotions and other stuff from there. She told my mom that she wants clothes from Charlotte Russe but I think that stuff is still a little old/trendy for an 11 year old.

I am interviewing for a retail job to have income while I wait for my background check to come back.

sleepymonkey I loved music, books, Bath and Body works products when I was that age (actually still do). Maybe a cute gift basket they have at this time of the year? Nail polish with manicure set? Scarves? Earrings?

Present. Boss is gone until next week, so naturally I'm Christmas shopping and playing around on here!

I finally made an appointment to see a doctor about all the anxiety I've been feeling over the past few years. Recently it's just gotten to where it interferes too much with my day to day life. I wake up every morning around 3 just stressing and worrying about useless things and just can't ever get good sleep. I constantly feel like a zombie.

Legit - my favorite thing to get when I was that age was a gift card to somewhere cool. It felt so grown up to go in and pick out my own stuff and pay for it myself.

This would probably not work for a kid who already has her own money from an allowance or something.

Thank you! I hope he can too. I've been saying I'm going to do something about it for months on end but now that it's interfering so badly with my sleep and marriage, I think it's time to do something about it.

Internet connectivity issues at work. The wireless is working, but the wired is not. This means my phone doesn't work, and neither does my primary laptop (provided by big parent company, isn't set up to use the division's wifi).

So... yea. All my shit is not accessible. Two options: Stay here and do mostly nothing, or go home and actually work. #toughdecisions

So many of those remind me of my sister. Though we are technically both considered millennials she is 5 years younger than me and definitely fits the bill better lol. 

ETA: Though I definitely deserve "looked up from their phone" and "ate a meal without IGing it".

I guess I'm technically a Millennial (Wikipedia says so) - but I think there's a big difference between 80's and 90's kids so I have a hard time identifying as such. To me a millennial was born circa 1990.

I totally agree. I was born in '86 and my sister was born in '91 and I feel like there is a difference between us for sure. I actually didn't even realize I was considered a Millennial until a few months ago. I always assumed I was grouped into Gen Xers.
