Etching things yourself is super easy, you can get etching cream and stencils at Micheal's.  Might be worth checking out if etched glasses on etsy or wherever are too expensive.

Did this work for you?  Every year I tell H I'm tired of him not helping with Christmas gifts and that he needs to give me ideas and he comes up with the dumbest stuff.  Like if we had separate finances I would let him spend his money on that crap but we don't so I just can't do it.

Yes, it worked because this year I was serious. I told him that either he picked out his parents gifts or they weren't getting any and he could tell them. I had been suggesting things like the DIY spa gift basket for his mom and stuff but he kept vetoing everything I said and I know no matter what I choose they aren't going to like it so I just told him to pick it because I was done trying.

They are the rules set forth by his parents. It has to be something purchased from a store. No gift cards and nothing handmade. His parents are very strange and would not appreciate or know what to do with anything handmade. They are very material people with high end tastes who have enough money to buy whatever they want so with those rules shopping for them is nearly impossible because I don't really want to spend more than $25-30 on each of them.

Honestly, I would refuse to get them anything, sorry but you don't get to set rules for gifts.

ETA I wish H's parents would make rules like this b/c then I really would leave their gifts in his hands and not give one shit if he ended up not getting them anything, as long as he stayed w/i the budget.
