Dh went out for formula. We went through the extra milk today. What is it about supplementing that makes me feel so inadequate? I hate it.
Gah I know. But you're doing a perfect job of being a mother. There's more to it than providing milk from your boobs. You're keeping her fed and that's the main thing! Hugs

It's all those hormones mama and nothing about you. If you need to supplement for a few days (or always!) you are doing what is best for your baby and by extension doing what is best for you. Keep up with the pumping if that's what you want to do, and when life settles back to normal after this storm/traveling, so will your feeding relationship.

I really like earth mama angel baby shampoo/body wash. It's really gentle with a faint mild scent and is a pump/foam so not a lot of lathering required. You can subscribe and save a large bottle from Amazon. We've used it from day one and still use it. I've tried Honest soaps and found them to be a bit drying for my DS. Ewg.org is a good resource for soaps/lotions if you are looking for organic/natural options
I'm gonna loose it over pumping. Im stressing that it's not enough. I'm pumping barely enough for the next feed. And f the pump. My nipples are so sore and blistered.
I was not able to pump enough for dd. I seriously let it drive me crazy. It was all I thought and talked about to anyone. I was really stressed about it, which I am sure made things worse. I ate everything anyone suggested. I took Fenugreek, I did the mother's milk tea. Nothing really helped. I was miserable. I finally gave myself an out when we were flying to MA for Thanksgiving and It was going to be impossible/unbearable to pump while traveling.
I would seriously pump for 40 minutes each session like 5+ times a day. Plus I was still having to supplement with formula.
It saved my sanity once I stopped. I was actually able to enjoy dd a lot more. Now I don't know how I did it for as long as I did.
I am just sharing my experience. Do what you feel is best for you and your family.

Not too bad last night. But it takes forever to get this baby down to sleep initially. It took me from 10-1 of mostly cluster feeding to finally get him down. Which I think is crazy bc during the day I'm like giving him an ice bath to keep him awake long enough for a feeding. But I guess newborns don't make a lot of sense. Then he woke at 3 and was back down by 3:30 and then finally woke at 7:30. Again sleeping in his crib, which made it easier for me to go in and change him and nurse him and get him back in bed. It's 8 now and I actually feel pretty rested.

He's in the nursery. It's better for us. We have the monitor set up so when I hear him I go in and have all the room and can turn on lights and spend time getting him back to bed. I could never nurse in bed and my incision is still sore so it's nice to be able to just get up and work on getting him back to bed in his room.
Sorry about the cluster feeding, surfmama106! We started that last night, too. That's great he is doing well in the crib! We plan to transition there from the PacknPlay at 4 weeks.
DS2's new routine is: nurse, poop, somehow pee on everything while I'm cleaning the poop even though he is covered, change clothes, "pretend" to fall back asleep but instead get the hiccups and want to nurse again. Repeat as often as necessary until sunrise.
I can't get out of this PPD haze. My house is a mess and all I want us to crawl into bed, except the mess is giving me anxiety. I need a maid.
Hugs. Do you feel like the meds are helping? Also ask for help when you need it, and the mess in the house is not as important as you taking care of yourself.

The first two days were great, now I'm just waiting the month-ish for them to really kick in.

Can you get someone to come in and clean? Do what you need to do in order to take care of you, so you can take care of your littles!
I was thinking about it, but I think what would help most is if I had a few kid-less hours to get it all done. I'm going to ask Dh about taking them somewhere.

That seems like a good answer! Put on some music or a show for background noise, and get shit done!

How about sending the kids out with DH AND having someone to clean so you can get some real "you" time
So this baby feeds much better on one side then the other. Still working on latch on the bad side but due to the shape and size of my nipple I don't ever foresee it being great. I'm worried about engorgement/mastitis developing on that side. Is it possible for that side to regulate and produce less?

This happened with me. My left produces less. In the beginning it would get so engorged. Football hold or cross cradle helped the most. With time it regulated.

A stud and a dud. It's very common. Just keep offering and you should be able to avoid problems.
lucanjo14, have you thought about a nipple shield or anything for that side?
The nipple shield is my last resort, per the lactation consultant. I can get her to latch but it's def harder and I don't think she drains that side as well. If I have to I'll use it but hoping to avoid it. I'm feeling like we may actually be able to make breastfeeding work this time though, trying to stay positive.

You got this! Just wanted to check in and make sure you had explored your options.
lucanjo14 Same here. My right boob does all the work almost. Lefty produces way less now, but I still offer it every other feed just to keep things flowing.
