It's sounds callous but just prioritize yourself for a few minutes a day. You deserve to eat a meal! Or a snack. Babies can fuss for a few minutes, older kids can be told "no, this is mommy's food" or you can suggest they play in their room. DD1 is 4 so this works. When she was younger I'd put her in the high chair with play doh, or water color paint & it would buy me a good 20-30 min of peace.
I do my best to make myself a meal when I feed DD1 & eat with her while LO sleeps or I hold/wear her. The other day I made mac & cheese and ate it with DD1 while nursing (putting baby down while draining pasta & making the cheese sauce, of course). It's not ideal but we all got fed.
I put a snack at her small table and then run and hide to eat. Usually LO is in my arms. But if goldfish, animal crackers, or a clementine is at her table, she won't hunt me down!
Pretty much- I give her something to snack on and then I go eat something more delicious in another room.
When times get rough I either nurse in a carrier or just put the baby down and eat. She can fuss for five minutes and live. But I'm good at eating one handed.
The 14 pounds of baby weight I'm still carrying are proof I'm good at making time to eat lol
Eta: it helps that DD1 is picky. I just eat things she doesn't like
We all still eat meals together. We eat breakfast around 7, and LO is usually sleeping. For lunch, I eat during naps usually. Dinner is always together. We take turns holding LO or I try to get her down for a nap during dinner.
