Sounds like he definitely has some separation anxiety issues. That's really tough. What breed is he? I've heard sometimes that those thunder shirts can be helpful for anxious dogs. That's rough about he rain -- from the way it sounds you don't have a way to let him out without being with him (like no fence etc)? Otherwise I'd say just leave him out for like 10-15 min and make him learn that he has to potty and then praise for when he does but if there is no fence that wouldn't really work.
He is a weimaraner. We had another one for 13 years, so we already knew about the separation anxiety when it comes to that breed, and have tried the thunder shirt. If we try and leave him outside, he tears at the door, so we have to be out there. And we don't really mind going out there with him, we just don't want to be standing there telling him to go potty and then have him be chicken shit over a few rain drops to where he wont pee, even if he has to.
Aww I love weimys. That really sucks that he will tear at the door. It's so weird to me that dogs can get so picky about things like rain and snow. My chocolate lab isn't a huge fan of rain, though not to that extreme, but she looooves the snow. I'm like dude you do know that it's just rain but frozen, silly dog.

I also think that part of it is that I didn't want another Weim. Since we had already had one for 13 years, I knew exactly what they were like and didn't want to feel tied down to a dog that was high energy with separation anxiety. But here I am, my husband won, and he got the breed he wanted (again). Our four year old was siding with him when it came to the dog, but now that we have him, she is like "Mom, I think that I want that golden doodle that you want instead of this dog..." But we are already stuck with him and his countless vet bills......ugh.

My DH holiday party is tonight and it's supposed to snow tonight and I don't like driving in the snow so I might say I'm sick and puking to get out of it.
Also, my day doesn't go well unless I have Macdonald hotcakes and sausage...so bad, but my body wants it.

So this is going to sound super weird, but the rain thing might be because of the allergies/irritation. My asthmatic orange tabby manx cat was in for an emergency visit with our vet once and someone else was their with their two weims. It had been raining and the rain had irritated the allergies on the pads of the dogs' feet. The vet explained to both me and the owner of the dogs' that the genes that make the dogs all gray and the cat all orange is kind of like a slight form of albinism. This makes them more prone to allergies and asthma.
That doesn't change anything, but your dog could be really irritated by the rain. In these dogs, it caused their feet to crack and bleed.
DH is coming back from a trip today. I am exhausted and working today (althought right now I am mostly interneting). I might get the pizza on teh way home and then tell DH he needs to have playtime with DD since he was gone all week...so I can go nap.

But do you think that it would be the same for giving a bath? I mean, water is water, so I would assume that if that was the case, he would have hard time with the shower head that I use when I am giving him his hypoallergenic shampoo/conditioner. He actually doesn't mind getting a shower. I told my husband that maybe we need to get him a rain jacket. HAHA

I did this last night to DH. He was gone all week and I was so tired. Except no pizza. I had Doritos with melted cheddar cheese and he had a sandwich. Lol

It actually is different from giving a bath. The vet talked a bit about how outside with the rain you can have a bit of acid rain or lawn chemicals. For the dogs that were in the office with me that night, they felt it was acid rain that caused the irritant.
Thant said, I had a coonhound that hated the rain. He would often try to come back inside and would try to just hold it. We had to walk him with a golf umbrella on rainy days. But he did also hate getting baths, so at least he was consistent in his dislike of the liquid version on H2O (he liked snow, but frozen, so totally different
