I have the worst heartburn today and nothing to help it. I really want some coffee but I'm scared that it's going to make it worse. So I'm sitting here, uncomfortable and uncaffeinated. Everyone better just stay away from me today.

I had trouble falling asleep and I was up early for an RE appointment. I am so tired I already want to go home and nap- it's not even 10am yet.

I couldn't sleep last night due to horrible heartburn. My dog decided to bark at her shadow at 6am so I had to run outside in my pajamas to make her shut up. I was late leaving the house and got caught by a train. I spilled my coffee. It's raining and gloomy outside. Can Monday be over?

Mondays are the worst...especially when you hate your job with a burning passion.
At least it's a short week for me and the office is kind of quiet.
It's sort of dreary outside too...

Actual conversation from Saturday night (DH's Christmas party)

Drunk girl I've met twice, we'll call her Moron: "I hear you and your H are trying to have a baby."

Snacks: "yes, we are." (insert blank stare)

Moron: "Have you tried taking folic acid?"

Snacks: "yes, I take it." (insert blank stare)

Moron: "When I was trying to get pregnant I couldn't, so I went to my doctor and he told me to take folic acid. Are you seeing a doctor?"

Snacks: "Yes, we are." (insert resting bitch face)

Moron: "What did your doctor say?"

Snacks: "Nothing, we are just going to keep trying" (Giant gulp of wine)

Moron: "You should also try to relax because that really helped when we finally got pregnant. All it takes is folic acid and relaxing!"

Snacks: (gets up and walks away)

Honestly, it was the most ridiculous conversation. Especially from someone I don't know (or like) and at a holiday party. No need for hugs, just thought I'd share for a laugh. People are such assholes.

That's so frustrating @requiressnack. At MHs Christmas party this past Saturday, of of our friends and asked me when we thought we would have kids. I was taken aback because he didn't seem the type. I told him I didn't know, sometimes it takes longer. Not what I wanted to talk about.

Put me in the camp of not liking my job currently. I'm so ready for the holidays to be over and things slow down. I slept for 10 hours and still feel exhausted.

I'm looking for a paid internship in my field for the rest of my master's program. I got an offer on Friday afternoon that expires today. At 11:00, I have a phone interview to discuss another position.

Does anyone have any experience with expiring offers? Like, are they serious? Do I really have to decide today? I'm unlikely to get a paid offer from the phone interview today -- it's just a first step. Ideally, I'd hold off on deciding until I had both offers. What am I supposed to do?

notagoddess is there any way to request more time and test the waters? Do you know how long it would take to hear about the other one? You might have a better idea after the call today with regards to timing and also if the position is definitely something you want more? Good luck!

DH and I agreed NO GIFTS this year... Well he's gone and broken the rules. He told me last night he got something and he's impatient bc it hasn't shipped yet. So here I am trying to find a last minute something that hopefully will get here this week.

Add me to the hating Monday crew. I couldn't fall asleep until 2 and then still slept like crap. I need to go grocery shopping but really don't want to go anywhere. DS is also making this terrible shrieking noise anytime he can't do or get something he wants so that is making me feel the grocery store could go horribly wrong ...

requiressnacks I think I would've immediately just walked away once she started talking. Big ups to you for putting up with her. This is the exact reason I don't even talk about TTC with my 2 best friends. I get the 'relax' comment everytime.

notagoddess I have no experience with expiring offers, but I'd give them a call and request an extension. Worst case, they say no to the ext. Good luck on the phone interview!!

I hate when MH does that, which is pretty much every anniversary. He always agree with me on "no gifts", just a nice dinner and he pretty much always get something anyway. My go-to now is to buy a gift card to the salon where I get my hair done and if he gets me something, I give him the gc so he can get a massage and if he doesn't I keep the gc and use it next time I get my hair done.

I hope I do have a better idea after the phone interview! I will ask whether a stipend is available. If not, that will make the decision easier, since I have a paid offer on the table. 

I am not a fan of high pressure hiring tactics! It seems really out of place for an internship at a university.

I made a batch of "Crockpot Christmas Crack" (like chocolate peanut clusters) and brought in half of it to work this morning. I just went to get one and they're gone already! I work with vultures!
