DH and I flew to CT Monday night to spend a week out here with the ILs before Christmas. Tues morning I got in the shower around 10:15 and started experiencing sharp pains in my left side that kept bringing me to my knees. I realized the shower wouldn't be happening, hopped out, and immediately fell to my knees from pain and started dry heaving. It was all downhill from there. Ended up having to call an ambulance because I couldn't move without screaming out in pain, rushed to the ER where around 2pm the morphine finally kicked in, and doctors poked and prodded me trying to determine what was wrong.
I had mentioned in a past post that my doctor had found an 8cm cyst and told me to watch out for excruciating pain because it could mean my ovary had twisted due to the cyst. I was rushed into emergency surgery where they placed a spinal block and kept me awake as that was determined to be safest for baby, and they cut me open to get the cyst. Sure enough, my ovary had been twisted around twice, we caught it in just enough time to save it from needing to be removed. The best part was that the cyst was a dermoid (not sure on spelling) cyst, which is known for having hair, teeth, and other body tissue in it. Bob the cyst had three huge molars and long blond hair, and everyone in the OR was very excited about it. We even got pictures of it from the doctor because it was so ridiculous.
Anyways, I spent two nights in the hospital recovering and am now back at the ILs recuperating. Getting up and sitting down is a bitch, but as long as baby is okay that's all that matters. And baby is doing great, we got to hear the heartbeat for the first time this morning
Sorry for the long post, but the whole story was so ridiculous I thought I would share with you all! Obviously not the way we saw ourselves spending the first few days of our vacation, and I'm hoping I'm recovered enough to hop on the flight back to OR on Tues. Well that's my insane story, hope all is well with the rest of you!
