STM+: Are you going to use an infant seat again?

So I'm debating on whether to use an infant carseat again this time.

DD1 is in a MySize70 FF, so she could stay in that or go into a 5pt Combo Seat

DD2 is also in a MySize70 RFing, she will stay in this.

I have an infant carrier from both girls but it will be close to expiration and it is a rear adjust on the harness which can be a huge PITA. So I can use that or I could just go ahead and buy DD1 a combo seat and put the baby in the MySize70 RFing.

I hardly ever took out the infant seat either time because it hurts my back so I usually just babywear but I'm wondering if any STM or TTM+ have any thoughts with having more kids and not using an infant seat?

I thought about not using an infant seat, but if this LO is a light sleeper like my son was, it isn't worth the temper tantrums and freak outs getting them in and out of the car. I'm just going to reuse DS's bucket seat.

I am using an infant seat. DS didn't like to be worn until he had head control, and I'm worried about a repeat of that.

DS will outgrow RF in his Radian about the time this baby should outgrow the infant seat, then we'll play musical chairs and get DS a new FF seat.

If I was having a singleton, I wouldn't have gotten an infant seat. I could have managed without but with twins I pictured trying to go in places and decide on wearing one/carrying one/one at a time/etc and decided I liked my chances having something with handles much better at least until I adjust to having my hands so full.

I'm using an infant seat. I think it's just so much easier to carry the sleeping baby in the carrier than try and wake her up to wear her. I'll probably keep her in it until she's too heavy to carry easily, then I'll move her into the convertible seat.

We are using the infant seat. We carried our son around a lot in ours though. He was a winter baby and it was nice being able to get him strapped in in the house. I know the seasons are different this go around but I figure I will appreciate strapping her in, in the house so I can get them both in the car quickly. We also used it as a napping spot when we visited family who didn't have a safe place for him to rest. By the time she is ready for a convertible seat my son should be ready for a new seat so I imagine we will just transfer her over to his current seat.

I registered for both, I will probably keep the infant seat in my car and the convertible in DH car. Just like Starbuck128, I probably won't use the carrier until he has head control as well.

Oh HELL YES! I love everything about the infant car seat. I love being able to move baby around when he/she falls asleep in there. I love the snap n go for running errands/preschool drop off & pick up. I love being able to buckle baby in inside the house then just pop the seat in the base. I actually just checked ours last night and it doesn't expire until Dec 2016 so we are good. But had it expired sooner and wasn't useable for this baby, we would have been buying a new one for sure. Both my kids stayed in it until about 12-13 months.

I haven't completely decided yet, but am leaning towards using one again. DD was small enough to use hers until a few months before her second birthday, so I feel like I got my money's worth out of it. Also, I feel that it will be easier when I have to take both of them somewhere to have DS in his seat already so I know he is secure while I'm getting DD in the car, then I can just lock him into the base and go. They're also a blessing when baby falls asleep in the car and you don't want to wake them right away when you get to where you're going.

DS NEVER slept in the infant carrier and HATED riding in it when it was attached to the stroller. Still, we would have probably used it again if it wasn't expired. But, it is and I don't see myself buying a new one, because I had a terrible experience with my first one. We'll probably go straight to the convertible.

Yes I will. Some days the only way DD would nap was in the car so it was nice to be able to bring her inside and not wake her. Plus we already have it so might as well

I am mostly because it's what will fit in my vehicle for now, and I have very small babies, so a lot of convertible options aren't appropriate for my newbs.

I had this exact post on TB. We decided on the infant seat. We just do way too much with the other 2 kids to make carrying/wearing for everything convenient. Quick grocery trips, race track, dinners at restaurants, none seemed practical without the infant seat till atleast 6mos. of age.

We will be but only because the one we've has since DS was born doesn't expire until next year. We'll use it for the first 7-8 months then buy a new convertible. If we didn't already have this one, I'd go straight to the convertible.

Definitely. I'm not a fan of waking sleeping infants to run in places. If you didn't really use yours with your older girls though, I could see why you'd want to skip it.

We'll use DS' infant seat again, but it is still well within the expiration period and we'd have to buy something else to put the LO in otherwise. I did like avoiding having to wake DS when we were out and about, although I guess if we had a different experience this time I could see why the infant seat is a bit of a hassle.

if this was me then I would totally go for it again. But I've never had a snap and go and my kids are usually in a convertible by 6ish months anyway, so I feel like it would be a waste unless I got the comfy carry which is $50 , that might be worth it, I'm just having a hard time spending 150 on a new seat with such a short life span for  us right now. 

It seems like I'm in the minority so I guess I'll be rethinking the infant seat

no worries, I'll take all opinions. I was just looking to see if anyone with more than 2 had any specific thoughts having gone through it (since I haven't yet!

CTri17 I think it's totally a person-to-person preference (does that even make sense?). I know people who never used a snap n go and felt like an infant seat was not necessary since you can buy a carseat that goes from 5lbs-infinity.

totally true, I guess it is like anything else baby related, lots of different thoughts.

If I knew for sure we were having a 4th, I'd most likely get one.

I'm definitely using an infant seat. My first one expired so we bought a new one. I just can't see myself having to move baby in and out of the car without the seat. It just makes life so much easier.

I'm using mine again. My daughter had reflux and slept so much better in her car seat than anywhere. I'm to scared that will be the case again or I definitely wouldn't use it because it's so heavy.

Yes, but only because we have DD's and it's not expired. If I were having to buy a new seat right away, I would probably just go straight to a convertible.

But, I have a friend, who has three kids - she skipped the bucket and went straight for a Marathon for her newb. Her boys HATED the bucket and they moved them to Marathons at 6 months anyway.

She will never buy a bucket again - she either wore the baby, or just strapped her in the stroller laying down, when they went out. But, she also didn't go out much with the kids by herself...so... that may play a part in that as well.

We have three vehicles...so it saves us a ton of money and time when you think about switching seats all the time. Strapping him in inside is a requirement in Wisconsin, IMO. I seriously can't imagine having a baby without one. I can't think of a mom who doesn't use one around here.

I will be using an infant seat for the first 4-6months, then switching to a RF something. At that point they're too heavy to lug around and if DD2 is like DD1, she'll hate it by then anyway.

Our neighbor has a DD a week younger than mine and she is still in an infant seat. Its crazy to see them lugging her in and out of the car in it. They got one with a 35lb weight limit? I didn't even know that was an option.

Haha well Im in az so not bitter cold and we only have 1 vehicle that the kids ride in be because dh has a super small pickup truck,but I know I am in the minority for even considering
