A coworker brought to my attention today that maternity underwear exist and I will need them. STM+ moms - for reals? I was hoping to just buy normal XL underwear or something. Please advise lol
I wore my normal underwear the whole pregnancy, but TBH by the time I was 37 weeks they felt too small and were up my butt all the time. But at that point I didn't care. If it happens again I might buy some cheap ones in a size bigger.
I wore my normal underwear with both pregnancies. Some of them did get stretched out though and didn't fit after with my first because my butt got so big.
As far as gear goes the main thing I loved having was my ergo carrier. There's really not much that I couldn't live without. I do think you need at least one portable item to move around the house to get stuff done (showering!) like either a swing, bouncy seat, rock n play. I also liked having a changing table to have everything organized but I also have cloth diapered so that had a lot to do with it.
I also love having a crib. In the beginning we take the side rail off the crib and push it up next to the bed so this way baby gets used to sleeping in the crib right away and is also right in arms reach. Obviously you can do without a crib but I really liked this set up.
Honestly it's all about preference. One thing I didn't like that others really did was the boppy. I preferred pillows when nursing.

I got maternity undies last pregnancy in mid second trimester. My regular pairs were just too tight around the top and weren't comfortable. I loved the maternity versions. They had a lot of give and didn't get too tight. They're not expensive. I say try a pair and see what you think!
Pregnancy is different for everyone. Do what works for you!
allison7 , Did you have any issues with the motor or anything on the Mamaroo? I seem to be seeing a lot of mixed reviews on it. We had the Fisher Price Snuggabunny swing, and we loved it. After she was done, there was no room to store it, so I let it go through three family member's babies...and it finally died. Even though we are in a bigger house now, part of me would like to get something that is easier to move from floor to floor (or house to house when we are on vacation or have to send the kids to the IL's). The FP one would be a nightmare to move. I know that there are a lot smaller swings, but I am biting the bullet and going to order it from the 4Moms website (apparently if you order it directly from there, they have a better policy for fixing if there are issues). I just ordered the infant insert last week. Our Pack'n'Play also went to crap, so we are going to get the 4Moms Breeze as well. I have this weird love for fun baby gear...... lol!
Butting in! We didn't have any issues with ours at all. I packed up the Mamaroo several times for vacations, etc and it is SO EASY! Keep the box- that is what we always put it in. It also doesn't take up much space, which is part of the reason that I wanted one so badly. We don't really have the room for a whole swing. I think if you get it through BRU they are usually pretty good with things breaking, but I am not sure where ours was purchased.
I haven't read the whole thread so forgive me if this has been brought up. Does anyone have a ring sling recommendation? I didn't use one with DD1, but I think they're beautiful and I really want to try this time. I've seen the Sakura Blooms online, what else is there?

I don't have a recommendation since I'm new to baby wearing, but the multiples board suggested the Everyday Babywearing group on Facebook and there are some really experienced people there. I love lurking and seeing all the questions and responses with pics and videos. I'm learning so much from it and the tandem group.

Another vote for not needing maternity underwear. I did buy a super cheap pack of underwear to wear postpartum for the bleeding though.
Also I found no need for a maternity bathing suit (just rocked the 2-piece - only time I didn't feel like I needed to suck in my gut, yay) or workout bottoms (they fit below my belly and actually never stretched out so I still wore them when not pregnant). Actual pants that button are another story, but I found that lots of bottoms are still fine during pregnancy.

I know Maya is a very respected brand and my sister loves hers. I baby wore last time but didn't have a sling. I plan to get one this time. I have more research to do too. I'm on a local group of baby wear international and on the baby wearing swap page.
