So my dog is almost 2 and still pees in his crate while we're gone. Actually, he lifts his leg and pees outside of it. We think it's his separation anxiety (it's common in weims). We received a lot of recommendations for the thunder shirt to reduce the anxiety so in a moment of desperation we purchased one yesterday. We just got home and he not only peed, but also tore off the thunder shirt. 100% satisfaction my ass.
How big is the crate? Our friends had a boxer that would do that. My H did some research on it when we got our dog (GSP) and evidently it's not uncommon for dogs to pee/poop in their crates if it's too big. That's what our friends' boxer was doing. He had enough room to pee in one corner and lay down without laying IN it. That's the key I guess. ETA: +1 to covering the crate with something. That makes them feel more secure too. We covered ours with a navy blue sheet.

His head almost hits the top when he stands up so I don't want to go any smaller. Our female learned really quick that she would have to sit in it and stopped. Our male just pees in the floor next to the crate.

This is exactly what happened with our Boxer as well. It seemed to really help when we moved him to a smaller crate. He's fine now and can be in the house for most of the day without leaving a mess, but it took over a year for us to get to that point.

Our dog sleeps in his crate at night in our room, he has a blanket on the bottom and then we give him a treat and cover him up with another blanket. He goes right to sleep and no issues. Last night I left the room and he had no idea.
Hi friends! I know this conversation is basically over but I'll just say that I have the FitBit One and I like it a lot. It's small, I like that it doesn't go on my wrist, and I like that it shows the step count right on it. My only complaint with it is that I wore it so often that the clip broke. When it did, I complained to FitBit and they sent me a new clip, but about 5-6 months later that one broke too. So now I just put it in my pocket since I wear pants with pockets 95% of the time.
Also, I joined the FitBit group! My step count was low this month because I had nothing to do at work in the lab, and I haven't even worn it for the past week or so. But it's on next month!
I'm ready to go home. My boss is working from home and my coworker left early. But now the HR director's office is across the hall and she's in there so I feel some guilt. 30 min early isn't too bad, right?

I left an hour early yesterday and today...and might go for two hours early tomorrow! I felt a second of guilt when the office manager held the door for me as I bolted...but it quickly dissipated.

Go for it! I left an hour early on my last 2 days of work last week. 30 minutes isn't too bad.
He pulls everything into his crate so he would just pull a tarp or sheet in. We have a crate like this:
Maybe something like this would be better?
I think the latter would at least help keep the pee in the kennel. Which should help him figure out that peeing in the kennel isn't going to do anything but make him sit in the pee.

kayladawn91 sorry about the pup! I have successfully crate trained four dogs...and then there was one who just. Would. Not. Be. Trained. Luckily he turned out to be fine on his own in the house, but it was exasperating! I think mixing things up and trying a different crate and/or location in the house might help. Also, have you tried the calming scent things? You plug them in I think and they're supposed to help with anxiety. I have a friend who swears by them...I used the with my guy when I let him out in the house at first, but not sure if he was just good that way or if they helped. Good luck!

I just mentioned the plug-ins to MH today. We used them when our female was a pup, but it may be time to try with this guy.
I've only seen the movies once through so we've been watching them all week. Episodes 1 & 2 Saturday, 3 Sunday, 4 last night, and just settled in to watch 5. We'll watch 6 tomorrow and then we shall be going to a 10pm showing of 7 on New Year's Eve!

I've only seen them once through as well so we just started a marathon today. We're only on Episode 1 right now. We're hoping to go see the new one on New Year's Eve or New Year's Day!
Yes!!! I'm taking down all our Christmas decorations and silently weeping as we go back to our boring normal decorations. I have a feeling I'm going to open a bottle of wine and start online shopping to redecorating our house
Our decorations will be staying up for a little while longer. I got a really cute fox yesterday and put him up with our outside lights. #dontcarethatchristmasisover

MH made it home in time to finish 4 with me. We're taking a break to make some dinner, then we may try to watch 5 tonight. I'm not sure if I can take anymore though. I really don't get all the hoopla- the movies are boring as hell to me.

I usually leave our decorations up for as long as possible! At least until New Year's Day or sometimes later.... I love our decorations and don't want the Christmas season to end!

I fell asleep at the end of 4 last night. Oops.
I almost did. I kept asking DH how much longer.
Oh, and we opted to wait on Episode 5. Instead we're watching Supernatural. 3 more episodes and we are entirely caught up!
