Thank you all so much for the kind words, and for sharing your stories. I'm so sad that so many of us have experienced this but I appreciate you sharing. I really love you guys.
I had a CP last cycle (1st round clomid, something like 48th cycle TTC - I've stopped counting). I'm seeing an RE so naturally I had a beta scheduled for 14DPO assuming I was not bleeding (which I wasnt obviously). I did not need any repeat betas, and began my next medicated cycle without missing a beat.
I had several positive tests at 10-13 DPO including a digital (first one negative, next one positive), but felt something was off. On the night of 13 DPO I began to lose bloating and sore breasts and by the next morning (day of beta) I knew it was happening. I went in for the blood work and got the call that afternoon at work. Even though I knew it was coming, that did not prepare me any for having to hear it at work over the phone.
I was a wreck that first day, I know it was very early but it was real and it was the closest I've come in 4 years and I watched it begin and end so fast like it never happened. Day by day I felt better and the day I began my period (18DPO) it was surprisingly cleansing for me.
Keep smiling and keep at it, but take all the time you need.
After a positive on 10 DPO, and many strong positives (on digitals, FRERs, etc.) throughout the past week, my tests suddenly got lighter yesterday morning. (17 DPO) By last night the line was gone and digitals read negative, and this morning I started bleeding. Boo. So, I'm back with GKU. A few questions....
1. If you have had a CP, did your doctor want to see you? Is any blood work needed or since I started bleeding will they find it unnecessary? I will call my doctor tomorrow, I was just curious what other people's experience with this was.
2. If anyone feels like sharing their CP experience, I would be interested in hearing it. I was really sad yesterday and looking for stories but didn't find much.
Thanks, everyone. Love you all, I was just hoping to not be back here so soon.
My situation might be slightly different because I'm under the care of an RE (I don't think you are, right?) My BFP was late and then my betas were never high and already dropping by my second. I started bleeding at exactly 6 weeks and my doctor classified it as a chemical pregnancy.
I had a series of betas done because they wanted to track it down to zero and then I had to wait 30 days before trying again (I don't cycle on my own so the "one cycle" didn't really work for me). I had no other exams or appointments other than the blood draws.
**description of loss below**
My loss experience wasn't too bad physically. The day I found out about the falling betas was the worst.day.ever and I was a crying sobbing emotional mess. The next day I was almost normal and then the third day I was a little emotional again and that afternoon I started bleeding.
The first day of bleeding was light, then that night I started cramping and no pain meds would help. The next morning the bleeding picked up along with very small clots. The cramping started again and were bad enough I would gasp. Hindsight tells me they may have been contractions because they did come in waves and felt like someone was kicking me in the cervix. Later that day I passed a few larger clots and got almost instant relief from the cramping. The bleeding gradually slowed and I think from start to finish I had bleeding/spotting for about 7 days.
Outside of the obvious emotional impact, the worst thing for me was having to use pads. I just felt so gross the whole time and I was really tempted to use tampons towards the end but was able to hold out.
K, I'm back. 1. My doctor had me come in immediately for bloodwork. After my first labs, we tracked hcg to zero just to be sure. It ended up being like a very awful super heavy/clotty period for me. OB had me take ibuprofen for cramping pain. Took me about 2 weeks for levels to reach 0. OB cleared us to try again immediately. I O'd just a bit earlier than usually the next cycle.
2. My LP is usually 11 days. Bfn on 10dpo. On 12 dpo I had a bit of spotting and fully expected AF to start. 13dpo I had a wave of nausea that prompted me to retest and got an obvious dark positive on a wondfo and confirmed with digital. 14dpo the test looked the same, but my temp wasn't as high as I would have expected it to be. 15 and 16 dpo my tests got a bit lighter and temps stayed around the same range. At this time I had a gut feeling that it might not stick. I wasn't experiencing any nausea anymore. 17dpo my temp was obviously tending down and my test was barely positive. Started bleeding that day.
Feel free to PM me if you have other questions or just want to talk. Again, many hugs for you. I'm so sorry you have to go through this. Life isn't fair.
Hugs, Pinkcat. Mine was classified as chemical until they determined it was ectopic. I'd mention it to your healthcare team and ask if they want to track betas to negative, but if you're already bleeding, they'll probably opt out.
