Although, to be fair, I called that commercial as "I can't grow up because my parents didn't vaccinate me and I died of the measles."
I haven't read any further down yet to see if this was addressed or discussed, but this commercial really pissed me off. Like, really REALLY pissed me off.
I'm sorry - but no insurance company is going to prevent my kid from dying in an accident. F*ck you, Nationwide for implying that. And f*ck you for making all the parents out there who may have suffered that tragedy watch your commercial.

thelorax Nationwide's website only has the Mindy Kaling ad. They have info on the make safe happen campaign, but there's no commercial that I could find.

I wonder if they pulled it? I saw mention of it in an article, but had NO desire to go find it.

I really hated the Nationwide ad, as I've already said. However, I think it raised some important points that I wish had been raised in a less gruesome way. For example, none of the other (childless) people at our party knew that a television could be tipped forward.

The thing is, if you look at Nationwide's Make Safe Happen campaign ad (over 2 minutes), it was great. Not shocking, but just explaining what their plan is. They even say that they can't prevent the accidents, and their point is to help educate people on how to make things safer for their kids.
Oh, I totally agree. I'm sure they thought that this ad would be more attention getting and be talked about, but...sheesh. I checked on LO, like, six times before going to sleep last night.
