We had a fun and eventful day yesterday. We went to brunch, then the park for 2 hours, then to my parent's house, then back home. I then watched my niece and nephew for a few hours yesterday evening/night while my sister brought their dog to the emergency vet (the dog is fine now).
So between a packed day of playing, no nap, and going to bed at 9:30, I had a tired and cranky toddler this morning. Luckily, DS took a several hour long miracle nap this morning already!!

I went through and finally cleaned out the closet and sorted DD's old clothes to put them away. I hope we get to use them again. Either for this baby or another little girl in the future. I also realozed I lent all her nb-3mo clothes to friends. Hopefully I get some back

Had so much fun at the wedding last night! Seriously the most fun I have had since my own wedding! Thank you all for the maternity nylons suggestion! They held up and I was very comfortable!!! So tired today, but it's my DD birthday so I think we will make a cake together from scratch once we get home from DS hockey lessons!
Hilarious and sweet moment from a little while ago - I had a blanket covering up past my belly and DS walked over to me, rubbed my boob, and very sweetly said "hi baby!" I just about died and moved the blanket so he could see my belly so then he rubbed my belly and gave it a kiss which was adorable. But I'm still laughing about the random boob grab.
I've had donuts the last two mornings. So delicious. We got donuts as a family yesterday then I went through Starbucks this morning, got coffee and a lemon loaf, THEN realized there were donuts when I got to church. Yum. My son is also obsessed with donuts (what kid isn't?)...I think we're going to do a breakfast and jammie themed birthday party for him and have a donut tower as his cake!
Is anyone else watching Making a Murderer? My DH and I are on episode 5 and are obsessed....can't wait for DS to go down so we can watch another episode!
soultrane, That is so funny, my DS does that too! I can't ask where the baby is in front of people because he will grab my boob and say, "BABY SITTER (sister)!" no matter how many times I correct him. They are growing at almost the same rate as my belly, that's for sure!
txmommy14, sounds like a cute idea for a party! My SIL did a breakfast themed pajama party for my niece a few years ago and it was adorable and so comfy!
txmommy14, I binge watched Making of a Murderer a couple of weekends ago. I think we managed to get in all of the episodes in between DS being at preschool, naps and bedtime Fri-Mon. Couldn't stop watching.
DS woke up at 5 this morning, he fell back asleep until 7 but of course I did not. Probably going to take a nap today and I really need to exercise.
txmommy14, we binge-watched it a couple weekends ago and watched all 10 episodes in 2 days. #notashamed It was pure craziness and I still can't decide how I feel about his guilt vs innocence.
I binged Making a Murderer as well... Not sure how I feel about guilt vs innocence, but I do think there was something squirrelly going on. Plus, the prosecutor creeped me out. I've also listen to Serial and Undisclosed which also seem to point out flaws in the judicial system... At least in those cases.
Does anyone know if shingles can be contagious? I had chicken pox as a kid, which I believe means I can develop shingles on my own, but I can't "catch" them or chicken pox from someone else. My grandmother has shingles and I was going to bring over some food and keep her company if she felt up to it. But she won't let me come to the house so I won't get sick. Her doctor told her to avoid me "just in case" and I'll stay away if need be, but everything I'm reading seems to say there is no danger as long as I've had chicken pox already.
I don't know if it's contagious or not, but I'm sorry that you're grandmother is dealing with it vivela. I've heard that having shingles is absolutely miserable so I hope she feels better soon!
txmommy14, you inspired me to start looking at ideas for G's birthday party this year. I had already started thinking about it but fell into a google rabbit hole this afternoon and I'm getting really excited about it even though it isn't until June. His birthday is a week after my due date though so I figure I should plan ahead this year!

I've heard that too She says it is a very mild case, but that would be 100% typical of a woman whose first instinct when she is sick is to lie about it. She does go to doctors and get treated and everything, she just doesn't want the family to know. She is pathologically self-sufficient at the age of 89. I understand because I'm very uncomfortable telling my family about my health, but I'm also about 60 years younger than she is. I only found out about the shingles because she told my younger sister, who doesn't live near by, and asked her to keep it a secret.
vivela I don't think shingles is contagious to people who are already immunized from chicken pox (either naturally or via vaccine). Someone else on our BMB was just saying their H has shingles but I can't remember who it was. Perhaps that person knows better. I think you're fine if you already had chicken pox. It's the people who haven't had chicken pox, or didn't get the vaccine that shouldn't be around those experiencing a shingles outbreak.
I've sold all the stuff in our guest room, plus tons of decor crap in our closets we never ever want to use again and I've made $910 in the last 8 days. I'm giddy to clear our alllllll the clutter and make some money doing it!

idk either but I had a coworker in her 40s get it and it was awful. HOpefully she recovers soon!!!

I think it was titania (if not, excuse the random tag!)

They are contagious, but in general only before the rash appears. If your grandmother has the shingles rash, you are pretty much clear. I'm sorry she's dealing with them.

vivela shingles is only contagious if you're not immune. The vast, vast majority of people who've had a case of chicken pox will be immune, but a small portion aren't. I've actually often wondered why a blood test to make sure you're immune isn't part of routine pre-natal labs (like they do with rubella) because the virus can be very dangerous to both you and baby if infected while pregnant. That being said, the chances are very good that you're immune and it won't be a problem. Also, shingles is much less contagious than chicken pox. You can limit your risk further by lots of hand washing and don't touch the rash - it's the blisters that contain the active virus that's spread.

vivela I actually had shingles early on in this pregnancy and have no clue where I got it from. It can't be found in my medical records if I ever had chicken pox or not as a child (because then you went to chicken pox parties and both my siblings had them bad). I was treated with antivirals and watched until it cleared up but thankfully it was a mild case and I caught it super early.

ha it was me! vivela MH has shingles now and my OB said that since I had chickenpox I would be fine. He said as long as I'm not touching open wounds (which would be gross anyway) I won't catch it. MH has had it for a week now and I have no symptoms. I'm so sorry your grandma has it! It is so painful. MH has been pretty miserable.

We're doing all the same stuff now! I LOVE that shade of pink-beautiful!!!
Thanks for the responses ladies! Sounds like her doctor's advice was technically reasonable, if overly cautious. She's really stressed about me possibly getting it, so I'm going to let her have her way for now since one of my other relatives has moved in for the week to help out. She's also talking about skipping a family party next week because I'll be there, which I hope I can talk her out of (assuming she isn't in too much pain, in which case she should do exactly what she feels up to). titania, I'm sorry about your H, I hope he feels better soon! I remember when my dad got it and he was really miserable as well. lakecountrygal, Glad to hear it wasn't a serious case. Pregnancy is uncomfortable and stressful enough as it is. I remember getting Chicken Pox because my sister came home with it, and my Mom had us drinking out of her cups and hanging out with her constantly until it went through all three of us.

Thanks! It's Benjamin Moore "wild aster". DH doesn't love it, but it's my last chance to decorate a girls room... So he told me to go for it! I love how soft and feminine it will be!
