Oh I've been like this my entire life. H has probably seen me in real clothes like 30 days out of 5 years (weekends and vacations). I would never sit on the couch in jeans or work pants lol
Same.
Me too. I change and wash my makeup off the second I get home from work. DH only sees me dressed up if we're going out.
No, sorry, my apologies. My kids didn't outgrow the seats in terms of weight, it was length. DH is quite tall so our babies are as well. They were 28" at 6 months, not 28 lbs. I don't think DS1 broke 30 lbs until he was 2 lol
I read that and thought whoa!! Those are big babies lol!
I had the same thought My 2.5 year old is 30 lbs now.
This probably does not need to be said here, but I see it every time I am at a store: Infant seats are not intended to sit in the child seat of a shopping cart. It can easily tip over and harm the baby. You'll have to put the car seat in the main basket, or a stroller, or babywear. /rant
YES I've seen so many surveillance videos of them falling!

Ha! I'm a FTM, and was a little freaked out by an almost 30-lb six month old!

dc2london, I see that all the time too. I always want to say something but never do because I don't want to be that mom giving out unsolicited advice. If it was a friend, I'd certainly say something.

I was at the grocery store around thanksgiving and a couple had their car seat in the child seat. The mom went to wave at someone she knew and bumped the seat causing it to flip over. Everyone around her stopped and gasped. Luckily, her husband came walking up with the baby in her arms. She barely bumped that thing and it want flying. It was terrifying.
Thanks so much for the info dc2london , ameliabird , kokopelli , gratefulgirl , I didn't realize there was a different convertible seat, I just always assumed the one they come home in the hospital is the one that eventually faces forward in a year or 2. But it makes sense that it would be far too small at that point! Then I got confused because I looked at the Graco 4ever one and it said it was not a baby carrier, and does not come off the base/stay in the car. So that threw me off because I expected "forever" to mean from the day they're born. But I guess it's more "forever" from when they outgrow their infant carrier/bucket seat.
Thanks again! I've heard great things about Buy Buy Baby, the closest one is an hour and a half away but I think I'll go there anyways since I'm not a real fan of Target/ BR-Us customer service and registries (they are constantly in store items only, and then never stocked at my stores impossible to actually get what people register for).
spicysalmonroll, Our girl hate hate hated the bucket. We switched her to a convertible Britax Advocate when she was almost 10 months, which she's been in since.
As for strollers, we got the Bob Motion stroller and Britax B-Safe seat stroller combo from REI when they did a deal where you got the car seat free when you bought the stroller. No complaints about either one. We ended up also getting an Uppababy G-luxe umbrella stroller when she was about 13 months old. We are very happy with all of these choices.
There are definitely less expensive options in all the categories, but we always hoped that we'd be using things for more than one kid, so durability and functionality were big factors for us.
It's definitely worth making a trip to BBB. They have SO much in stock and the ones near us accept Bed Bath and Beyond coupons as well as Buy Buy Baby, and BRU coupons. I hoard the coupons just for trips there

I put DD's car seat in the basket but it wasn't big enough to sit on the bottom so it kinda hung towards the bottom. I was nervous but at least it wasn't sitting up top. Well some how it got bumped and the whole car seat flipped upside down in the basket and I quickly flipped it back up. DD went on a little roller coaster. Scared me so bad!

Yessssss. Every time see this, I press my lips together and want to scream. But ya, unsolicited advice. People don't like it.

I think I'll use my carrier this go around. Our cart is already at max capacity most of the time.

I can't believe you are all thinking about strollers and carseats already. I pretty much figure in first tri I'll just think about what I'm going to eat next, and I can worry about baby stuff second tri.

We have never purchased anything until the beginning of 3rd tri. Stick with the food.
I fully support not buying anything till 3rd tri. We bought everything 5 days before our 1st was born. Thank goodness we got the crib from floor display otherwise it was 10 weeks to order one!

Just got back from my appointment! My OB is funny, he is a little bummed out since the clinic recently incorporated several midwives into the practice and now they have most of the OB patients. He asked if I wanted to stick with him or see a midwife or how did I want to do things. He sounded so wistful so I said if he wanted to stake a claim on an OB patient, then I would be that patient, hehe. He delivered DD and is her pedi so we get along fine, and really, it all works for me! So I will be sticking with him.
It was a really simple appointment, just a quick vitals check and asking how symptoms were, asked a few questions about my last pregnancy... and then ultrasound!
The little squish is measuring slightly ahead based on LMP but he said he wasn't going to change my EDD over it. That works for me, gives the little one more time to cook before any interventions. HB was 178. My SO was there and when it popped up, he just said WOW! It was pretty adorable. I grinned like a dork, but that is such a fantastic thing, hearing the heartbeat for the first time.
So yeah, all's well over here. And I got payback for exclaiming to my doc about not feeling sick at all since I started taking b6/unisom. After wrestling DD in my front door, I started getting super queasy. Gross! So now I am laying down and wondering if naptime can be early today.... lol

This would give me so much anxiety!
Me too! Not saying I'm going to run out and buy everything tomorrow, but it's fun to look and get ideas early on. Just like thinking about names.

I'm a serial planner. I already have a convertible car seat (skipping the bucket), 3 wraps/carriers, and minicrib on a private registry. I started researching before the IUI lol. I also have my eye on a cloth diaper bundle. At this point, the only reason I haven't purchased a few thongs is because I genuinely don't want more stuff to pack and move.
Tip: don't buy a car seat any earlier than you have to. The longer it sits around your house, the shorter time you get to actually use it before it expires. That goes for buying ahead to the next stage of seat because of a good sale, too.
Well the appointment went well - they couldn't find a heartbeat with the doppler so I requested an ultrasound. Baby's heartbeat was 173. Now just to find out what this neck issue is...

@suesposa, Love that you already picked stuff out! Friends have already offered me crib, bassinet, pack n play, clothes. We are using existing dresser as changing table. So I'm excited to pick out the few other items myself lol
+1 for being a serial planner. My cousin has been giving me stuff to hoard since we started TTC in May. So far we have a swing, infant carrier and 2 bases and matching stroller, bouncy chair and a big tub of 0-6 mtn baby clothes. Basically we need a crib and some cloth diapers and this kid is all set. I figure if someone is kind enough to offer a shower we'll register for some diapering stuff, a convertible car seat, a more lightweight stroller, and bottles/feeding/bath stuffs.
I bought the joovy sit and stand/double stroller when we decided we were going to start trying. Buttttttt I really wanted it for our Disney world trip this way B could just hop on and off between rides.
The Buy buy baby near us is so much nicer than Babies R Us. The closest one to us is about an hour away and worth the drive. They even have creepy babies you can strap into seats, strollers, and carseats.
