I use a planner for work stuff like meetings, changes to my schedule, PD days, early releases, etc. . I use a google calendar for appointments outside of work. My admins are also big on google calendar so they send meeting requests through Google calendar but I also rewrite them in my planner because that's what I look at the most.

If someone could develop a paper planner that somehow could link up online that would be the best. I prefer paper planners, but I have to have everything in my phone to share with my husband because he forgets everything.
Google calendar does have stickers though. Virtual ones.

These two planners shots are giving me straight up anxiety. Too much writing. Too many things. Ohymgod.
Unfortunately that's what happens when you're working two jobs with unpredictable schedules. Need it in one space to make sure I'm getting paid correctly.
Eta I can't remember anything. If I could keep shit straight I wouldn't use it but I can't unfortunately.
I have a Filofax (which I use to decorate) and create 365 happy planner (got at Michael's for $7.99) I need it to mark when DH is at work, when he's home, I'm in charge of making both of our appointments bc he can't make them while at work. Skye is still a puppy and has appointments every other week, not including the other two's appts. Skye is in puppy class, Tanner does agility, I also use it to journal...

I use a planner at work and I love it. I am excited for my EC planner at home...if it ever fucking gets here. $70 later and I'm pissed I won't even get to use it for January because they are so backed up.
I am a very organized person and can do it all in my head but I find it less stressful to have it out of my head.

I can't wait for my Plum Paper planner! I do a lot on my phone but if I write things down, I remember them. It will also help me track my billing for work. H and I had a shared calendar on our phones and that used to be helpful...but then he stopped checking it and kept just asking me what we are doing all the time..so I might as well just keep track myself. I'm not organized though, so we'll see...and mine will only be a little pretty not like some I see. I can't do all that!

*I currently have a wall calendar hanging by the dining room table where I put all appointments, etc. *I have a composition book where I hand write the bills and keep track of them. I start a new page for each month. I highlight as the payments come out from my account and put a check mark by them. *My to-do lists, when I make them, are in a thread on the SAHP board. Or if I feel like it on the white board. *I use an app to make my grocery list: Grocery IQ *I have a separate white board calendar where I meal plan. The meals I cook most often are on magnets and I just hang them on the bottom if they are a meal I bought stuff for. When they are not being used they hang on the side of the fridge.
I like my planner because I put all of these things in one place. And I don't really like using my phone because I prefer to write things (helps me remember better). Also stickers and washi tape lol.

mustloveerica After thinking about it I really like the idea of hanging the calendar on the fridge. I feel like that is a spot where I'll see it all the time and maybe H too. I'm going to hang the pages inside page protectors and take them out as I need to add notes. Do you use a Calendar that fits on one page or a bigger one that is across 2 pages (for the month)?

I had no idea until reading the threads on here and 3T that paper planners were so popular! If I got one I would lose it within a week. I need something electronic that syncs across all my devices and to the cloud so there are many, many copies that can't get lost
penguin129, I am really into this book on Japanese art of decluttering and I forget the exact term she uses but she talks about "word noise" in your house. Like for example leaving the sticker that came on the garbage can. It's not as peaceful visually as just having blank surfaces.
I am also obsessed with Marie Kondo. Her book is like porn for my minimalist brain. I can't wait to read her book that just came out!
And now I've spent way too much time on the Plum Paper website. I used planners like whoa in school, and even during undergrad. Got away from it during medical school. But now I'm think a custom one would be great for residency and adulting.
Yep, totally getting one. Can't decide if I want to wait until the next academic year or get one now.

Me too!! All of my dresser drawers are organized standing up and it's seriously the best thing in life. I can easily see the options, the exact one I'm looking for, ditch the ones I can now see don't get worn, it's amazing. Also no more clothes in the guest closet or under bed bins so I know when I look at my drawer that's my only options. I purged about 50% of my clothes when I bought the book and now I see that I can easily do even more!
I had a huge box of high school crap- photos, yearbooks, cards, happy meal toys that were inside jokes, etc. When I tossed the whole thing all I could ask myself is "why the hell have I moved this around the country for 10 years?!"
Jumping in here- I have a paper planner for work but I follow the Simplified Planner on IG and really want to take the jump to buy one - they are so pretty.
What happens if there is a power outage? Google won't be able to help there. Bet none of you have thought about that.
I should add that I LOVE paper planners, but I always leave them at home when I am at work, or at work when I am at home so they end up being a nuisance!

I'm of the belief of to each their own. I tried just using Google. Loved that DH and I could have a combined calendar. But he didn't update his stuff regularly for when I needed to make appointments for him. There is something in writing it down that helps me remember. Also when we were talking to in-laws and I did buy them cards for their birthdays, DH didn't set his family's stuff to remind me a week early to buy their card. I know that's an easy fix but between that and his lack of updating his stuff up for me, it's easier to see it on the house calendar!
