I recently cut off our cable (DirecTV)....but now how do I watch regular local channels?
Also, is there a way for me to watch my guilty pleasures....Mainly the Kardashians, real housewives...
Get a digital antenna to watch local channels. To watch the housewives, I downloaded the Bravo app and AirPlay the shows I want to watch from my phone to my appletv. I don't know if E! Has an app, but I bought the kardashians subscription on iTunes and also watch it on the appletv.
Eta- the good antennas are about $70, and they are worth it! I don't know how far you live from the local towers, but try to find out and get the one that extends to your range.
THANK YOU!!
I miss my Good Morning America. I guess I should have figured this all out BEFORE I cut the cable. But really I just needed to stop the financial hemmorage that is Satelite/Cable tv....
Has everyone put their sit me up away? I tried to get Adam to have in it but he wasn't happy.
this weekend we put away the bouncy seat, the swing, the exersaucer and the RNP. He was only in the RNP because of his ear infections so once the tubes got put in last week it had to go. I found him a few times fully rolled over in it so it was well past its expiration.
I can't imagine now that they are sitting by themselves and becoming mobile that they will tolerate that kind of confinement.
We are on our 2nd ear infection, same side. How does the RnP help?? One more infection and we gets tubes as well.
Ok so I'll donate the sit me up. I still use the exercauser - I need to contain him from time to time!
I use the exersaucer all the time here.
Same here. We rotate between floor, exersaucer, high chair, and carrying her around. I would say she is usually happiest in the saucer. She can stand and see and play. The high chair just makes her mad unless food is being served.
I'm a bit late, but re: amount of solids... At N's 9 month visit, the doc said that if she will eat more solids, give her more. She said she is looking for at least 16 oz of formula at this point so as long as she is getting that, follow her lead. She was still getting close to 30 so I was happy to hear that. She said it is normal for bottle intake to decrease and that's really the goal since before we know it that solid food will be their primary source of food.
We still have the sit me up in the hallways for when I want to keep her captive while showering or something. Ditto for exersaucer and she still loves it.
I am dreading putting the sit me up away, it's how I shower in the morning! DS isn't mobile just yet.
What do people with older mobile babies do here? Do I just shut him in the bathroom with me with some toys? Am I over thinking this?
I shower at night after she has gone to bed or during one of her naps. Mobile babies are hard. She doesn't like her Exersaucer because it's much more fun to crawl around and pull up on everything but I still put her in it sometimes to contain her if I need to do something.
Yoghurt question: all the full fat, low sugar yoghurt here taste really tart, like straight sour cream and DS doesn't like them (plain or with fruit).
Has anyone tried coconut yoghurt with their LO?
Full fat plain yogurt definitely tastes tart, but regular is less tart than Greek. Which are you offering?
I've never offered the coconut though. Sounds yummy. Maybe try a mix with more puree than yogurt and slowly shift the ratio. DD hated yogurt the first few times but inhales it now.
@nevertoomanyshoes, most of the time I shower during her morning nap, but if she is awake I sometimes throw some toys in her crib and let her play in there while I jump in quick.
I don't see why it wouldn't be, just maybe that babies might not like the taste. The yogurt I get for e is thicker than greek though and we have no issues with it.
Omfg. What can I do to not get plugged ducts and milk blisters?! Anything?
DS nurses A LOT so I don't understand why I keep having issues, it's not like my boobs are full for too long. This is the third time but the last two times were in the opposite boob. I'm so fucking sick of dealing with BFing issues.
you can take soy lecithin supplements - they will help prevent blockages.

I've gotten 2 recently from accidentally stomach sleeping. Could it be something like that?

+1. I did this during my 9 week pumping stint and it helped so much.
What do you do about LO standing up in their crib? We have the crib on the lowest setting but he still grabs the bars and pulls himself up and he keeps falling and hitting his head. He has a bruise on his eye this morning that I assume is from these crib shenanigans. Do I just wait it out until he gets the hang of it?

I'm having a partial toenail removal Friday (3rd time's a charm hopefully, these procedures suck!) and will need to be on pain medication - I know from the last 2 times that ibuprofen won't cut it for the first 24-48 hours. I still have some of my pain killers from my c-section, and I was bfing then so I know those must be baby-safe, there shouldn't be any reason I couldn't use those, right? I think they might have made DD a little sleepy but hopefully it'll just be for a day, maybe 2. I do have a freezer stash but I'd like to avoid breaking into that if possible.
C has 3 teeth coming in right now and he is just miserable. I've been giving him Motrin before bed at night and Tylenol before naps. The Tylenol doesn't seem to work as well. He's sleeping fine at night but has been taking horrible naps. I hate that I've been giving him so many pain meds recently. He's not a huge fan of teething rings but he does like a few teething toysthat he has. I've given him frozen wash cloths but only for short periods of time. He also wears an amber teething necklace.
Does anyone have any other suggestions? Would you keep giving your LO pain meds all day? Should I switch to just Motrin? He is so miserable and I just want to give him as much relief as possible.
carcar510, I would stick with the motrin and try to only give it when nothing else is working.
It's tiring but when Ryan is cranky I have to CONSTANTLY be entertaining him, like a distraction almost.
Have you tried the mum mum things? Let him sit in the highchair with it and chew away? Also maybe frozen fruit in a mesh feeder? I think between the chewing and the taste of the food it's a great distraction.

I think tonight I'll try skipping the Motrin before bed and see how he does. Don't have any mesh feeders so I'll pick some up tonight at Target and try those. Distracting him with toys and holding him while he's playing does help a little. It's just so exhausting. We'll just have to keep powering through this until they pop through.
Have we talked about teeth brushing? How often and for how long am I supposed to brush her two little teeth? When do you start using kiddie toothpaste instead of water?
We just started yesterday but it's mostly for fun--DD only has two teeth. The toothbrush I got came with toothpaste and it said 3mo+ so I assumed it was fine to use now? Maybe I should go back to just water?
