This is a great game! Current kids: Jackson, Noah, Violet, Declan
Next kid (Due in June): Without DH input: Sirius James Raphaela Marguerite
With DH input: Harlan James Catriona Marguerite
It sounds like this kids will have a name composed entirely of awesome regardless!
Thanks bromios! I can't thank you and dreadpiratebuttercup enough for the amazing lists of names. I had to scrap Seraphina but DH gave a huge thumbs up to Catriona which is unusual for him so I stopped asking about other names.
No babies yet. If it were up to me: Hugo Alexander and Josephine Amelia/Beatrice Ophelia/Vera Edelweiss/Elisabeth Suzanne. I love talking names and my SO indulges me, but we're still on first names: Walt and Josephine or Vera.

DH and I are most likely done, but I have more names that I love and am sad we'll never get to use. Right now my favorites are Lyra Lucia and Hiram Owen.
We'll probably go one more round, so for a boy: Sawyer John Esox and for a girl, we aren't sure, currently liking Savanah Anabelle Maelyn or Lydia Anabelle Maelyn (I know, I know, 2 middle names, but it's a family tradition)
Currently expecting little one due in July... For a girl it will be Ruby. MN is still undecided although I'm pushing for Jane. For a boy, we haven't discussed it as fully b/c I don't want to argue with DH over "the third" unless it's necessary. It will be Robert Allen III if we stick with what we've previously discussed but I'm havign doubts and am now leaning strongly toward Samuel Robert instead.
We won't be TTC #3 til next year, but I have been planning on Kaylee Grace for a girl since we first decided to have a baby. No family history behind either of those names, I just fell in love with the name. My first 2 boys are Colton James & Carter Allan - each middle name is after my dad & my H's dad. If #3 is another boy for us, I've been thinking of sticking with the C-theme & going with Cohen (sp?) & undecided MN. We've also been thinking of Nolan.
My fav boy names have ended in -on, -en, -an. Not sure why, but that's just my taste I guess

Please google "Cohen name controversy". That is all.
I have this weird notion that I'm going to have a girl, so I've been obsessed with the name Brooklyn Kate. Brooklyn is where my dad was born and raised, and Kate is for my husband's awesome late great-aunt. I also like Zipporah, Nicola (or Nikola), and Delilah for first names and Esther for a middle name (for my late grandmother)
As far as boys go, we're not sure. I like Logan, Tobin, Axel (or Axl), and Korban for first names. Sam or Samuel for a middle name for my husband's late grandfather.

Jew here, and I couldn't agree with or second this more. Please research this.

Thank you very much for this! I had heard the name & loved it, but never moved onto really researching it yet.

Esther would make a fantastic first name, as would Axel! Brooklyn is a borough, and means "broken land". Not a name for a human.

I don't like Esther as a first name at all, so that's not happening. (It also rhymes a bit with our last name, and I don't want a Dr. Seuss-esque name for my kid!) I love my late grandma, but Esther will be a middle name for our hypothetical daughter, at best.
I'm sticking with Brooklyn because it will mean a lot to my dad. I know the meaning of the word itself, but it doesn't bother me and when most people hear the word, they don't think, "Oh, that means 'broken.'" The name Delilah means "temptress" but it's still beautiful!
ETA: Apparently the baby-name "definition" of brooklyn is "water" or "stream". And because I always heard the whole "broken land" thing myself, I actually just looked into how Brooklyn (the borough) got its name. It's from the dutch town of Breukelen and simply got anglicized into Brooklyn. And the whole "broken land" or "fractured land" translation is the most common one for breukelen but there are others thrown around. Basically it's a really old translation that isn't really regarded much anymore, or recognized by the masses.

dorkymama BTN is pretty much always correct on name meanings, unless it's user submitted. So yeah, broken land. I get that it would mean something to your dad, so least if you must use it, put it in the middle spot with a legit human name as her fn so she will be taken seriously as an adult.
Catherine Brooklyn, nn Kate would serve her well. As would Estella Brooklyn, Stella Brooklyn, or Estelle Brooklyn (other forms of Esther). Remember, you are naming a child who will one day be an adult.

It's not that bizarre of a name at all. It's not like I'd be naming my kid Pocahontas or Glitter. It's also very common within the past decade, usually somewhere in the top 50 names for girls in the US (I haven't checked in a while, so I don't know off the top of my head), so there are going to be plenty of adult women named Brooklyn 20 years from now.
