So, today has not gone my way. I'm in the hospital right now being treated for preterm labor. I was having lots of Braxton Hicks (7 in one hour) so my doc had me come into Labor and Delivery. My fetal fibrinectin (sp?) test was positive, which is an indication of preterm labor. I've been getting IV fluids and magnesium sulfate and the contractions have stopped. The doctor is going to do a cerclage in the morning, and I should be able to go home on bedrest as long as the contractions don't start back up. I feel fine and the baby has been doing great all day. She's wiggling and kicking around so much they have trouble keeping her on the monitor, but she is showing zero signs of distress. None of this had phased her at all.
Thanks for all the good thoughts and the support today when our dog died. You guys truly are the best and I feel very lucky to be a part of this community.
I'm also including a gratuitous hospital selfie, because, why not?
UPDATE!!
Just talked to my doctor and we should be heading home soon! Everything looks great. My doctor decided to hold off on the cerclage for now. I had placenta previa which has turned into a low lying placenta (which is good) but a cerclage could still be risky because my placenta is so close to my cervix. So for now I'll be monitored closely and stay in bed.
Thanks for all the good thoughts, prayers, and support. You guys are the best!
And for those who are curious about my look, my beauty secrets include not wearing makeup and dry shampoo. Oh, and surprisingly flattering hospital lighting.
