I just put her down for her nap. I put a diaper on for that - is that the norm? Diapers at nap?
But, this morning she did really well! She peed in the potty 2 (.5) times and pooped 1! She didn't make it to the potty in time once and half peed on the floor half in the potty - not to bad. TMI she even sat on the potty to fart... weirdo. I can't believe she initiated this.

I bet this afternoon will be pee everywhere lol
I would just ditch the naptime diaper and monitor fluids beforehand.
Do t be surprised if you encounter some resistance in a day or two. Just push through it.
Dd did fantastic this weekend but had two wet diapers today (she was supposed to be in pull ups not diapers, do I brought all the diapers home so there is no choice). I may give pull ups a week and of she is still having issues I will go to panties. She also got moved to the next class without her bestie, which has never happened they usually get moved together. It may have been overwhelming today and just took much. I hope it settles it. As soon add I picked her up we went to the potty and removed the diaper. She is commando at home except at night.

Wearing a diaper sometimes and being expected to pee and poop in the potty at other times can be confusing (all coming from the Oh Crap book but it totally makes sense). The book says you can call the diapers at daycare "daycare diapers" and help separate the two places in their mind as far as potty training goes. It will prolong the training process.
@babylentilbean do you wait until yD pees before you put her down for a nap? We're 30 mins past bed time waiting for a pee.
At first I would try to. I know we went down late for nap a few days and still do sometimes. If you can't get a pee I would assume they don't need to go. I just put DD down for her nap and she didn't pee first. She peed half an hour ago and emptied a very full bladder so I assumed she just didn't need to go again.
@babylentilbean after 40 mins of waiting and her showing all the signs to pee - she wouldn't pee in the potty. She'd grab her crotch and run to the potty, sit and then nothing. Then, she ran to her closet and peed there instead. So frustrating :S

She may be having trouble fully relaxing enough to actually go. Don't get discouraged. We had lots of ups and downs. I was so frustrated by week 2 bc she still hasn't had an accident free day. I just kept pushing forward and now she has been accident free for almost a week.
Today we had as many successes as accidents. I still can't believe I'm potty training right now.
Is anyone else training who still uses a crib? I'm not touching night training at this point, but if she wanted to get up to pee at nap time or something I'm wondering if I should transition her to a toddler bed.

I ended up transitioning her to a toddler bed. Her sleep was really affected when we started training though. Share started climbing out of the crib so I had no choice.
What is up with my kid, everything at once this week. I was sitting downstairs on my phone while she was 'napping'. Well she just came and jumped on me. I guess she can get out of her crib by herself and get downstairs. Yay ....

That would freak me out! Haha! You need one of those door knob things so your LO can't open the door.
I took all the diapers home so they don't have any choice but to use her pull ups. I am going to give her through next week in the new class to see if she will settle in and use the potty. If not, will go straight to panties, im sad she can't go commando at daycare, she does so much better.
@babylentilbean I definitely put the door knock thing on. I also took the baby camera from DSs room and put it in hers to watch her. Oh joy!
We had an accident free day tho! And no diapers at naptime was a good call. She's woken up dry all 3 days.
I have had days where DD will wake halfway through to use the potty. She actually has to go. I go in and let her use it and then tell her it's still naptime and to go back to bed. I keep all the lights off so she doesn't get super excited.

The joys of having to work for a living.
It will happen. It's definitely harder when you aren't the only one working with them.
Anyone potty training a boy? I told my pediatrician that I was going to start potty training and he was like 'why?'. He said to wait until he was closer to 3 so of course I am now second guessing my decision to start. We already delayed because of a trip. If I do move forward it will be this Sunday that we start. Baby #2 is due in 4 weeks and I'm not sure if that is enough time for him to get it so there isn't a ton of regression. Ugh, it's hard to make parenting decisions.

I would wait since baby #2 will be here so soon. He just turned 2...there is no rush! My goal is for DD1 to be potty trained by two and a half. DD2 is almost 3 months and things have been way too crazy to even think about potty training DD1.

Hmm. I might wait until things settle after baby comes. Unless YS decides to start sooner. Does he seem ready and wanting to PT?. Is there a reason you want to start right away?

Boys being harder to train is a myth. IMO don't listen to your pedi. Potty training is not a medical issue and not something that is covered at medical school, so they're usually not much better informer than a parent.
I also disagree that you should wait for #2. If he seems ready, I would jump on it. Who knows how long it could be before you feel like you can handle it with caring for a new baby on top. And the longer you wait, the harder it gets. He may be rocking it by the time baby comes! Don't worry about a regression either. That may or may not even happen. He will likely display his displeasure with the change in one way or another, so does it matter which way? And if you do the hard work now, even if he does regress, it will be easier to get back on track than to start from the beginning.

I'm following the guidance of the Ph Crap book that says the ideal age to potty train is 20-30 months. I know he is ready, now wanting to train is another story. I'm confident he will get it with time, I just don't know how much time that will be.

Thank you, you make some great points. I really want to do it I guess I just needed some encouragement.

If you thinks he's ready, dive in! Worst case he really not ready and then you delay it. You got this! You aren't alone in potty training struggles were in the depths of it over here too

Well, with everything going on with L I abandoned ship on the night training after day 2. Every night after that second night she has stayed dry. Maybe she is done? Or it's just a fluke?
@babylentilbean maybe she just needed to adjust. That's great nighttime is going well!
We just did our first outing without diapers. We had DD sit on the potty before we left and I brought her portable seat (sits on the regular toilet seat). She was accident free and even peed on a public toilet!

RandomName, What portable seat are you using? I still need to get a new one for us.
This is the seat one we were using to start: m.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2267519 We have the grey one. I put this one in my trunk today on our outing in case she needed to pee while we were driving. I think I'll just leave it there now.
