Not that anyone has this problem, but the quickest way to wake your kid up from a nap is to find the snuggliest blanket in your house and then get really comfy on the couch. You can also shave time off if there is an animal cuddled up with you.
I just hop in the shower. That usually does the trick.
I feel like a failure because I can't get this kid to nap anywhere but on me. It's so freakin time consuming to hold him for naps in addition to nursing and now solids. Plus, I'm supposed to interact with him too, right? I've seriously tried everything and he just screams his head off and DOES NOT eventually give in to sleep. I keep saying to DH that if we had a second who was like this I have no clue how I'd parent both kids.
Sure, I could just not hold him, but then by 10am he'd be a screaming mess. I did this once and he finally gave into a nap around 2pm and it was for 20 min. It was the day from hell. End rant.
I think we have twin babies. I don't always mind his neediness, but I cant have 2 like this.
I had a Mom Fail today. I had a meeting with an acquaintance at a coffee shop this morning. The floor was carpeted, not thick, but something, and I had a blanket for him to sit on since he was bored and squiggly on my lap, and for the most part, he sits like a pro. Of course, he did a header on to the hard floor and made his mouth bleed. I felt terrible. Thank God breastfeeding cures almost everything for this kid. And hopefully his dad isn't mad at me.
I was just carrying LO around trying to one handedly make her a bottle. While I was in the kitchen, I grabbed a two bite brownie and shoved it between my lips. As I was going back into the living room, baby in one hand, bottle in the other, brownie halfway in my mouth, my impatient child ripped the brownie from my mouth and shoved it in her own and started eating it!
I don't know whether to be horrified, angry, or just plan proud. Either way, add brownie bites to her list of solids.
Does it worry you to have her eating something so chunky and solid? Last night K grabbed a Brussels sprout off my plate and popped it into her mouth and gnawed on it until I took it away. Its the only food shes actually been into. She was actually mad when I took it away, but clearly there was no way she was going to be able to eat a Brussels sprout without teeth.

Just another example of us having the same child. My DS will sleep at night in his crib but if you think you can get him in there for a nap you're crazy

Mine is turn the kettle on to have a hot cup of tea. No hot tea allowed ever.

Ditto! Will sleep all night in his crib since about 3 weeks old.
Also I've had 2 snow days in a row and now I feel spoiled and I want to stay home always!! We are supposed to get 2 or 3 more inches tonight.... That's enough to cancel school, right?

WTH dog? You're all interested in LO on you terms but as soon as he reaches for you you get all skiddish. You come up and lick his face and sniff him and watch but we have him pet you and you turn your head like you're going to snap at him. Not cool and I don't know what to do with you...

Give him his space and reinforce any positive reactions between the two. Make sure you keep a close eye whenever they are near each other.

That's what we've been doing. He's kind of a big clumsy oaf so when LO was really little I think we spent too much time saying stay away. So we've started just praising the dog every time he comes near LO and if he looks skiddish just giving him space. Also calling him over when we're sitting on the floor with LO and having the dog near us and petting him while playing with LO. I hope it gets better...
My diaper genie is officially rendered useless. LO has taken such tremendous dumps in the lAst two days the diapers don't fit and the stink doesn't go away. I'm doing away with changing pads as well. Onwards with disposable ones only going forward.
My kid took the biggest dump today in her car seat. It absolutely went every where. It was down to her socks. Her socks!!! It was also the only time we have went anywhere since being in SC that she hasn't screamed like a banshee in the car. I don't understand these babies.
Also, I'm annoyed I can't have casual parenting discussions with my friend (whose daughter is almost exactly a year older than DD) without her saying "oh you'll see" or "just wait". It isn't a competition first of all. Just because I disagree on something doesn't mean I think you're wrong or I'm right. I have no idea what having a toddler is like but it does not mean I can't have an idea of how I will handle something when she gets to that age.

Sorry. Rant over.
Omg yes!!! All of this. I've gotten to the point I don't offer my opinion unless they ask for it.
TD finally deleted my account! Yay! I had to re-submit my request for some reason and it took me forever to find the stupid HQ board again with the reformatting so I'm glad it's finally done!

This so much!!! Drives me up the wall. Or my sister is notorious for saying, see what you have to look forward to?
