I am struggling with this myself. My host is trying to go minimalist and is giving away or selling a lot of items in her home because she has a lot of clutter. She has a lot of money and can buy herself anything she wants, it cannot be a food gift because of allergies. I am stumped. I like the idea of the monogrammed bag and filling it with personalized items because I think it would really be nice, but I don't think it would work for my host. My host is really really into her dogs so maybe I could get something personalized with a photo of the dogs (not my style, but very much hers).
She sounds like me, minus the lots of money. The homemade mani/pedi set sounds really nice. A crystal nail file, cuticle cream and nail polish is always welcome.
I'm having two showers. One co hosted my my two BFFs.. I like the idea of a manicure gift as mentioned previously. For the other shower it's my aunt and MIL hosting- they are both coffee lovers so I was thinking of doing a coffee mug stuffed with little stuff.

I haven't heard of this either. I didn't do this at my wedding shower and I don't recall ever hearing about someone else doing this. It is a nice idea though, especially as a nice thank you. Now I know the bulk of the work has been done by my MIL, my SIL has also been involved as well as my mom. It's being held in a restaurant so I don't know if they're all paying for it or just my MIL. Would I still get them all the same gift? I can't really ask who is paying for the bill.
@texasmama15 I LOVE Kendra Scott! I'm having two smaller showers instead of a big one. One will be hosted by my SIL so I was actually thinking of getting her something like Kendra Scott earrings or an Alex and Ani bracelet.
The other shower will be hosted by my grandmother. No clue what to get her! I already got her a cute little Willow Tree box for Christmas. Any suggestions on a grandmother hostess gift?
My mom is throwing my shower and this is what I'm leaning towards:
A diaper bag/tote with "grandma" embroidered on it. And fill it with a few diapers, wipes, pajamas for baby, bibs and burp cloth (still thinking of things to fill her bag with). This way she has a bag of her own to store baby stuff in when our little guy (and her other two grandkids) comes to visit, as well as some baby items so that she doesn't have to purchase those for her house. Sort of a little promise that we will visit.

I wouldn't get her an item FOR the dog, but the picture idea is nice.
I will probably get my host a Cheesecake Factory gift card.
I'm another Midwesterner who's never heard of hostess gifts for showers. I'm out of the baby shower loop, but I did have a bridal shower and the thought never occurred to me.
I can't believe some people have never heard of this!
This has been bugging me for weeks. My friend and her mom (who is one of my mom's best friends) are throwing mine. They are going nuts and I can't think of what to do/get. The best way to describe them is to tell you that The local Talbots sends her flowers at the holidays (no joke. That's how you know you have a problem). They are classic, put together women and I want to think of something thoughtful that is not cutesy or cheap. So hard!
I gave my bridal shower hosts something seasonal from Williams Sonoma.

Now I'm thinking something from Kendra Scott for my 3 hostesses...I know they all love her jewelry. Any other Kendra Scott fans in here?!
Me!!! I was in a wedding recently and the bride designed necklaces and earrings for us through Kendra Scott (she knows someone who knows her or something). I'm SO in love with the jewelry!
@texasmama15 The picture doesn't really do the color justice! I love that it's pretty neutral so I can wear these pieces with a lot of different things! Best bridesmaid gift I've received!
