Bluedaisy I doubt we will be doing anything for Easter either, no special outfits or baskets.
carolyngrace and @jemomma I am awful at going to A when he's fussy with my H because I feel guilty that's he's not happy and I can normally remedy that. If my H would actually try to entertain him instead of expecting him to enjoy watching YouTube videos with him it would work out better for everyone. I hadn't even thought about the self confidence angle though so I'll have to work on my reaction times.

We are religious, but I go for practical and do Easter buckets (like a sand pail) so they can play with them all the time. They (older kids) get candy, and maybe a little toy or something. T will get a bucket of baby snacks, lol. I got the herd record papers for my first sheep in my Easter basket when I was 10, so, yeah. At some point maybe we'll do something more.
If DH has the kids, he gets every aspect of them, including grumpy/whiny/fussy, etc. Maybe I'm wired different, but I don't feel inclined to rescue them (or him). He's Daddy, he can deal with it. If he starts following me around with T, I just interact while I do my thing (usually housework).
T & P's are coveted today, DH is taking DS1 for his thrid attempt to have a cavity filled. Hopefully no freakouts, and he remembers all the "practice" we've done.
We're not religious at all, but I always had a big basket with candy and small gifts like books or lip balms in it. I bought LO bath books and a rattle after last Easter and I got her a Dr. Seuss book. Was planning on puffs/mum mums and maybe a new bath squirter.
Morning! I have spent the morning crafting (aka finger painting, aka cleaning up more than crafting) for H's birthday next week! Hes never used a lunch kit for as long as I can remember, so I bought a package of brown paper bags, let the kids have a field day with them with finger paint, and I think over the next few days I'll gather some sayings or quotes from DS and write them on the bags (on DD's I think I'll write 'bah bah bah bah' because I'm funny like that). Then I bought him a reusable brown paper bag, insulated and washable, just made to look like a brown paper bag, and we'll give that to him on father's day. I'm thinking the bags we made will get him close to then. I have been pretty proud of myself for thinking of this and killing two birds with one stone on the gift plan haha.
We've never done gifts or baskets for Easter yet either. We are usually going between both of our parents houses that weekend and DS has always ended up getting candy or something there. If we are ever home Easter morning I would like to have a little Easter egg hunt once in awhile, that's what we did growing up, no special buckets or anything. Thinking about it now I think we used mixing bowls haha.
ETA-we will be dyeing/decorating eggs leading up to Easter though!

Team No Easter Basket here, too. We never did them growing up, I had friends that did, but it never bothered me that I didn't, I guess. When she gets older I think it would be fun to do an Easter egg hunt, but even then she will probably just get some sort of cheapie basket to collect the eggs, nothing in the basket.

Easter falls on my birthday a lot so I always loved it. I'm not religious at all but I love the non religious parts of it. Also I just assume it's extra celebration for my bday! ?
Baby G woke up to nurse 3 or 4 times last night, but I feel like I got decent sleep and at one point I was thinking about how one day I'm really going to miss holding her in my arms to calm her down like that. She turned 8 months yesterday and I'm still amazed every day how fast her first year is going by.
Easter baskets: We always got them growing up, but like with candy and a stuffed animal. Last year someone I know posted a pic of her kid's basket with clothes, gift cards, and other solid gift type items. Seemed a little over the top to me. So far I bought G a cup from the dollar section at Target and an Easter board book. I think I'm going to try and find a cheap $1 basket and DIY it up with some cute fur, fringe, or tulle. I'm going to get some bath toys for her because I've been meaning to anyways, nothing too extravagant since she's not going to remember.
I heard of Easter baskets for the first time in yesterday's thread :-) It's a religious celebration for us. My parents aren't religious, and when I was a kid they would hide a couple of little gifts for me, usually one chocolate and one not! H and his family never had any chocolate at Easter. We'll probably do a little hunt for L when she's older as I have good memories of that.

me too! My birthday is on Easter this year. are we bday twins?

Baby was biting so much when I was trying to feed her before bed that we had to use some of today's pumped milk to give her instead. I was getting really frustrated and I got really upset with her and felt terrible afterward

My parents still do easter baskets for us, just some chocolate and jellybeans usually. My mom told us that she and my stepdad will be giving J a bike trailer as a gift for easter. They planned on it as a Christmas gift, but didn't want us to have to store it all winter, so hence it being an easter gift. I will probably pick up a bucket at dollar tree and put a few things in it. Let's be honest here, the bucket is just going to end up in his mouth anyways.
carrots, some of my favourite Easter memories are of my paternal grandfather getting SUPER into the egg decorating and going all out with the crazy dying kits (3D was pretty hilarious).
I also come from a family that loves to celebrate EVERYTHING.
About showers: H used to come in all the time and I just had to tell him "look, shower time is my one quiet time, please stay out". He quit coming in after that, and now it's even to the point where when I'm starting to get stressed H will be like "why don't you go take a shower?" All of you with interrupting husbands, just address it and be forward and honest. They probably don't even realize what they are doing.

Morning all. I just signed C up for her first swim lessons. Gah! They told me I would need a disposable diaper and a cover. I have bought the pampers water diapers (splashers I think) and a bathing suit for her. Is that good enough? Or is there a separate diaper cover too? I didn't think to ask, and now I am stuck on a call so I can't call them back, and I will probably forget to call later.

I just got an email from my mom saying if I meet her at the salon after work today she'll pay for my mani/pedi as a treat since C has been giving me a run for my money. Oh hell yes. After the wine flu yesterday, and then waking up to an early and unexpected AF today, I need this.

what you bought is perfect, no need for any extra cover! When does she start lessons? My C starts her second round next weekend, she really loves splashing with all the other kids:)
mrsdee1982 , ours requires the disposable swim diapers plus a reusable swim diapers (looks up iplay swim diaper on Amazon) so maybe that's what they mean? I think it's dumb but don't care enough to fight them on it. I'm really looking forward to W's first lesson in 2 weeks. Never would have thought to look into this without you all suggesting it!
So it would be her Pampers, a reusable swim diaper and her bathing suit? Her little booty is going to be so padded!

That's what the guy at the Y told me. I don't know how all of that is going to fit in his bathing suit haha.
+1. Our swim place is fairly strict on swim diaper, reusable swim diaper, then bathing suit (although technically he doesn't need a swim suit), but they won't allow just disposable swim diaper + swim suit. We just bought swim trunks a size up for DS, and he doesn't have a problem with all the extra cushioning for his tush
My in laws are visiting Saturday - a spontaneous trip. They live 2.5 hours away and mil takes care of her 92 year old mother, so it's great that she found someone to watch her so they can visit. I told my mom and she flipped out. "Why do they have to visit again? I guess I'll just see her (LO) when she's walking." Uh...my mom lives less than 20 minutes from me and can visit any time she wants. I even told her to come over Sunday, but she refuses to leave her house on Sundays. I apparently need to visit her extremely non-baby proofed house because I'm a terrible daughter. Sigh.
3dimesdown yep, it's going down in your town. Cantore came to Houston a couple of times for hurricane coverage so we all knew it was ground zero. He has also been in Boston the past few years for snow storms. The times he was here we got well over a foot of snow and thunder snow. I met him in the Boston Common. Dude is super short and tan!
+1 for buying PB liner and my own basket. Easter week ( Holy Week) is huge for us. I grew up receiving treats Easter morning in our baskets, and then using the basket for egg hunting later in the day.

I haven't finished catching up on the thread, so someone may have already answered this, but I had the same question/issue when I signed Jude up last month. They wanted a disposable swim diaper with a reusable swim diaper (like a cover) over it. The lady also mentioned that if his trunks had a plasticky liner, we could use that instead of the reusable. But of course they were mesh.
Stay safe 3dimesdown. We're paying attention to the weather up here, but I think we're just going to get a lot of rain. They're saying that we've got the potential for tornadoes, but I know its going to be worse for you all. Keep us posted
It's annoying how my milk production fluctuates from day to day. Last week I had a day where I barely got 4oz in a session. I just pumped over 8oz. That's such a huge difference!
Unrelated. I have youtube on playing random videos. Sia's Electric Heart is on right now. Shia Labeouf is so freaking hot, I can't handle it.
Stay safe people in storm/tornado territory. This may sound stupid but this is coming from someone with no experience of tornadoes. It sounds terrifying. How much warning do you get? What do you do? Do your houses have shelters? How do you know when it's safe? Sorry, Im just really curious!
I'm not in today's tornado area, but we get them up here in the summer. We have a basement, so you go down there when you have a tornado warning. Otherwise, you go into a central room in your house with no windows - bathrooms are supposed to be good because the extra plumbing in the walls is supposed to make them more sound. You bring cell phones and/or radios with you to listen to the news so you know what's going on. How much warning you get is kind of variable depending on the storm - our rule of thumb is if the sky gets green and it gets super windy, we go to the basement just to be safe. I'm super scared/paranoid about tornadoes though, when I was in second grade I had one touch down less than a half mile from my elementary school I was in.
Thanks! I want to AW some of my faves. There was 40 in the pack so I won't bore you with them all lol. I did some nice quotes on some, or like 'have a nice day!' But mostly just had a conversation with DS about them and wrote it down haha.
