I'm due for my upgrade and I can't decide! I have a motorola razr now, so I'm used to the Android OS, but not set on it or anything. The cost for either would be the same for my plan.
I think I'm leaning towards the Galaxy because of durability and battery life, but H is pushing me towards the iPhone because he has one for work and loves it. Thoughts? What do you prefer and why?
I have the galaxy S5 and I love it. I like that you can change the battery if needed and you can also add memory with a memory card. I-phone you have no access to the battery to adding memory. The S5 is also water resistant, I thought that was pretty cool.
My first smart phone was a droid and then at my most recent upgrade (October) I decided to give the iPhone a try since everyone raves about them and I regret it so much. I really miss my droid. I feel like with the iPhone I'm trapped in apples little box. With the droid I had much more storage, could charge apps to my Verizon account if I wanted and I could download free ringtones.
Another Galaxy fan here. I love mine-in addition to all the pros everyone said above, it takes really great pictures. I usually get better quality pictures than my friends/family who have iPhones.

My biggest dislike of my Android (I have a Droid DNA) has always been the camera quality. A lot of my pictures are grainy, and then I look at pictures from iPhones and they are gorgeous. But I've heard good things about the cameras on the Galaxys.
Do you have any other tablets/devices? You might have trouble getting anything you have in Google Play (paid apps, movies, shows, music) onto an Apple device. I have an Android tablet and I like that it syncs really well with my phone (e.g., if I search for an address on my tablet, it is waiting for me on my phone when I get out to the car).
I also really like the flight and package tracking that Google Now offers on Android devices. I'm sure Apple has equally good options, I just don't know of them. Maybe that is rolled into Siri?

I'm the odd one out. I had an android forever up until when the iPhone 6 came out. I had a Google Nexus 4. It was an amazing phone. We switched to the iPhone 6 and I LOVE it. My husband is a big tech guy and was Team Android until the 6 came out. Apple made a lot of good changes with the 6.
I had a Samsung a long time ago and it was horrible. I will never have another Samsung phone again. I don't like how it works and I don't like how the interface looks. But that's just my opinion.
I have an iPhone, I got it because I was talked into it. I like that the iphone is simple, easy to use, easy to learn, its hard to screw it up, and it just works well.
That said, all of my co-workers have Galaxys and I think that the Galaxy is far more easily customizable. I like that there are additional buttons on the bottom of the phone (home, back menu), rather than the single button on the iPhone. I think the additional buttons make the Galaxy easier to use in that way.
You have a lot more customization options with Android. No contest there. But if you're just going to use stock regardless then there's not really too much difference. Personally, I don't like iOS, so I wouldn't go iPhone.
iPhone! My first smart phone was an android and it was garbage, and have loved my last 2 iPhones. DH had an iPhone then switched to the Galaxy, which he said, even though the android has more ability to customize and adjust settings it isn't as quality of a phone, he plans to switch back to the iPhone when his contract is up.
I have the Iphone 6 plus. I love it. But, I have always had an Iphone. I will admit, the 6 plus got some getting used to as far as size but the video and camera are great.
So my vote, IPhone. But take it as you will cause I have never owned an Android. H has the new galaxy and he loves his but he has always been an android lover.
I am a die hard IPhone fan, I have a droid as my work phone and I really don't like it. But I have been an Iphone lover since the beginning. I do notice that on my IPhone videos play faster then my droid especially when I am on 4g.

Lurker chiming in... the Galaxy S6 should be out end of March/beginning of April if you can wait a couple months. I'm up for an upgrade too and I'm waiting until I can compare the S5 with the S6.
I've had an iPhone and a Droid. I LOVE my iPhone, but I also sync it to my Mac and iPad. It's awesome if you're a big Apple person anyway, like I am. I love how user-friendly and easy it is too.
Customizable stuff like on the Galaxy do nothing for me. I don't care.
Im a galaxy lover. I won't buy anything else as long as these stay hugh quality. I love my S4 and my parents are on love with their S5. My aunt likes her iphone, but isn't in love with it. I think she's going galaxy next time.
I had the LG Optimus G (Android) and just switched to iPhone6. I am pissed off on a daily basis that I switched and counting the days until contract end (I have had it about 5 months now). The only thing I like better is Facetime, really, but Skype was only a tad behind. Just about everything that was one click on the old phone takes 3-4 clicks or swipes now. I had the phone 2 months and was out of storage vs. 2 years and never having that problem with the LG. I have had iPad & iPods for years, so I am familiar with them, so I did not think I would lose so much ease of use on the Android. I can still sync with Google+ for photos and stuff.
IMO, iPhone doesn't multi-task as well (won't download email on Wi-fi if you are on the phone) and no "back" feature is annoying to switch between apps. There are shortcuts on the iPhone but still takes multiple clicks or swipes. It's harder to manage with one hand. I don't find the camera to be that great, and the auto-flash doesn't come on when you need it to, so I miss pictures because I have to stop and switch the flash. Of course, I admit, some of these could be user-error.
I could go on an on, but if I could go back in time, I would never have made the switch. I am on the same wireless provider, but I now drop calls three times on my drive home for what used to be none. Also, pretty consistently (like 4 calls out of 6) connect but you can't hear anything on the other side so you just have to hang up and call back. I do need to call Sprint to see if there is something that can be done, but overall, just wanted to share my experience, which SUCKS. Good luck!
Also, I wanted this to be a clicky poll because I was eating lunch and had a taco in one hand while scrolling with my left hand. I could have answered sooner!

MH and I love our Galaxy S4s. A few close friends have the S5 and love them. When it's time for my upgrade I plan to go with the Galaxy S5 (or wait if there's any rumors of an upcoming S6).
MH used to have an iPhone before his Galaxy and he prefers the Galaxy.

sister13 Apple is dealing with a bunch of lawsuits over how much memory their OS requires. That is something I would worry about because I don't want to buy Apple Cloud storage space.

Galaxy has similar lawsuits against them. Nooks, Kindles, pretty much all electronic device misrepresents their storage. It's an industry problem, not an apple problem.

My H works for Samsung, so I know all about the troubles they have with the processor chips for the phones. Neither he nor I own a Samsung phone. My dad does (S5) and loves it most of the time. The rest of us have iPhones and won't turn back. Just my two cents
I have a Galaxy 4s mini. I loved the first one I had until a Verizon update caused a system failure. (If there was a better service provider in my area I would switch) The refurbished phone they sent has been nothing but trouble. The only other problem I've had is that the original charger is less than a year old and no longer works. I've also owned an Incredible 2. I had that for 3 years but switched because it wasn't updating properly anymore. I refuse to get an iPhone but I am very attached to my seven year old MacBook as well as my iPad.
I love my iphone (I'm on an iphone 6, which is my 4th iphone, I think? Yeesh). I also have had three different versions of iphones for work, and I also have a macbook and ipad. But I haven't used the Galaxy so I can't really compare, but the main reason I don't plan to ever switch is because literally everyone I text with any sort of regularity also uses iphones, so features like imessage and Facetime are really useful (especially for sending messages to/calling my SS, who has an old iphone but no cell service).
I have the Iphone 6 plus. I love it. But, I have always had an Iphone. I will admit, the 6 plus got some getting used to as far as size but the video and camera are great.

Holy crap those things are huge! Lol a coworker just got one and we keep bugging him that well hVe to get him a fanny pack for it because it won't fit in his pocket lolz
OP I made the switch to an iPhone and absolutely love mine. The OS is simple. Not as customizable but the ability to sync with my iPad/work iPads and lap tops is awesome.
