Argh! We're having an office wide happy hour this afternoon in the break room to celebrate engineer's week.
It's a small enough office that people will notice if I'm not there and they will notice if I show up and don't drink! There's no winning.
I thought I had dodged the rumor mill by drinking with coworkers twice last week before my bfp.
Why do people have to be so nosy?
For real, one of my biggest pet peeves while pregnant is having to actively convince people I'm not pregant. I hate that everyone feels like it's their business. I have a friend who literally puts people on bump watch and frequently asks why I'm not having coffee/drinking/eating sushi etc
I called Comcast to set up our service for our new address, FPL to transfer power, and our new Utilities place to inquire about getting water service (they need a $200 deposit the day we close to set up). I think the only thing I have left to do is set up our address change with the USPS. While I was on the phone with Comcast Fed-Ex dropped off the closing disclosure. This is all so REAL!! We are going to be Home Owners 2 weeks from Monday!!!

Sorry, I clearly needed to get that out lol
Wow. I don't think I could stand being questioned like that without retaliating how that much that may make people who are struggling with loss or IF feel like utter crap. How self-centered that they feel they need to be in the know.

We're headed to the Honda Classic tomorrow for sunshine and golf. I'm going for the sunshine Tonight its Olive Garden for dinner because I have a major craving for salad and breadsticks. I've been thinking about it allll day
Just got the follow up phone call from the OB's office. She said everything looked good. She said the heartbeat looked good too. I asked what it was and she said "it was 111, which is a little bit on the lower end, but it's still very early". Annnd que tepid enthusiasm lol. I'm trying to be optimistic and not think about what I know slower heart rates can lead to. No more scans at this point, just my prenatal visit around 8 weeks. Pretty sure time will drag...
If anyone hounds you about not drinking, tell them you have medical tests you have to abstain before. If they ask what tests, tell them to sod off, the nosy prick!
Or tell them you have to drive your cousin to the airport later. I've used that before.

I plan to say I have to pick up the kids at daycare but they'll still just roll their eyes and not drop it for the next 7 weeks when I officially announce.
I reduced my coffee intake last fall and only drink decaf at work now. They were so convinced I was pregnant. I'm definitely not 6 months along, folks. You don't always know!

This will be me next weekend. We're having a much needed GNO...at a WINE and Canvas event. With drinks and appetizers to pre-game. I'm pretty sure there's no getting out of this one. I will probably fess up.
All this talk of appointments and ultrasounds...I broke down and called my OB's office today to get myself scheduled. First "appt" is 3/24, a phone call with the OB Educator. First "real" appt? 4/15. I'll be one day shy of 12 weeks.

That's a tough one. My cousin would tell people she had too much to drink the night before so she wasn't drinking that night. This works for well for a Saturday night event and for someone who actually drinks a lot so the idea isn't that far fetched. It worked for her....for the first pregnancy. Then her friends were on to her.

That really get my hackles up.
Trust that I am looking forward to 3 months when I can tell her I'm pregnant and how awful it is to hound people about it.

This was how it was with my doctors at the hospital where DD1 was born. It's really amazing how different it is with different providers.
This is how it was with DS, so I'm not surprised. I expected it. My sister uses the same practice and OB and she had the same experience. I'm just kinda glad to have something in stone to look forward to now.
Ivf and loss history can also make earlier appointments and additional ultrasounds. It's best not to compare. If I wasn't having the 8 week dating scan, I would have one 20 week u/s and then appointments every 4 weeks.
Sitting here, drinking mint tea and watching Star Trek to keep my mind off my symptoms.
Anyone else lounging around trying to decide when to go to bed?
Yeah I'm prolly going very very soon. I was just crocheting and drinking hot chocolate, but my eyelids are reeeally heavy. We were catching up on dvr'd shows. I think I'm getting a cold.

Not sure if this was directed at me?
I'm not comparing. And I know loss and IVF can make differences in the frequency of earlier appointments. People were talking about and sharing their appointment experiences, so I shared what mine will be.
macaronmama, assuming no problems arise, I won't have an ultrasound until my 20 week anatomy scan. My regular appointments with my OB will start at 12 weeks and then follow the typical prenatal pattern (every 4 weeks, every 2, and then weekly) DS was born SGA (actually his pediatrician thinks he was growth restricted) so I'll have routine growth scans after 32 weeks, otherwise I would be having just the one at 20 weeks.
FWIW, **losses mentioned** My sister had an early second tri loss and then another at 7 weeks a couple months later, and the pattern of her prenatal appointments with my niece and nephew followed the same pattern as mine.
I was adding more information to the general conversation britta. It wasn't in a negative tone or directed at anyone. There are many folks on this board that are being seen by REs and having a lot of testing, appointments, and scans. I wanted to make sure people reading about all of that know that it's not the norm.
becole, that seems crazy to me - nothing til 20 weeks? I'd stark raving mad with worry. My appointments are every four weeks, thank goodness.
@holachica, if I watched Top Chef, I'd get to hungry to sleep, haha!
You still have a doctor visit where they listen to the heart beat starting at 6-8 weeks and then every 4 weeks until the end. But other than the regular blood work, no ultrasound unless you are AMA and getting the NT scan.
I had my first ultrasound at 6 weeks yesterday ( and to add to the conversation I am an IVF and loss girl, so that's why).
Everything looked good! Baby is measuring 6weeks and heartbeat was 116.
My RE (IVF Doctor) was very excited for us and told us baby's due date is her birthday. Very cool since I live my RE and she's been there for us through the worst.
Next ultrasound is in two weeks and if all goes well, I'll be released to an OB
