*We encourage all who are currently struggling with or recovering/recovered from insomnia to join us.*
1. Are you a current, recovering or recovered insomnia sufferer?
2. Did you always suffer from insomnia or was there a trigger?
3. What are you doing to treat or cope? Is it working?
4. Any major break-through lately that has helped you sleep.
QOTM: Do you notice that your insomnia increases at different times of the year?
1. Current 2. The first trigger was when I went on anti-anxiety meds (side effect) I weaned myself off when I gku but now it's back. I can generally fall asleep ok but if I wake up to pee or the dogs are whining I'm up, regardless of what time it is.
3. Usually after 45mins or so I just get up and go downstairs, watch TV, make a snack hoping ill get sleepy again. Sometimes I et back to bed by 5:30 or 6, usually by though.
4. Noop
QOTM: I've only had it since September so I can't really answer this one.
1. Are you a current, recovering or recovered insomnia sufferer? Current, but I finally have meds to help!
2. Did you always suffer from insomnia or was there a trigger? Always.
3. What are you doing to treat or cope? Is it working? Trazodone and sometimes doxylamine if the Trazodone needs some help. I can only get about an hour or two per pill, so I take it 3 times per night and so far so good. Though I am angry that my psychiatrist refused to try this before. Could have saved me a lot of trouble.
4. Any major break-through lately that has helped you sleep. Adding the dose of doxylamine when the trazodone doesn't put me to sleep. When I did that I got almost 4 hours of uninterrupted sleep. Though I've only done it once because even though both meds are deemed safe during pregnancy it makes me worried that they actually worked so I probably won't do it again until I get confirmation that it's not dangerous because anything that lets me actually sleep must be dangerous, right? lol
QOTM: Do you notice that your insomnia increases at different times of the year? Yes. Or at least it used to. Haven't really paid much attention lately.

@led, just check with your doctor to put your mind at ease. Those two should be safe, I'd think. Don't think it's not safe just because it's working. It's all individual. I tried max dosage for tradozone and didn't work at all for me. I am so glad you found something that works and fingers crossed that this is your solution!
Not much update for me, though I am still getting some sleep so I'm thankful. Falling asleep is the hardest part, and still a lot of stage one sleeping. I have to listen to talk show audio to help me fall asleep. I tried "sleep with me" podcast and it didn't work. I think I get too focused when it's just one voice. I need different talkers to just listen and not focus if that makes sense. Since I'm not taking any meds, and don't want to try anymore, I feel somewhat resigned to my condition. I've read about belsomra, which is specifically for those having difficulty falling asleep. But the reviews seem very mixed. . I also don't want to go through the insurance hoops to see a psychiatrist since we moved and have new insurance and PCP.
Well, I tried the trazodone+doxylamine combo again last night and it only lasted an hour. So so much for that magical cure. But at least maybe it will work sometimes? Maybe it just has to be the right circumstances? I don't know. It worked twice, I'm not giving up yet.
So I completely forgot to participate in my own check-in. Good job, Wallie.

2. Did you always suffer from insomnia or was there a trigger? After my first born and pp hit
3. What are you doing to treat or cope? Is it working? I take 10mg of ambien a night
4. Any major break-through lately that has helped you sleep. I got my psychiatrist to prescribe 10mg a night instead of 5. That has helped a ton!
QOTM: Do you notice that your insomnia increases at different times of the year? Not really due to the year. I think it's my medication causing me sleeping issues.

I had the weirdest experience with trazodone. My body felt tired but my mind was wide awake. But my body felt so heavy, So I stopped taking it.
