I haven't had any spotting for four weeks, and then I do now. Ugh, it is so annoying. I was hoping that was over, but apparently not. Guess I'll ask again at the perinatal dr on Thursday.
Do you know if you have any underlying conditions that would cause spotting during pregnancy??
I'm only asking because I have uterine fibroids and if baby kicks/moves funky and hits one of those it can cause spotting for me. I had an instance just about a month ago with spotting and that was the only thing they could find that would have caused it. I hope it stops and you get some answers soon!!
I'll ask the dr about that, thanks. I had spotting from week 8-22 on and off and neither the OB or the perinatalist could find any reason except maybe placenta previa. (Which moved, so is no longer an issue). But, you never know if they missed something like that if they weren't looking.
microworm , pbandj714 , twobananas , so I don't know how you get it to work, but it shows up across the picture as a blue ribbon in the corner saying "completion discount". It wasn't working this morning, but I just logged out and logged back in and went back to my registry and it's there again.
I think they also said the coupon is delivered to your inbox 1-2 months before you EDD.
Sometimes these ribbons show up for me and sometimes they don't. I think the completion discount comes 8 weeks before your due date.
There was a book fair today at work, so I couldn't resist picking up some books for the babies! The Pokey Little Puppy and a few Search-and-find books.
It feels like Thursday. It's 8:30am and I'm already dealing with itchy stomach in this work shirt. It's going to be an annoying day.
This morning I actually had to wake DS up at 7am so he would have time to eat breakfast before we headed out the door. This happens once in a blue moon and never on the weekend.
2dogs2kids have you tried the California Baby sunscreen stick? Would you recommend it? Filling up my cart here...
Jumping in here. I'm not a fan of the sunscreen sticks, including this one. They are impossible to use. They don't spread without pushing severely on baby's poor skin. Regular sunscreens are messy but otherwise painless and effective.
Also, watch for expiration dates if anyone gets you sunscreen early. I don't think babies can use them until six months old, so you don't want to find them annoyingly expired at that time.

Good points. I ordered a stick to try anyways since I have FSA money expiring in a couple weeks. As for expiration, I can always use what I ordered for DS1.

I loved the sticks once DS got to the toddler stage. I usually put it on with the stick and then rub it in a little with my fingers so he doesn't have huge white streaks on his face.
I had to work early this morning and then have the rest of today and tomorrow off since I have clinicals this weekend. My motivation factor is super low today.

I am also not a huge fan of the sticks, for the same reasons. I have never actually bought one for DS and I have no experience with California baby sticks. As a preschool teacher many children come in with sticks and I always felt they did not work as well as just using the regular stuff.
According to my pedi it is recommended that you do not use sunscreen under 6 months old because babies have extra sensitive skin at that young age. They just want you to keep them out of the sun all together.
We brought DS to Jamaica with us right before he was 6 months so I had a lot of questions for the pedi regarding this rule. He said if you are going to have a baby in the sun for any amount of time and are unable to keep him shaded that it is better to have sunscreen on than to not use it just because they are not 6 months old. He recommended the EWG website to find the safest, most effective and least toxic sunscreen.
Ultimately we ended up trying to keep DS covered or shaded as much as possible (full body bathing suit, big floppy hat, sunglasses, shaded floaty for the water etc) but we also used sunscreen on his face, hands and feet because I was over paranoid about the hot Jamaican sun. He was fine but he only has mildly sensitive skin.
pbandj714 I cannot help myself when it comes to children's books. We do scholastics in my classroom and I usually order more than the kids! I'm just really glad DS has finally gone back to liking books!
On another note, if anyone is looking for an excuse to eat cake (other than being pregnant which is always good enough for me) it's Dr Seuss's birthday today! He would have been 102!

When i logged in this morning I was so relieved thinking there was no randoms yesterday, and nothing for me to catch up on. oops! I've been popping in and out all day, but I'm mostly caught up. I think.
I had ordered an iPad last week, finally replacing one I've been without for over 6 months. UPS isn't coming fast enough. It will help keeping me up to date here. And you know, up to date with netflix....and facebook....and all those other amazing things I like to waste time on. Especially if/when DD takes my phone.
I made 3 apple crisps this morning. That's a lot of apples to be peeling and slicing let me tell you. But my house smells amazing!!
OH i have a question, if anyone reads through my rambling this far - STM's+ who have had C-sections.....did you have more muscle pain for subsequent pregnancies? I'm getting the worst pains that I can only imagine is my muscles and/or scar tissue, especially around my scar. I don't recall this discomfort with DD at all, so it really catches me off guard, and it's not constant. I'm also bigger than Iw as at this point with my last pregnancy, and baby is sitting higher, so I don't know if it's also an issue of completely different muscles getting stretched that haven't been before.
I'm also getting vericose veins worse than last time. So not pretty
But no linea nigra yet!
(I meant to post most of this in my weekly check-in post, but rushed through that yesterday. oops!)
cattuccino Apple crisp sounds amazing! I hope you have a apple peeler/corer/slicer! If you don't you should look into one!
I didn't have a c section but I have had a lot of muscle cramping/pain in my stomach that I didn't have with DS. My dr said it is fairly common for STM. Pregnancy brain has made it impossible for me to remember the reasoning behind it. So hopefully someone else can give you a better answer!
Also no linea nigra yet for me, but with DS it went all the way top to bottom, was super dark and it lasted for like 9 months PP.

Ooh, that's me! I haven't had any muscle pain or soreness around my scar with this pg. I'm definitely MUCH larger than I was at this point last time around, but baby is sitting MUCH lower for me. I think one reason I haven't had any pain though is I KNOW my ab muscles split last time (forgetting what that's called), and never fully went back together - so I'm already so stretched out.
I'm with you on the no linea nigra yet - but when it does come, I know it'll last almost a full year.
woodengirl07 I'm so sorry, are you still spotting today?
I drove to my weekly Bible study (which I really look forward to-I get to sit on the couch with adults and drink coffee while DS is in child care). It's 45 minutes away, but we really enjoy it and DS has fun with his friends. Right when we got there this morning, DS vomited everywhere, so we left because I didn't want to freak any other parents out. He has been acting totally fine, so I'm thinking he just ate something that made his stomach hurt a bit or something.
I let him watch the iPad on the couch when we got home and used those few hours to get caught up on housework-mopping, organizing my bra/underwear drawer, etc, so that I could watch Netflix during his nap time.
Hope everyone has a wonderful day-I still can't believe it's already March 2nd!!! My DS turns 2 this month and I'm more emotional about it than I was him turning 1!

Mmm cake. Which reminds me, Monday night DS (3) randomly said at the dinner table 'did you know it's Dr Seuss's birthday today?' I did not.

We were in the exact same boat going away just shy of 6 months to FL. We tried hard to keep her in the shade but the doctor gave the same advice about sunscreen under 6 months is better than nothing at all. I am not a huge fan of sticks either. They do make sunscreen wipes that my nanny liked a lot when DD was younger. I can't remember the brand but I feel like it was Mom MD or something like that.
As far as brands - I have never used California Baby for sunscreen because it's just so expensive. I really liked Think Baby (but super hard to find in stores), and Baby Ganics worked really well too. I got the one that was just zinc and titanium dioxide because they don't absorb into the skin. When she was super young I felt better about that....I'm a lot more lenient now that DD is older.
txmommy14 - I was way more emotional about DD's 2nd birthday than her 1st too! I think they just feel so much more grown up at 2 and not such a baby.
We saw a preschool today....we liked it but it's most likely going to be full. I'm getting nervous we won't get into any preschool. I mean we have a nanny so childcare is not the issue, but I really want her to get some class time in. I should have started sooner but we didn't know if we were staying in the city or moving so I started in January as soon as we decided. Uch....NY is so competitive in EVERYTHING. I'm ready to leave but at the same time I don't think I want to even stay on the east coast so I have like 6 months to convince my husband to move back towards the midwest. It's pretty much an impossible feat
frecklesnbrains, Dreaming, I've been getting asked by random people about the pregnancy lately too, and I actually like it-I must actually look pregnant for random people to have the guts to ask that!
nymama917, YES! At one, they still seem like a baby. At 2, he's really seeming like such a big boy and it's so sad. I am so sorry about how competitive it is to get into pre-k there-that's crazy! Hoping you find something that works out well!

nymama917, I feel you on the stress of trying to figure out daycare/school in a competitive market where you don't know where you'll be living. I haven't booked a daycare for this LO yet, and I have to go back to work after 12 weeks. But right now I have NO idea where we'll be living because it totally depends on whether we find a house or not. It's way past crunch time, and I have a feeling I'll end up paying $$$$$$ for a private sitter because of this.
I'm pretty excited... I can't be sure, but I think I had the most first world of all first world problems today. I went to Starbucks and ordered my drink, but the register froze so she gave it to me for free. Then I got in my car and realized they sweetened my drink that I wanted unsweetened. *shakes fist at the universe*
Other random stuff I've had zero time to post lately: I don't think DH is into the pregnancy body. He hasn't said that, obviously. And there is no point in asking because he doesn't have a death wish and will just lie. But I'm just getting an "eh" vibe from him as I've started to look really pregnant. No sexy time for me lately. I've gained 25 lbs. omg. I am just so freaking hungry all the time. My principal wants me to teach half my classes in a lower grade next year. I have zero desire to go younger, but I don't have much choice in the matter.

Funny - I don't remember typing this, but it sure sounds EXACTLY like the thoughts in my head. :/

vivela and Flair Underwood, I kinda secretly wish that my DH wasn't into my pregnant body. I keep turning him down because I have NO desire to have sex whatsoever and it makes me feel bad. He's getting whiny.

Is it bad because I am losing my mind being on pelvic rest?! MH is even afraid to mess around!!!
