Not at all sure what we are doing yet either. Her actual birthday is a Sunday, but it's also the day before the Fourth so I don't know if people will have other plans. It'll just be extended family and some close friends anyway. Maybe I'll do a brunch-type party so I'm not taking up an afternoon/evening of the holiday weekend.

We are doing Minnie Mouse. I will probably make a Minnie/Daisy cake or cupcakes. Mickey/Minnie balloons, I bought them each a Minnie Mouse dresses to wear. We might have a party and visit family back "home," but doubt that... so it'll just be a quiet, low key, celebration most likely.

We'll be doing a Bubble Guppies theme, since all she can talk about is "Puppies" (aka what she calls Bubble Guppies.) I have no idea what that's going to look like or what we're going to do for it. I thought about a gymnastics place but they only do 1 1/2 hour bday parties and that just seems like not enough time and so rushed. I wanted to do the Zoo, but considering I'll be 37 weeks pregnant I doubt I'll want to walk around in that heat. We may just go the bounce house rental route at the house, but that kind of disappoints me because I wanted to do something different that DD would love.
I feel like you can't go wrong with a bounce house, they always love that. Also, there's some cute bubble guppies/under the sea party ideas! Here's a few I found: And this, because cute:
I love the bubble guppies theme! L loves that show and now I have a song from the Humunga Truck episode in my head.
No!!!! Ugh. She's obsessed. Every morning "puppies", and when we get home from work she hands me the remote "puppies, on!" And when we rock before sleep she wants me to sing "puppies" aka, bubble guppies theme song. I swear I don't let her watch that much TV. But, seriously, I didn't realize someone her age could get attached to something like that!
I was going to have a mickey mouse themed party. But, it seems that DS is loving construction equipment a lot more. So, I'm thinking that we will have a construction party.
We went to a 3rd birthday party that was construction themed last year. Great DIY cake options. She made one like this:

We did a construction party for DS1 one year and it was one of my favorites. I'll see if I can find some pics.
This is too complex to make a clicky poll for, so I wanted to just add it to the conversation.
What time will you have the party, based on when your kid/kids nap and taking in to consideration other (similar age) kids who will also need naps.
My brain was saying before nap, but that might be hard or really early in the morning. I'm thinking 2:30-3pm (so after nap time for most kids, I assume)
soon2bmrsn, jnnfrrose6, and anyone else with older kids: at what age did your kids start choosing their own themes? I'm wondering if this is the last year I get to choose.
I'd say 3. DS1 was so into Thomas the train that year so it was a given; same when DS2 turned 3 and insisted on an Olaf party. So yeah, we moms get the first two, I suppose.

liziz we went to a joint 2nd and 4th birthday for brothers a couple of weeks ago that was from 10ish to 12. It was perfect timing for us as our kids nap from 1-3ish, so a mid afternoon party would be tough for or family.
@zerozeroone I'm assuming DS will have an opinion on a theme for his party this year (he'll be 4). He probably would have had one last year too, but I didn't ask. We just did our family and my parents at Stone Mountain for the day. He didn't actually have a party (we did still have cupcakes and hats, though).

DD naps around 1:30/2 so I am thinking either 11 or 5:30ish
We do nap typically from 12-3(ish), but can shift up to 1.5 hours in either direction. For us, it's easier to shift it early (does not impact her bedtime that way), and I know 2 of her close buddies are on similar 11-2 or 12-3 schedules.
@zerozeroone, DS just asked if he could have an ironman birthday for his birthday in August. Timely.
My boys have theirs all picked out too. We'll be doing Star Wars in June and superheroes in October. They ask to see pics of cakes on Pinterest. (Haha)

For all of us Minnie girls, here's the cute stuff I saw at target today.
But I also saw this and loved it because 1) it's polka dots and I love polka dots, and 2) it reminds me of a dress DD has. Can I do a party theme based on a dress? Ha.

My girls think anything with polka dots or a bow is Minnie related anyway lol.

Most of that stuff is on my shopping list for Target!
We are still doing the zoo. C favorite place and they do everything. And done!!
I'm jealous! I think I'll do this next year. I just can't imagine the zoo being a good idea for me when I'm 37 weeks pregnant, 90 degree weather and considering I swell like crazy when I'm pregnant!
