I met my husband over 4 years ago on an online dating website (OKCupid). I was chatting with my brother last night and he told me he started using the site. Then I wake up this morning and find a message from someone from the site in my inbox and I TOTALLY freaked out because I wondered if maybe my brother had found my old profile that I never deleted. I hadn't gotten a message in years so it seemed like a crazy coincidence. The idea that my brother might have seen my profile gives me the heebie jeebies, even though there really wasn't anything bad on there (no topless photos, no sex stories). I just deleted the account. I'm a bit nostalgic about it though - not everyone who uses an online dating site ends up with a husband and a baby.
cattuccino I always have to wake up super early to shower too. I remember the good ol' days when DS could be placed in the bouncer and I could happily (although quickly) take a shower. I do not want to think about the destruction and peril that would happen now if I was home alone with him and tried to shower! I've also tried bringing him in the shower with me and that was a complete disaster. Dry shampoo is my best friend!
babyzebra, I love dry shampoo. It afforded me an extra 20 minutes of sleep this morning. What brand do you use?
Tonight is family date night! We're going out for sushi and ramen. Despite having to stick to the cooked stuff, I'm reallllllly excited. DH has been in a funk (and has been so tense and grumpy) that I think a night out will do us good. I have a feeling my ILs might offer to watch DS, but even if they don't, it will be a lot of fun. Kiddo loves to go out to eat and try new things.
Also, feeling like Mother of the Year over here - all week DS has been saying, "teeth hurt mama", which I have totally ignored, mostly because he says, "knee hurt and butt hurt" about eighteen times a day (we've decided that he's reminding us of old boo boos from when he's fallen down or tripped - it is the only logical explination because he's 100% healthy and hearty). However - yesterday I was tickling him and he open his mouth really wide and there they were - THREE of his two year molars had broken through. Poor little guy was telling the truth. I feel like the worst mom ever.
nitecheese try not to feel bad. He was letting you know - and obviously wasn't screaming in agony about it. I think it's great he was aware and letting you know, but I understand the mommy guilt.
DD popped 3 of hers at the same time, but couldn't express it. I'm glad they get their teeth when they're so little and don't remember - it can be so hard on some of them.
Also, I have the herbal essences dry shampoo, and it makes my hair look okay, I just hate how it feels
Morning, ladies! I cracked myself up this morning (almost literally) when I got out of the shower. I flipped my hair over to dry it and put it up in a towel, but started to lose my balance. I almost dove head first back into our shower, but thankfully I was able to hold it together. Then I stood there laughing at myself and being thankful that DH wasn't here to witness it, because I'm sure it was quite a sight!
We're heading to my mom's for the night and celebrating my niece's birthday tomorrow morning. Hoping the weather stays nice so we can have some fun outside!!

At 1.5 yo DD has 4 teeth. I'm starting to wonder if she'll ever het the rest. My luck they're all going to come in at the same time while I'm trying to deal with a newborn who probably also won't sleep...
nitecheese I use Oscar Blandi dry shampoo. I have both the powder type and the spray type. The powder works better, but it takes time to work it in to not have white streaks.
babyzebra I have been home a lot lately because of sickness and I have been trying to figure out how the hell people do it! I tried taking DS in the bathroom with me and he had a grand time with toilet paper, turning on the washer and opening the shower curtain soaking himself and the bathroom. Another time I tried putting him in his crib and he screamed the entire time. Our living room is pretty well toddler proof but I can only imagine what would happen if I left him for an entire 10 minutes. I hate waiting till nap time at noon cause then I feel like I've wasted half the day. I came to the conclusion that I either shower at night (not a fan) or get up and sneak in a quick one before DH leaves for work.
Yesterday DD1 seemed a little off. I kept asking her if she felt sick, which she adamantly denied. Middle of the night, she comes into our room crying, "Mommy, I really am sick!" she's handling it pretty well.
This may throw off our weekend plans this we had finally agreed to. Oh well...

TGIF!!! This week has been soooo long. I am done. I am super excited because I am getting pedis and dinner with a friend, and we both really need some time away. I can't wait for my lady date!
Other than that, I have some work to get done, but not a ton, and I am ready for this week to be over. I do not know why but it has felt like two weeks in one. We have a family day planned tomorrow. We were supposed to have 2 birthday parties to go to, but I decided to skip out on one of them because we really need some family time. We're going to our favorite brunch place, going to see zootopia, and then doing some fun shopping. I'm excited to chill for a while and just do something fun with DH and DS.
Come on weekend! Also, daylight savings time can suck a butt, I am certainly not looking forward to that!
origamimommy, I totally forgot about daylight savings being this weekend. Noooo.....
In better news, I had my ob appt this morning and everything was great, except I have a little protein in my urine so we're going to keep an eye on that. Heartbeat was 145 and I'm measuring right on track. I'm also down to appts every 2 weeks now which made this all seem so much closer AND I signed my hospital paperwork today. Things are getting real, yo!
Oh man! I forgot DST was this weekend, too! I kept telling myself that it wasn't until next weekend.
I just need to get myself through work today and then the girls and I are going out to dinner! We're going to a local steakhouse that everyone loves, and it's my first time, so I'm excited.

We let DS play games on the iPad while we shower. He learned to use it really young and it keeps him in one place where we can see him while we shower. He also learned to unlock the front door early so we needed to find something that was more interesting than going outside. So iPad it was. There are tons of baby and toddler friendly apps for learning so it's not just a free for all. And it's his only tech or screen time (10-20 mins) during the day.

Yes! I hate the feeling of it. I've only tried the suave one but I'm not a fan. I also feel like it make the roots look a little grayish on my dark brown hair. I remember in a school play they used baby powder to make a girl look like an old lady with gray hair and I think of that every time!!

I hate the feeling of it, too! I've been meaning to try to make my own with a recipe I found on Pinterest. It was cornstarch and cocoa powder (so you don't get that white look).
I know this has been asked before, but does anyone have any good cold remedies while pregnant? Tylenol cold and flu isn't cutting it and it's getting worse and worse!
I always used shower time as DS' screen time too once he was too old to strap into a bouncy seat. If I put on an episode of Daniel Tiger, he was guaranteed to be occupied for at least 10 minutes to allow me to grab a quick shower and get dressed.
Now at 3.5, I have a little more freedom and can count on him to play by himself without destroying anything. It gets easier, ladies!!
txmommy14, I have terrible allergies and a neti pot has always helped me fight any congestion. For sore throats, hot tea and honey helps a little. I also gargle with salt water whenever I have any kind of congestion or post-nasal drip because it seems to help dry things up. Sorry you're still feeling sick!
txmommy14, I'm so sorry you are sick! I second the neti pot. I also got a saline nose spray that helped as well. And lots of fluids! Hope you feel better soon.

TGIF for sure! It's been a long week.
We have a funeral to attend tomorrow (again, I'm sick of funerals!) then we are going to see BILs band play tomorrow night. It sounds fun, but they don't go on until 9:00pm which seems really late to me now. I'm six months pregnant and you expect me to be dressed in real clothes and out doing stuff at 9:00pm?
My hormones must be surging today because I'm so damn emotional. Even though I'm delivering at the same hospital that I delivered DS at, I figured I would go ahead and schedule a hospital tour just in case anything has changed in 4 years. The thought of going back and seeing DS' birthing room brought back so many happy emotions and I sat here and cried....over a hospital tour.

Yay Friday!
I give in and let DD have my phone if I need a shower. She just sits on the bathroom floor and watches youtube. She loves her "bideos."
I also think I might be in the minority, but I loooooove spring forward. It makes me so happy when I leave work and it's not dark outside! Give me all the light in the evening!
Very glad to finally see Friday come around this week.
I woke up st 5am which will be perfect come next week with DST so I won't complain about it.
A family member is visiting from out of town so we are going to my parents for dinner which will at least keep DS happy and occupied for the evening.
I am on the way to work and haven't had any coffee yet, not good. It's also rainy and grey here today, if I wasn't pregnant I would make myself a sizeable Manhattan after work.
manybellsdown, I like the after effect of spring forward too. Not looking forward to the next week cause the time change either way messes me up for a few days. I wish we didn't do it any more.
Ya know, I would be totally on board with the time changes if they happened on Friday/Saturday instead of Saturday/Sunday. At least then we would have the weekend to adjust instead of having to deal with the first earlier morning on a Monday. Who thought that was a good idea??
