Support for weight loss struggles

I said I would create a thread for support for anyone who was struggling with weight loss.

It's taken me a couple of days to do it because I'm not really sure what it should be about and I really hate talking about my current struggles most of the time.

I'd like to keep this positive, with encouragement and motivation, but also be a place where people can confess, vent, cry, moan, or whatever until they brush themselves off and keep going.

The thread's open to high-fives, hair pats, and ass-kickings, as needed.  If you're feeling vulnerable  or just want to whine about something and don't want responses and/or truths, maybe put that in your post.  Can't make any promises, it's a public forum, but it might help.

I am trying to think "progress not perfection" as much as I can whilst still challenging myself.

I like this. I'm currently at my second highest (non-pregnant) weight. I lost almost 25 pounds in the past year, which was awesome, but got lazy and I gained it all back. I am so, so disappointed in myself - my "fat pants" now are too tight to button.

My goal is to get to my ideal weight (60 pounds away) by next June, right before my wedding. It's like a pound a week.

Right now I need to learn portion control and find some willpower because some foods I seriously just cannot stop eating once I start.

I'm frustrated because I've been working out hard and eating better since February and the scale has gone up. I'm staying motivated because I can see more definition in my legs and ass. Giving up does nothing for me at this point. I started marking in my planner the days I work out and am keeping track of weekly and daily mileage. Actually seeing it written down is helping to challenge me to go further the next day, next week. I keep hoping that making healthy fitness choices will translate to better food choices (I.e portion control)

I really like this idea. I struggled to lose the baby weight after #2 and wasn't to my goal yet when I got pregnant again. I would love to join if this is still going on after I have the baby.

I'm here. as much as I hate to say it, I have to look at it as a life style change. I feel so much better when I eat veggies, fruit, protein and watch my carbs.

right now I'm dying of a sugar headache because someone brought in birthday treats and I indulged.

I'm about at the end of my rope for trying to lose weight. I really don't know what to try next and it's driving me crazy.

DH looked at a couple of my food logs and is dumbfounded as well. He made the comment that if he ate the way I did he'd lost 30-40 lbs in no time. Awesome. I've gained. Then will lose a little and gain it right back.

That's the most frustrating part! I can do everything "right" gain slightly less weight if I did nothing at all. Thankfully, working out and eating better makes me feel better/more energized

I have struggled with weight FOR.EVER. And for a long time maintained and "controlled" it in unhealthy ways. I have been working out 3-6 days a week and real eal stuff that makes me sweat like never before, but the scale wont fucking move! Even this morning it was up a teeny bit. I would probably be served to lock away the scale. I am just so frustrated. I am considering hiring a nutritionist because I am at a loss. I don't understand how I can go from completely sedentary, eating whatever, drinking at least something every night to VERY active (I say very because I work out most days and burn in excess of 700 calories), making very whole food choices, and not drinking but maybe 1/2 nights and seriously the scale isnt fucking moving.

It was nicer just being fat and happy than fat and exhausted and sore.

I hate what I see in the mirror. I feel like I'm doing the right things - following weight watchers, I've taken up running - but the pounds just don't seem to be falling off. I feel like I've given up on so much in terms of unhealthy or splurge type eating and am getting nothing in return.

The only thing left for me to cut out is alcohol, and I don't have the willpower go do it. Sigh.

I was at my highest non- pregnancy weight at my doctor's appointment a month ago. It is so frustrating. I'm back on the right track with a major thyroid med adjustment and I'm slowly losing weight, but I've lost and gained over 50 lbs in the past year. The yoyo-ing weight issues make me feel very out of control/helpless, especially since the my thyroid issues are multifaceted (slower metabolism + emotional overeating + fatigue and joint pain).

I also love water sports (scuba, swimming, kayaking, canoeing) and look forward to summer, but hate the discomfort I feel in the gear because of my weight. I feel so self-conscious in my bathing suit!

I'm trying to focus on what my body can do and cut out negative self-talk. I'm hiking and jogging several times a week and eating lots of veggies and lean protein. One of my goals this week will be to take my bike to the shop so I can get some low impact outdoor exercise

If I don't see progress from what I am currently doing, I will be doing this or something similar as well.

I don't know really.  That's why it's so unsettling.  I've never felt like this before.

I've been eating well and regularly exercising for the last month and haven't lost 1 single pound. I'm trying to focus on being more healthy but it's so disheartening to step on the scales and see no change week after week.

FFC - I started looking into the average cost of lipo last week and was not scandalized by the answer.

I need a good kick in the butt. I was hanging on to 5 lbs from my pre pregnancy weight that I told myself was my nursing boobs. Then I stopped nursing and gained 5 more lbs. I was already 10lbs over what I was comfortable with before I got pregnant. So basically I need to lose 20 lbs.

I joined the gym and go 3x a week to yoga and yoga/Pilates. I've been pretty good about that.

We try to take the dog on a mile long walk daily or every other day but somehow it keeps only happening once a week. We need to do better.

My biggest struggle is food and alcohol. I'm having bad anxiety and I haven't been able to get my Ativan prescription back so I'm self medicating with alcohol.

I am so picky. I have so many food rules and I hate most healthy food so it's really difficult to stay on track. Ideally I would stick to whole foods and no white carbs 80% of the time. I've done it before with success but it's a lot easier when you don't have a baby.

My #1 goal is to be happy with myself no matter what my weight is. I know when I'm 70 I'll look back on these years and think "dumb bitch, why did you make yourself so miserable? You had your youth and your health!"

My #2 goal is to form healthy eating and exercise habits. Lately I've been eating shit, especially tons of sugar. It makes me feel like crap, and I've gained back 8 of 22 lbs I had lost.

For me, these things go together. If I am feeling shitty about myself, I'm way more likely to say fuck it and eat a bunch of chocolate. It's a vicious cycle.

I know it's different for everyone but would 10-15lbs be a healthy/doable amount to lose in 4 months? I need goals but don't even know what's healthy.

I am trying to learn portion control. I am about 25 lbs from goal weight and about 15 from a healthy weight range. Food is my reward and booze is a bonding activity for DH and I ( he is a brewer and I am a great cook...we do wine/beer dinners) I deal with stress by cooking elaborate meals and serving with booze pairings. I need a new reward or a better handle on portions.

I think that's totally doable. I was reading old journals, and when I had lost 10/15 pounds from May to September one year.

I'm coming in too. I'm not overweight per se (I'm at the top of the BMI "normal") but am carrying A lot of stomach fat. It's really affecting my mental well being. I have always been an apple shape but after two kids it keeps getting worse and now I feel like it'll never go back.
I made some New Years resolutions around exercise that I've been doing awesome on. I'm cycling and running a lot. But nothing body wise he changed in the last two months according to my measurements.
I don't want to get into heavy diet restriction or have it make a negative impact on my life. I feel like I could probably eat better, not have a glass of wine in the evening. But then I think that's so unfair. I should be able to enjoy life too. I don't know. This is a mental health issue rather than a physical health issue and I realize that. I need a body image makeover.

Tl;dr: I'm struggling to accept my new body/ know how and if it can change.
