I don't agree with piercing baby/little girls ears.
I don't care what other people do, but I'm waiting till they ask.
It also might be a cultural thing.
It's definitely cultural. I've been told many times that in Cuba they pierce babies ears in the hospital when they are born. Good thing DH and I happen to live in the U.S.

Maybe. Mine were pierced by the pedi when I was 4mos old. I'm honestly glad. Those holes give me NO problems. The ones I had pierced when I was older are much more sensitive and prone to infection.

I don't judge others who do it. I just don't like being told we should do it because of my husband's culture. It's easy to remind family that while that may be what is done in the hospitals in Cuba, it doesn't happen here and we don't have to pierce ears. When my niece was born she got like 4 pairs of earrings from family members. BIL and SIL felt so pressured to pierce her ears. Then they got infected and had to be taken out. I still overhear comments about how her ears aren't pieced and it's been 4 years!
I will not be piercing my daughters' ears until they are done with recess. I had one of mine ripped out while going down the slide in elementary school.

It's definitely cultural for the most part. Her nanny is from Guatemala, and she was disappointed when the baby came home from the hospital without them pierced, heehee.
I agree I'll wait till she's a lot older-my mom made me wait till I was 10, and I remember being so excited and proud!
