What's everyone got going on today? Anything exciting coming up for the weekend?
I have my US today, fingers crossed everything looks good!! Nothing too exciting for the weekend. I'm thinking of going to pick out a pregnancy journal. What things should I look for? I don't remember what I liked or didn't like about the other one I used.
hangry have fun today!!! danib GL with the stairs!
Got my second blood draw this morning to make sure betas are doubling. I'm so nervous. But if how shitty I'm feeling is a clue to beta levels, then really I should be all set haha
Morning all. I had my intake appt yesterday and so far, so good. I go back for my u/s on Thursday.
Not much going on today, thankfully...I needed a day to just be a bum, we have been go-go-going this week. DH and I have a date night planned tonight, and otherwise I think we'll just be doing chores/yardwork this weekend. And probably taking my car over to Costco for new tires...nothing I love more than spending $700+ on new tires (<--sarcasm).
@lizinfl, cars are such money traps. Mine is in the shop today getting a new sideview mirror after some dickwad smashed it off (no note obviously).
oh, that's the worst! I'm sorry
We should NOT have to put new tires on ATM, since we just put tires on my SUV 25K miles ago. (We bought it new in 2013). We had left the car with the dealer for routine service and they called after having it all day and were like, "you need new tires". So DH just trustingly told them to go for it, they put on some stupid European 'performance' tire, and now they are worn out. And they were EXPENSIVE. DH and I had words at the time b/c I felt like we were being taken advantage of, and sure enough, we were.
So this time, I'm picking the tires (Bridgestone, 80K mile warranty) and we are going to Costco, not the dealer who charges 2 prices for everything.
Clearly I still have a lot of rage about this issue.
Question for your ladies: should I go to my weekly session with my trainer at the gym this afternoon? It's a pretty high intensity class.
I know the "rule" for exercise is that you can continue to do all the stuff you've done pre-pregnancy, and that's what my doctor would tell me if I asked them too. And I'm not even 5 weeks. I'm just wondering what you, personally, would do.
dashook Cardio, etc. wouldn't bother me but lifting (super heavy weights, etc) would give me pause. (I have no real history or issues to be worried about, but chalk it up to paranoia So I guess it would just depend on the type of workout it is, for me personally.
dashook If it's not a session/class that you feel you can respectfully stop or bow out a little while in then I wouldn't risk it. Like LizInFL I'm ok with cardio but have left out weights until seeing my dr. I think the other concern would be body temp rising dramatically with high intensity but someone correct me if I'm wrong - FTM here.

FX for an excellent ultrasound hangry! And I hope those steps don't give you a problem and you'll be heading home soon danib.
dashook FX your beta levels are doubling beautifully. After tons of research I have the same mentality for any type of exercise during pregnancy, be able to talk through it. Right now it's not so important, but once that placenta gets going you never want to deprive any organ of oxygen which being out of breathe is a good indication of. Using this I was still able to do all my normal workouts, just as a lower intensity.
Happy Friday! I'm off work today and have a dentist appt. I need to do a grocery run and make the food that I'm bringing to SIL's baby shower tomorrow. DH works all weekend and according to our calendars I should see him Sunday afternoon before he starts his shift on Sunday evening. dashook my advice would be to go to your class and just take breaks when you need them. Drink plenty of water and just do as much as you feel you can. Working out while pregnant has plenty of benefits and if your doc says it's fine, I say go for it!
LizInFL , kleigh , sophiegrace , tjanca22, thanks for your insight. We do lift during the class but not heavy stuff at all (heaviest is probably 30 lbs. for kettlebell swings). Other than that it's mostly body weight circuits (squat jumps, planks, etc.). We've started doing timed rowing at the end of class though, which gets my heart rate up high, and I guess that was kind of the thing I was thinking of when I was wondering if it could be bad for baby.
I think I will go and just tell my trainer at the beginning what is going on. And that way I can modify if necessary and not worry that he thinks I'm just a slacker
It snowed quite a bit here last night so my boss gave us a no guilt avoid the roads and work from day, so me and my little man are just chilling in our pjs right now enjoying the morning.
No big plans this weekend. Need to clean the house and get caught up on laundry. But looking forward to some downtime.

My MIL is picking up DD from daycare this afternoon because we're going to a wedding in New Orleans this weekend. I'm so excited to sleep but I'm not looking forward to the drive, which will now be a couple hours longer since the road is closed at the state border due to flooding.
Oooh have a blast!! I have always wanted to go to New Orleans.
I am in the blissful 4-6 weeks pregnant stage where morning sickness hasn't set in yet, and I have a wicked sinus cold. Not fair at all. I am supposed to be enjoying this time! I miss decongestants so bad!
Not too much going on here, I'm so glad it's Friday because it's one day closer to Monday's scan and I am eagerly awaiting that. I'm having lunch with my neice and then meeting Sister D at Sister P's work for coffee. P and my mom work together so my mom will be there too. I might try to get H to do a date night tonight, that sounds fun.
All hell broke loose in MH's family's house last night while we were trying to cook our corned beef and cabbage. MIL is just nasty sometimes and last night was no exception. She can't stand to see (A) me cook (because I believe she feels like that was the one thing she could do that she likes to say I couldn't do - MH and his other family always comment on how much I go, go, go and how much I do) and (B) and can't stand MH and I all cutesy and in this case cooking together etc because she and FIL have no real relationship anymore and I sometimes feel she's bothered by "losing her son" to me. She speaks in polish when she doesn't want me to know what she's saying and after saying some things about me (I know enough to know she's speaking about my cooking) she starts staring at me while I was prepping and MH said something to her like "Jesus don't you have anything else to do, please leave her alone" (which pissed her off bc now he's coming to my defense). Then she started to say something because the water started boiling up a bit - I was already starting to lower it as she spoke. But it just barely began to bubble out of the pot and she's like "see" in Polish. MH went off on her in defense of me and they got in a heated fight before she stormed out of the house and didn't come back until 10pm.

No plans for today or the weekend. Would like to go to work tomorrow for our half day Saturday hours, but it's not looking good. I think I'm going to skip over the diclegis request and go straight for the zofran on Tuesday. I'm ready to get back to life.
Yeah for a long time MH didn't see it and I looked like the crazy one making stuff up (because she wouldn't do this stuff in front of him). But since we've been staying with them (since June) while we finish the house remodel he definitely sees it and goes to bat against her.
She has issues.. She can be very nice but then very judgemental, moody, and argumentative.
Being pregnant has changed ME though, I used to care because I wanted her to like me. Now it's about US - me, MH and baby.
I haven't stopped eating all morning. I brought a breakfast sandwich from the cafeteria then someone brought samosas so I had one of those then I snacked on cucumbers. I didn't actually bring a lunch today so I'll probably go get a soup when I get hungry again.

I'm destroying a chicken salad sandwich. And I do mean destroying.
Yum.
We just recently got a franchise location here of "The Chicken Salad Chick" and it's the best...18 different kinds, plus delicious sides. Might need to take DS next week. I love to make it myself but DH doesn't care for it, so I don't do it often.

I *love* that place.
Amen. I had never heard of it before it opened here, but I guess it's based elsewhere in the south and has finally made its way to north FL. They just started construction on another one, so we'll have two soon!
Yay danib! I'm sure you showed those stairs whose boss!
I'm sitting here watching Middle Tennessee and Mich State. I love a good upset, but I have Mich State going pretty far in my bracket. The joys of March Madness!
