2. Symptoms? I feel better then I have in awhile nausea and energy wise. Peeing a lot, pelvic pain. I'm in the insomnia after peeing at night boat too.
3. Upcoming appts? This week.
4. Rants/raves? I gained around 10 pounds in the last two weeks. Feeling pretty defeated about that especially since I've been eating better.
5. Gtky: Since yesterday was the first day of Spring.... what is your favorite kind of flower? Orchids.
mcktymck , I can't remember...are you in OR? There is a huge tulip festival in Woodburn, where I use to take my nanny kids every year and take pictures of them for their parents in the tulip fields. I have only taken my DD once, because of my schedule (I avoid weekends there), and instead took her to one in WA (Woodland Tulip Festival....which is like 1/4 acre...super small but less crowds).
That's the one we're going to go to! We are only able to go on weekends due to my schedule, sounds like that might be a bad idea? I'm in Tigard Where are you located again?
mcktymck, I am in Vancouver, WA. I wouldn't avoid it if you want to go, but I would go right when they open (like 10-15min before they open). There is usually already a line forming before they let people in to park...but the mad rush usually starts a few hours after opening. I use to take my nanny kids to the Little People, Big World (Roloff Farms) pumpkin patch every year, and that is what I had to do for that (except I would have to be there about 20-30min before opening). Once parked, we were able to do the fun stuff, and then eat a little lunch, and we were heading out about two hours after opening (when there was a steady stream of cars coming in and the place was becoming packed). If you go to the tulip fields, it seems like the last few times I was there, people seemed to start in the festival area and then make their way out to the fields. If you want to take pictures in the fields, you will probably get the least amount of people in the background, if you go to the fields first, and then go to the festival area. The fields can get muddy, so we always wore boots. And they have paperwork that you can bring with you if you want to write down different tulips that you like (if you want to purchase later). I usually just took a picture of the sign with the tulip name on it, so I would just have them in the photo thing of my phone. We always packed a lunch, but there is food there. I mostly avoid weekends at busy places, just because I hate dealing with crowds....so no zoo, holiday shopping, etc....plus when I was still going, I had four nanny kids (age 5 and under), all to myself. It was easier to take them to places like that during the week, than take them on the weekends when they could get lost in the shuffle of people easier.
harlowjune1984 that's all great information, thank you! I went to the festival once over a decade ago so we figured why not make a day out of it and do that and some shopping at Woodburn
Also, my mom and her BF are building their house out in the Vancouver area! I'm excited they'll be out there so that I'll have an excuse to go to Once Upon a Child haha. Maybe we'll have to plan some GTGs with the babies once they arrive since we live so close.

Regarding the car seat rear facing, thanks to you who chimed in. I'm certainly not going to criticize a parent who decides to turn their kid around earlier than I am (well I might in my head if the kid is way young), but if it's safer to stay rear facing, I don't see how that is an issue. My parents seem to think of it as a big kid vs baby thing which it's not. I'm not turning him until necessary, but it would be nice to not be criticized because I'd rather keep my kid safer. Once again, it's impossible to win regardless of your parenting decisions!

acorn99 how scary and exhausting regarding your son. Glad he feels better, and hopefully he doesn't have another reaction.
@tikoberry99, possibly since she seems to have no interest in kids at this point, she doesn't realize how long pregnancy actually is? Still an odd comment, but if you don't have kids, you really may have no idea that pregnancy can go on what seems like forever. I found out I was pregnant a week before Thanksgiving and can't believe that I'm just a bit over the halfway mark because the holidays seem so long ago.
feisty, is Syracuse your team? Guessing based on your avatar. I absolutely love March Madness - I basically watched for 4 days straight! My team Villanova is still in it, and Thursday can't come soon enough!

Yup! I'm happy to be unexpectedly in the sweet sixteen when we didn't even think we were going to make it!
I have Nova going to the final game in my bracket!

feisty, yeah I think Syracuse is surprising a lot of people. Their next game with a 10 vs an 11 will be interesting for the Sweet Sixteen but hopefully makes it easier to get to the next round. I'm not holding my breath, but I hope you are right about Nova!
2. Nothing to complain about! Craving ice cream and hot sauce still (not together)
3. next ultrasound and OB appt is on the 31st. We'll evaluate how I'm doing then and decide if I can go back to work first week of April.
4. It's my birthday Friday! I am really excited for it this year for some reason. Crappy part is it's Good Friday so nothin is open and a lot of our friends are going away for Easter. We probably won't do anything.
5. I really like flowers in the aster family and lilies and spider flowers lol
rungirlrun I don't even have a kid yet and am already sick of the whole "mommy wars" and people criticizing everything parents do no matter what. All that matters is that a parent does what they think is best for their children, as long as they're happy and healthy then let them be! Also, I feel like when it comes to our parents, guidelines and raising kids is SO different today than when they were doing it, which makes it harder for them to understand the "new way".
harlowjune1984 that's all great information, thank you! I went to the festival once over a decade ago so we figured why not make a day out of it and do that and some shopping at Woodburn

Dude.....Once Upon a Child is my favorite place (umm...although it took me 3 out of 4 of DD's years to finally decide to walk in there and check it out and bite the bullet on consignment clothing for DD). It is by far my favorite children's consignment store in the area, because they are really picky about what they accept, so I have been getting Baby Gap, Gymboree, Keen, Janie & Jack, etc....for dirt cheap. There are some interesting ladies who work at that location, and I always see them being mentioned on reviews. HAHA! Are they building out on the west side (more towards Camas)? There are SO MANY new housing developments going in over there! I am on the west side, right along I-5, and its not too bad (I would rather be in Bend, OR...but I didn't really get a say because of MH's job at the time). Yes we will have to get the kids together sometime...even if it is fighting the crowds at the zoo, on a weekend.

rungirlrun, we RF-ed until DD was almost 3.5 years old in my car (but she was FF-ing in our truck when she was 2.5 or 3). We actually bought all new carseats, just so we could continue RF-ing longer. My mom watches DD twice a week, and thought that it was a PITA, but I didn't care....especially in her Kia that feels like it is made out of plastic. Our kid, our rules. Most of my friends were the type to turn their kids to FF-ing as soon as their kid hit a year, and have them on non-harness boosters at the age of three. They use to make comments like "You STILL have her rear-facing? Turn that kid around so she can see something?" or other random things. Meanwhile, I was silently side-eyeing them for how they had their kid in a carseat. Although it is a pain to get them into a RF-ing seat (depending on your type of car and how big your kid is), it is nice that RF-ing has a better recline, which means longer car naps!
harlowjune1984 they're building in Felida (I think that's the right spelling), out by Vancouver Lake. It seems like a really nice neighborhood they'll be in, I know they're really excited about it! Once Upon a Child is seriously the best, there was one pretty close to us when we lived in CT and I loved shopping there for my niece and nephew. It's probably a good thing it's not right down the road anymore, I would be in there constantly spending money haha. And I hear you on Bend, if it were up to me we would move there in a heartbeat! Hands down my favorite place in the US, the whole Bend/Sunriver/Eagle Crest area.
mcktymck still here! Lol the OB was a lot more lenient and told me to do more "rest" and less "bed rest" I went to the pool with the kids a few times last week and walked a few laps of the track at the gym (they have these emergency distress buttons every 100m which is kind of cool) I hope he likes them! I am really proud of the vest I made because I didn't have a pattern. I'm now working on a pair of orange converse-style slippers for DH without a pattern. FX they work out lol.
Welp, H didn't take into consideration that I work from home and he cancelled our cable/internet on Friday, so it looks like we'll be moving by Thurs instead of Sat/Sun like we had originally planned so that I can have internet to work...times like this I wish I could pop open a bottle of Moscato and chug it down.

acorn99 I'm sorry your DS was so sick! How scary! I'm glad he's on the mend.
lovegrilledcheese I'm sorry you're still dealing with nausea and sickness Big hugs for everyone else who's feeling sick too!
Re: Once Upon a Child- my favourite store ever! 90% of DS's wardrobe comes from there. I got him a Land's End snowsuit for $20! Last week I got all his summer shorts and t-shirts, plus a couple things for DS2, for $50. The quality is good and I don't worry about things being lost or destroyed at daycare because chances are it was less than 5 bucks!
2. Symptoms: Still dealing with severe nausea and throwing up daily.
3. Next appt is a growth scan, GD test, and follow-up with OB on 4/6
4. See symptoms. I'm getting excited for our little weekend trip to the coast in a few weeks for my bday.
5. Tulips!
I'm sorry you are still so sick! What do they have you doing for it?
Nothing except zofran and phenergan. Said I'm not sick enough for daily iv since I can keep fluids down again after I throw up and some food. The nausea is always there. I'm getting depressed not being able to do normal things and I'm stuck in the house.

cavewmn seriously! Yesterday I was feeling like a zombie and asked H to pick up a coffee for me on his way home from work. He got me an iced coffee (I'm not a fan of iced coffee and it was cold out so I was looking forward to a hot drink). Yes it was nice of him to stop and get me one and I still drank it, but you would think the guy would know his wife and how she likes her coffee haha
I really feel for you. With ds, I watched every season on greys on lifetime every day. My therapist told me then, try to leave the house once a day. Or every other day, even if I just sat on the porch for a bit.
I am still getting sick 3 mornings a week, but like you can eat and drink after. I found eating some peanutbutter at night before bed, has curbed some nausea in the morning. I eat those pb cheese crackers. Haha

mcktymck, that sucks about your moving plans! I am like 5min or so from Felida, just south of it in Hazel Dell! We have some friends moving up from Salem, and we have been looking a houses with them, and looked down by the Vancouver Lake area at the Erickson Farms subdivision that is going in down there.....gorgeous houses!! Just don't let your kid swim in Vancouver Lake.....every summer (sometimes twice a summer), it gets shut down for ecoli. Ew! And Bend is totally awesome. My brother lives over there and I am so jealous....we love that area. Its just so expensive! They just added that new whitewater rafting area on the river, and I cannot wait to not be pregnant and try it out. We spend a lot of our time in the summer out towards that area at Lake Billy Chinook camping/boating. The weather is awesome out there, compared to our rainy side of the mountains.
1. How many weeks are you? 23w3d...but this is all based on us and if that is the real due date then my pee test turned crazy early...so I am betting I am closer to 24w
2. Symptoms? Acid reflux/heartburn, still some sciatica, lots of movement
3. Upcoming appts? Not until mid April. It had the GD test, so I put it off until after my move.
4. Rants/raves? So excited to (maybe, finally) be moving. We have accepted an offer and are in the middle of all the contingencies now. I am so thankful that we aren't doing multiple showings a week anymore and so thrilled to finally be moving into the house that we bought 7 months ago. I feel like we can finally set up the baby's room, get DD settled in before her little sister comes, and get some house projects done before the newborn stage happens.
5. Gtky: Since yesterday was the first day of Spring.... what is your favorite kind of flower? Iris! I have this little purple ones in my yard that I will be splitting and taking to the new house.
2. Symptoms? bad: back pain, tailbone pain, anxiety Good: lots of kicks!
3. Upcoming appts? Had a regular Ob appt and ultrasound last Friday to get a better face shot than they did at the AS. Next one is mid-April
4. Rants/raves? I'm flying with DD to visit a friend and her new baby in a few weeks and keep stressing myself out about flying. I'm almost looking forward to it being over because it's increasing my anxiety so much. I have no idea why. I have flown before. I have also flown with DD before. Insomnia is also not helping the issue.
5. Gtky: Since yesterday was the first day of Spring.... what is your favorite kind of flower? It wouldn't be spring without Tulips but I do love Calla lilies!
2. Symptoms? Peeing all night long, exhausted and still getting bloody noses sometimes. I feel baby move most of the day, but just some kicks and pokes. DH says he felt baby last night, so thats a first!
3. Upcoming appts? April 5th - GTT and regular midwife appointment.
4. Rants/raves? Nothing ATM
5. Gtky: Since yesterday was the first day of Spring.... what is your favorite kind of flower? Peonies, or hydrangeas
Post by jewelsofthenile on Mar 22, 2016 9:32:53 GMT -5
1. How many weeks are you? 23 weeks 5 days
2. Symptoms? frequent peeing and starting to have flip sides at night because my hips/joints hurt.
3. Upcoming appts? 4/8 for my monthly checkup
4. Rants/raves? Why must i have middle of the night insomnia. I am so tired. Also we are taking a little spring break trip next week to VA. I should start getting ideas for what we should do while there since i am the designated trip planner.
5. Gtky: Since yesterday was the first day of Spring.... what is your favorite kind of flower? This is hard i enjoy most flowers especially watching them all bloom over the course of the year. I have a hydrangea tree which is nice because the flowers last a long time. I also have rodedenoens in my yard i like when those bloom as well.
2. Most of the same going on here. I pee all night. I flip from side to side all night long because of hip pain. Occasional heartburn. But lots of little baby kicks.
3. Just had one yesterday. Everything looks good and her heart beat was 132 bpm. We decided to discontinue MFM which is good. We were spending a lot of extra money without feeling like we were getting any value. Next appt 4/20 for growth scan, GTT, and reg OB.
4. We are going out of town this weekend and are going to Buy Buy Baby and Costco. I know I get excited about the little things but hey. I have also been spending like crazy on zulily. I may need an intervention soon.
5. I adore lilies and orchids - both were in my wedding

rungirlrun, I think that there are so many people that are stuck to turning kids around at 1 that it's a PITA uphill battle because they don't get it. We had to turn DD around at about 18mo because she was vomiting in the car literally every day and that was the only thing that stopped it (she probably wouldn't have made it a whole lot longer though with her height). I hated doing it, but we had tried so many other things, saw a ped GI doctor, and tried so many meds that I just didn't see another option. H wanted to turn her around at 1 though and I said absolutely not. csftl.org is a great resource to direct people to!
acorn99, that is so scary, I hope he is feeling better now. Hugs!
tootsie, I started Zoloft recently too and feel like it is already helping. It is a great feeling to feel like you are able to manage again, I'm happy for you!
