Recently I've been covering LO up with an A&A swaddled blanket at night (past 3 days) and I find that she always ends up sleeping on top of it, but that she also carries it around the crib with her! She's never in the same spot I leave her in the mornings and the blanket was with her the past 3.
Previously we had just kept paci's in there (like a million) but since she's weaned herself off of those I've taken them out.

We have a sidecar instead of an actual crib. A sleeps in a zippadee-zip sack so I don't worry about blankets. He won't take a paci so none of those.....when he wakes up MOTN he crawls onto me and we snuggle/nurse so then there are: mom, dad, the dog, and pillows.
Do y'all have bumpers or anything to keep arms and legs from going between the slats in the crib?
FFFC- we have regular bumpers in her crib and she LOVES to snuggle them. She squishes the front side down and uses it as a pillow.
+1..we also have a regular bumper because M kept getting his arms and legs stuck and the mesh didn't work. We don't keep anything else in the crib, because I find it distracts him and hinders his ability to fall back asleep.
We've also tried several lovies but he hasn't taken to any of them. I'm scared to leave an a & a blanket because I feel like he'd get tangled in it. mrsmonogrammed, can you post a pic of the one you cover C with?
1 very thin, small blanket for face snuggling, 1 thin fleece blanket from IKEA and on cold nights I cover him with a thicker fleece blanket after he falls asleep. And his glow worm.
We recently put in the regular bumpers because like the others, she was getting her arms and legs stuck. Her bed seems so much cozier...almost like she is in a little cocoon. She sleeps with a blanket now, another new development, and a few stuffed animals, including a glow worm. Oh, and her wubanub. Sometimes, between that time of it's too late for a nap but too early for dinner/ bedtime routine, I put her in her crib to chill out, and she happily plays for a bit. She talks and plays with her "little friends."
He sleeps in a fleece sleep sack, a few pacis and regular bumpers. I had these great mesh at the bottom padded at the top bumpers but he loves to smoosh his face into them so he kept waking himself up pushing his face into the hard rails so regular bumpers and back to regular sleep
As for standing and bumpers I think its way early to worry about them using it as a step out of the crib, Im assuming thats the worry? They will do it but I think we have a ways to go, especially if the crib is dropped all the way down.

He's got 4 or 5 cuddle friends in there, which is totally unnecessary because he ignores their presence. Same holds true with his little blanket lovey. So it's more like storage than anything else.

ashbash my LO was stacking his stuffies the other day to try and climb out of his crib. But if your child isn't a monster like mine you shouldn't have to worry for awhile.
We don't have bumpers and he just has a fleece blanket that doesn't usually stay on. He has his wubbanubs, seahorse, and lovey and HAD a couple stuffed animals in there. The mobile is still up but I have to take that down too because he was hanging onto the animals and walking around in circles. Oops. It was so funny though.
He has a blanket, a lovey, and a pillow. That's right A PILLOW!
We have a firm one under his sheet at one end of his mattress so he can't move it around. We did it as a last resort to use as a wedge to prop him more upright when we moved him out of the rock n play at night. I have zero concerns about it since he's completely mobile, rolls, and moves all over his crib at night.

Way too much stuff here I'm sure, but it keeps him happy. He has 2 pacifiers, 1 thin blanket and 1 thick blanket, 1 stuffed animal he cuddles, Scout, and the FP learning puppy.
littlemissgrump I see your babe is an overachiever That was how DD finally managed her escape but she was about 20 months. Too smart for their own good!
We have mesh bumpers...but he mostly just plays with those. Nothing in the crib and he sleeps in fleece footie jammies. When it was colder her had a sleep sack too.

That's part of the reason I started this thread...I was considering getting C a very small breathable pillow to use in hopes that she would stop using the bumpers...I think I'm going to look into it!

Usually one of these- Or one of the regular muslin swaddles if the others are in the wash:)
I'm assuming from context that what you call a crib is what I call a cot. I've never been sure. A crib here is a specific type of bed for a very small baby, which some people choose instead of a Moses basket. They're wooden and often have rockers. Cots are the beds with bars that lower once baby can stand. We have a cot bed, which is a bit bigger than an ordinary cot and will convert into a toddler bed.
She has a velveteen rabbit that H's mum made before she was born; a soft toy snail that has a colour changing night light in its shell; and another very dim night light that is part of the monitor. The snail is attached to the cot bars because if she plays with it and it gets turned upside down, she panics because she can't see the light. At the top of the cot she has another soft toy rabbit, very soft and fluffy, and a soft ball. There's a mobile hanging over the cot.
She loves her cot and she sometimes plays in there during the day. She isn't great at going to sleep in there so at bedtime she plays in there till she's almost asleep, comes out for a cuddle and then goes back in when she's asleep. We're working on falling asleep on her own - she used to do it but seems to have forgotten how.

Yes, what ou call a cot is what we call a crib!
What you call a crib is what we would call a bassinet- it's only meant for the first few months because it is fairly portable, much smaller than our cribs, and usually placed next to the parents' bed.

carrots you mentioned trying to get LO out of the sleep sack, is there a reason, are you concerned he won't be able to sleep without it? I am just curious because our baby is still in one all the time, too. Once I forgot to bring a new one to the nanny's though, so she had to nap without it, and she napped just fine.
That said, we don't have anything in the crib at night and she is in a sleep sack. She is ALL OVER the place when she is falling asleep, so I don't think a blanket at this point would do any good. We have been trying to get her attached to a lovey, so we put it in there at nap times, but we are kind of inconsistent with it, and she doesn't really care too much about it. We also don't have bumpers, but she doesn't ever really seem to get stuck.

That definitely sounds like the same thing! I've never heard of a bassinet. Do you have Moses baskets over there, too?
Also, what's a lovey? I've never heard the term before and Google doesn't help. I was eventually able to find out what a onesie is (it's what I call a baby vest), but Google doesn't seem to have a clue about loveys!

A lovey is a stuffed animal head with a very small blanket attached. Lots of parents like them because they offer comfort to a baby without being a full sized blanket/stuffed animal. Sometimes kids become very attached so it's a bonus that they are easy to take along in the car seat or stroller as well:)
There are Moses baskets over here but usually people prefer to use a bassinet.

I feel very secure keeping it under the sheet so it can't move. I know it's a no-no but he actually falls asleep better with his head a little elevated and the wedges they make weren't comfortable for him.

For DS first pillow we used one of those really small airplane pillows that are pretty flat

This was the one we had-
That's interesting :-) Over here nearly everyone uses Moses baskets and what we call cribs are pretty unusual.
I've seen those lovey things but they're not popular here, and they don't have a specific name.
