I hate dealing with poop in cloth diapers so I've put DS on the potty when he looked like he needed to poop/was pooping since he could sit up unassisted (6 months?) aka I trained myself. Conveniently he was a 1-2x a day pooper and fairly predictable. Since about 13-14 months he will sign poop when he needs to go, I put him on the potty, and he poops. He occasionally pees when he's sitting there, but doesn't seem to "get" that part of it yet. I haven't pushed pee training yet since poop is what I care most about/much more work with cloth.
Just curious, isn't it just as "icky" (for lack of a better word) to clean one of those little pottys with poop? How does one even clean that? I'm hoping the little seat on the toilet works for my LO because I don't want to deal with that whole thing.
Also, I'm very impressed at your DS for letting you know and doing all his poops on the potty!
He used to use a little floor potty but now uses a seat reducer ring on the regular toilet. The floor potty was kinda gross, but I preferred wiping hard plastic to wiggly toddler plus diaper. I usually dumped what I could in the toilet, then used a wipe.
DD really has not expressed interest yet and is not communicating about it regularly. There have been a handful of times that she has 'told' us she had a poop, so there is a glimmer of it in the distance.
Same. It feels like we're about one inch closer than when she was a newborn.
